I think reading TF Marvel while Jazz was my favorite character altered my brain chemistry, the trauma he endured was so extreme:

He blames himself for the team he was part of failing to save a village from being wiped out by nuclear weapons

Was tortured for a week straight by the Decepticon zealot Megadeath, then right when Jazz was about to go mad, his torturer stopped to make sure he'd still be fully aware of the pain

Jazz and the rest of the team then watched one of their friends be murdered in front of them

He and the others faked amnesia for millions of years because all of the above was too much to take

On Earth, Jazz accidentally gave Sparkplug a heart attack

He nearly got killed by Circuit Breaker twice

Got left for dead on the battlefield by Sunstreaker

Became brain-damaged and actually amnesiac due to a shot to the head by a Constructicon

Was captured and tortured by Galvatron who did let him go mad, gave him brain damage again, and mind-controlled him to fight the other Autobots

Soon after Jazz was killed by Starscream

Ratchet brought him back, then Jazz had to battle Demons

Jazz was present for Primus screaming, which altered Unicron to Cybertron's position

Jazz tried to hunt down the Matrix but he and his team were beaten by Thunderwing and failed

Optimus unknowingly sent him on a mission, to Jazz's dismay, that reunited the old traumatized team and sent them right back into the territory of the Decepticon who traumatized them so much back in the early days of the War

Some of the villagers had actually survived but been mutated into zombie slaves, and Jazz fell to his knees and just let them attack him and make him Megadeath's prisoner again

Jazz had to stop Wheeljack from strangling Silverbolt for calling them "losers" and confessed to everything that had happened and face his trauma

Jazz then nearly beat an unarmed Megadeath to death in a furious rage, then decided he had been inexorably changed by war

Jazz was one of the Autobots who fought against Unicron

In an alternate timeline, he had to fight Galvatron one-on-one, nearly throwing away his life, and was one of only three Autobots left alive

I mentioned the concept of "making the blorbo suffer" today to Roomie / Co-Planner. He said he doesn't want his favorites to suffer. He wants them to be happy, and that's why Shockwave gets the "happiest" storyline in this fic so far. He contributed the most to the development of him and Wheeljack.

Which is true. Shockwave gets a fantastic tiny wife (Wheeljack) and like thirteen plus giant children (the Phase Sixer Equivalent, the Science Gang, the Conbaticons, the Coneheads, and Scorponok) and only half of them hate him. Though Wheeljack would argue he has a fantastic giant wife. They are very much this meme:

This makes me think of Rung's storyline and gets me in the right mood to write him. I write by mood a lot, so music is very important for my writing and understanding of the characters. I have a few other songs for him I'll mention as well.

"Labour" is another one that I associate with him. Though it applies across to a few characters slightly. And both also crossover to touch on Trepan as well.

It was a little funny. I got all the alerts right in a row, but I went to read your response first! I do like the idea of intentionally choosing less "evil" looking color schemes for some characters. I need to go read what you've posted. It's on my TBR, but I've been caught up writing too.

Also, yeah Devcon! One of my favorite underused characters! I was really excited when his toy came out and managed to get one from a friend who didn't really want it but did want the Ratbat from my Miner Megs+Ratbat 2-Pack. It made me feel like I was in kindergarten again. 😂

Did you already mention his coloration in the asks with Riot? Or on your blog? I am not caught up in the latest lore on your SG AU.

SUMMARY

In another universe, the first rebellion against the Quintessons failed, and the Quintesson Empire is strong and expansive, thanks in no little part to the enslavement and suffering of the mechanical race known solely as Transformers. Rebellion is approaching, though, as the Empire is crumbling from both within and without.

Among those within the Empire is young Orion Pax, a warframe created to serve within the Imperial Army. He has no idea the role he and his partner Megatron will play in the future to come when they catch the personal attention of Quintessa.

On Cybertron, the jewel of the "Thirteen Original Colonies", Governor Brinnt, lazy and uninterested, leaves more and more of his rule to his secretary drone Prowl, who has her own machinations behind the scenes and tied to the unrest on Velocitron.

Within the laboratories on Luna-1 Shockwave, a "free" Transformer, uses his mind to continue working for the Quintessons to create weapons needed to secure their hold. With him is janiter turned assistant Wheeljack, who has a different view on how their work should go.

Meanwhile, in the House of Ambus, Minimus Ambus, the oldest servant, takes care of his dying Master clinging to the promise of freedom in his Will and unheeding of warnings from the younger Hot Rod.

Outside the Empire, former general Galvatron and those he managed to take with him, petition for aid and recognition as a sentient species all while the Quintessons struggle to retrieve their "property" before the case can be heard.

In every corner, the façade is crumbling, and soon, the first iconoclast will strike against the God-Empress Quintessa.
