the thing about blue prince if it really does have legs is that in five years it’ll seem almost quaint because enough of the puzzle twists will have filtered out into the culture. if nothing else the scope of the game will be known; you won’t have the vertiginous feeling that the world extends in every direction. it happened with myst, with dark souls, with every puzzle box game. at some point the space is just mapped thoroughly and you’ll see the game at gdq or wherever, played by people who don’t even parse anything the game is trying to say. it’ll stop being a mystery, and go back to being a toy. but now? when the answers aren’t available and the questions aren’t even known? that’s heady. anything could be in there, anything at all.

I feel like the reason many fantasy settings with multiple sapient species struggle to come up with a Special Thing for humans that isn't just "adaptable" or "strong-willed" is because they're trying to stick to something that could plausibly be true of real-world humans, but you don't actually have to do that. It's a fantasy setting. Maybe in your world humans are fireproof. You're allowed to get a little freaky with it.

Joseph Ducreux (1735–1802) was a French artist known for his expressive and unconventional self-portraits. Unlike many portraitists of his time, who adhered to strict formal conventions, Ducreux infused his works with humor, exaggerated expressions, and an almost modern sense of personality.

i often see people bring up “why does popstar have a reputation as a peaceful backwater planet where nothing happens despite it getting attacked by evil wizards and dark matter and white people aliens and sapient art supplies every other week” and that’s a very good point. and the answer is because kirby of the stars does his JOB!!!!

So many people who love generative AI don't have a creative bone in their body and can't imagine anyone actually enjoying the time and effort it takes to write something or draw something.
