I really hate how my body makes things that are supposed to be enjoyable hurt so badly. My jaw has gotten so bad it hurts so much to eat, talk, sing, and now just existing makes it hurt. My guts hurt whenever I eat things I like like veggies or dairy. My shoulder, wrists, and back ache when I make art. Even sexual stuff hurts SO badly and that's supposed to feel good.

Y’know, that makes me think of something, actually.

So if you’re one of those “I can only write when I feel Inspired™” type of writers but you never seem to feel very inspired, and all of the usual “You have to make a schedule and stick to it and sit down and write XYZ words per day” writing tips have never worked for you and only make you feel guilty but you have no idea why,

have you perhaps considered that you might be neurodivergent / mentally ill / have a chronic health condition, and that what you call “inspiration” is what the rest of us call “spoons”?

Feb 5, 2021, 9:10 pm EST  stuck in the snow

Hi, the 21 & 25 year old I mentioned a couple of weeks ago are still in crisis and as if facing homelessness were not enough, today their car is now stuck in the snow. It is dark and it is cold and they do not have money for a tow truck.

They need $75 for a tow truck in the next 15 minutes to a half hour. The tow truck is already on its way there and they don’t have money to pay him.

I am disabled and living off about half minimum wage - if I help them from my own money I will not have money for food. I can’t accept PayPal and they are far from me and can’t pay me back if I have to help them.

The reason I do so many self portraits/use myself as a reference is like. I can't depend on ANYONE. And now I'm doing 2+ major independent projects that are COMPLETELY dependent on other's cooperation and the majority of all involved on every level (from adminstrative, to advisors, to participatants) just ghost me for days-weeks. I definitely never want to work with others again but I know that's not realistic

i was debating on whether or not i should post this on tumblr but seeing as there haven’t been posts about this yet, here it is. i’m exposing my real location and nationality but it doesn’t matter.

if you have been active on twitter, you may already know #savemyanmar is trending. long story short, there has been a military coup. several nations have released statements but i want to share insight on what’s happening in the country.

memes about a coup have been circulating around for a couple days and when i slept at 2 am last night, we were still under the rule of the National League for Democracy (NLD). while they are not technically democratic, they are the closest we’ve got. when my mother woke up at 6 this morning, she was notified that the country was now under the rule of the military.

banks services are no longer available. wifi was cut at around 7-8. some people got wifi again earlier but many got it barely thirty minutes ago. this is bad for businesses especially ones that require international communications. additionally, international students like myself are experiencing anxiety; how do we pay for and attend classes if we’re not sure wifi is a given?

myanmar has a long, complicated history with military governments. the last time the military went into rule was in 1962 and only stopped in 2011, following the 2010 elections. there was a huge protest in 1988 lead by students that resulted in lots of death. during the military junta, resources like rice, water, oil, were scarce. the gist is military rule is bad for us.

all of my followers are not myanmar citizens, i’m sure but as part of the international community, please help us. here is a petition that you can sign (although i’m not sure if that can do much). there may be protests in front of myanmar embassies so look out for those. most of all, please help spread awareness. 

the people here are coping with dark humor, primarily in the form of memes but we don’t know how long this rule will last, even though the official statement said only a year. here’s something that pretty much sums up our coping mechanism:

Hi folks, this sucks but I have to ask. I’m short for rent this month and need about $150 to pull me through. My apartment flooded & I had to move to a new place. The cost of the move + start of the semester (textbooks, tuition) + new meds took more  than I anticipated. I have zero financial aid from my uni whatsoever. My parents used to be able to help me with these costs but they’re caring for my disabled grandparents now and can’t help anymore.  I have an independent contracting job that I only get 4-10 min wage hours from a month and won’t be getting another paycheck for probably 3 weeks, which’ll be too late. Finding a real job in my rural college town has been very hard despite consistent searching because I’m trans + disabled And Also There’s A Pandemic.  If all of my followers donated just $1 I’d be in the clear! A 10,000 person protest could flip and torch a few cop cars, but 100 people acting independently could cut the valve stems on 100 different cop cars and render them unusable and unrepairable

A 10,000 person protest could smash some windows of businesses and offices, but 100 people could superglue 100 buildings’ locks shut overnight

A 10,000 person protest could loot a few stores, but 100 people skillfully and persistently shoplifting could liberate just as much over time

1,000 people could blockade the construction of an oil pipeline, but it only takes 1 to turn the emergency shutoff valve on an existing one

100 people could camp in treehouses and prevent a clearcutting, but it only takes 1 to spike a few trees to drastically slow them down or even destroy their equipment

I’m not saying that mass actions aren’t important - no doubt, they accomplish things that couldn’t be done otherwise - but be aware of what can get done independently when those protests aren’t coming together. Get creative, stay active, direct action gets the good
