New Start!
I started this blog in 2013 to chronicle my fitness journey. It started with me wanting to get in shape for my wedding. I started crossfit and paleo and I did see some great results. But then I got married, we moved across the country, I started a new job, we moved again, I started another new job... And I have basically let myself go. My husband and I are setting up a new basement gym and I'm going to start eating better and lifting weights. I would like to chronicle my new fitness journey! Looking back on my old posts is making me feel very inspired!!
I will be posting some before photos soon.

I have been bad about blogging! I didn't blog about doing 16kg kettlebell snatches (both arms!). I also got a few double unders, but I can't string them together.
We worked on 1rm strict press today. I got 80lb and Brandon got 135lb. Then we did BMB station #2. I did 55lb snatches and 45lb thrusters. Brandon did 75lb for snatches and thrusters.
Yesterday we had a pool party and ate way too many cupcakes! Time to get more strict with the diet. I gotta recheck my bodpod in a couple months and I want to see good results.

I've missed a few workouts! Including getting a 115lb squat clean PR! Brandon got 175lb squat clean PR last week as well.
Today we did mobility, followed by one round of
20 back squats (body weight)
30 box jumps (30/24)
40 kettle bell swings (24/16)
50 wall balls (20/14)
Brandon RX'd the WOD with 9:12min with back squat weight 165lb (his body weight). My body weight is about 180lb but I could only do 105lb, but RX'd everything else and got 11:55min.
I'm definitely getting stronger! I've been doing CrossFit for four months now and I'm feeling more and more like a beast!

Today we did 10x2 90% backsquats. I did 125lb and Brandon did 195lb, then 205lb, then 225lb, then 245lb twice at the end.
We cashed out with 15x3 weighted sit-ups (45/25lb).

Hurtin' hamstrings
After Fran, kettlebell swings, and Hope... our hamstrings are killing us! We skipped the WOD yesterday and this morning because of it. It sucks though because I work tomorrow, so I won't be able to CrossFit until Monday. I will have to do something else in the meantime.
I have dramatically increased my protein intake to about 180g a day, and I feel like my strength is dramatically improving every day too. I feel like I am eating like a horse, and I may have actually gained some pounds, but overall I am looking more toned. Brandon even mentioned how I'm getting skinnier. I'm trying to follow the "Eat to Perform" guidelines, and so far it seems to be working.

Hope
Three rounds of:
Burpees
75 pound Power snatch
Box jump, 24″ box
75 pound Thruster
Chest to bar Pull-ups
“Hope” has the same format as Fight Gone Bad. In this workout you move from each of five stations after a minute. This is a five-minute round from which a one-minute break is allowed before repeating. The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. On call of “rotate,” the athlete/s must move to next station immediately for good score. One point is given for each rep.
I got about 150 and Brandon got about 170. I suck at thrusters!! I have got to work on those.

Yesterday we worked on kettle bell technique, it was a lot of fun!
I can snatch the yellow kettle bells, not sure what weight they are. I have a huge bruise on my wrist from it but I learned a lot and my hamstrings are killing me today!

Today was 5x3 backsquats at 80%, and then FRAN!
21-15-9
Thrusters
Pull-ups
I did 105lb backsquats, and I was proud of my form! I definitely think I am squatting better and gaining muscle.
I finished Fran in 5:48min doing 35lb thrusters and black band pull-ups. I probably could have done more weight, but I really suck at thrusters, so I just wanted to focus on the movements.
Brandon finished in 5:16 min doing 65lb thrusters and kipping pull-ups. I think his backsquats were at 165lb. He continues to do awesome!

Today we worked on front squats, 8x3 at 93%. I did 95lb because my one rep max a month ago was 100lb. But I think I could have done more weight than that.
We followed that with 7 minutes of burpees. I did 68. I think, it was hard to keep track of them.

"Helen"
400m run
21 kettle bell swings
12 pull-ups
We did 5x5 pendlay rows first. Brandon did 135lb and I did 85lb. Then we did Helen, which definitely had me flat on my back by the end of it. Brandon finished in 9min RX and I finished in 15 min (but had to do black band pull-ups). Half way through I was feeling pretty good but by the end of it I was dead.
