I’ve been listening through the Bernice Summerfield audio stories literally just for gay medical drama fan reasons (in love with an 80s Casualty character played by Lisa Bowerman and need to experience everything she’s been in) and because I needed something to listen to on my commute so why am I crying in the club rn?? I knew that things would be really going down in series 8 but I wasn’t prepared to care this much about Maggie Matsumoto :(

Maggggiiee… I knew her so briefly, got so attached, did not expect to be so affected by The Tub Full of Cats. I guess it’s just another case of me being the way I am about daughters and their fathers but: “Be careful, look what happened to… your predecessor.” “I wouldn’t worry, I’ll go mad in my own unique way, I won’t be like him.” “And you won’t be like me, either.” “Goodbye dad…” I AM GOING TO SCREAM!!

In absolute shock right now (being dramatic right now).

I have mentioned being a bit of a massive Casualty fan over here before, but I’m mostly just focussed on the characters who’ve been in it since the start of series 36. Recently I’ve been watching some early episodes (like, 80s early), and the co-creator of Casualty who wrote a lot of these early episodes is Jeremy Brock.

Jeremy Brock also wrote the screenplay for the 2011 film adaptation of The Eagle of the Ninth.

I call this my ‘Orla playlist’ but it’s got plenty of songs I also associate with Atti. Actually, I only associate the first song (‘I’m Your Man’ by Mitski) with Orla in the sense that I think it captures the many different ways Atti would view Orla, both as Atti the teenage boy caught up in a war who has fallen in love with the first person to ever show him kindness and as Atti the Roman. I’m kinda sure that making a playlist for Orla back in 2021 was half of the reason my HH movie obsesssion came back.

This is always the only one of my playlists that has any saves, lol. It’s weird to think that anyone out there saw my song picks for Kath and agreed with me because I always thought they were a bit specific to my takes on her.
