quick info about the ongoing protests in serbia:
1) the government sent out on the 28th police officers to violently beat up protesters
2) in the morning of the 30th, the government sent out officers wearing full on face masks (people believe they're paid hooligans and not the actual police) to force protesters out of the streets
3) between the 28th and the 30th, the police has begun forcefully plucking students off the streets in front of their universities, practically kidnapping them with no information and trying to levy charges against them in courts
4) these same scare tactics have been used for months and resulted in many activists and students (often those who do not have an immediate support system in belgrade) to be relegated to house arrest
5) the city centre is still overrun with what can only be described as a ghetto filled with the most idiotic parts of serbian society who sell out their country for a bag of smoki (not even exaggerating)
6) state media channels are consistently spewing the narrative that protesters are evil and are being paid by "foreign ngos" to "ruin serbia" while president vucic is somehow "saving our country"
7) this is the man who as recently as yesterday actually let a columbian professor be arrested at the belgrade airport to the point where the president of columbia had to write a tweet addressed at vucic demanding the poor man's (and his family's) immediate release
8) oh and also 17 serbs who went to celebrate vidovdan at a serbian historical site in kosovo were arrested by the local police for the heinous crime of being serbian...probably because vucic is soooooo good at "protecting his country"
there is a lot more but atp all i can say is that you should keep your eyes on the protests in serbia and support the people fighting for democracy
