The name’s JD and this is my shit blog. This is where I just spam a bunch of trash that I like in random intervals... how anticlimactic. If you want quality content you’re probably lost.

Xaden Riorson’s actions in Fourth Wing and Iron Flame both make more sense and become infinitely funnier when you remember that the man is 22-23 years old.
This man is AT BEST a first year grad student trying to finish compulsory military service in an active war zone while running the family business (ruling a legit kingdom) and taking on extracurriculars (leading a rebellion) as side hustles. On top of that there’s a literal plague of evil descending, institutional racism is against him, and his Situationship (calling Violet that cuz a lot happens there over two books and I’m trying to cover all the relationship levels) never seems to settle out for more than a month at a time.
Like, of course the decision making is not always on point. The man doesn’t even have a fully developed pre-frontal cortex yet and he hasn’t slept the recommended amount in 6 years.

Anyone else notice how the AI and Carl’s dynamic feels akin to I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream? Like the AI and AM have so much in common in how they act and treat the humans as pets and torture them for their own entertainment and also how they act almost like petty petulant children throwing a tantrum when the humans are unhappy and lashing out at their abuse. Carl and Ted trying to find the best way out of their situation despite being completely at their computer intelligence’s will is also a notable parallel.

Dungeon Crawler Carl floors 1-3: TeeHee! This big buff guy has a cat named Princess Donut! Dungeons & Dragons! Action/Adventure! Raunchy gore!
Dungeon Crawler Carl floors 4-onward: "Comrades, synchronize your watches. Tonight is the night we light the sparks of the revolution. Tonight is the night we die for our freedom."

“War doesn't determine who's right. War determines who remains.”
Obviously need to talk about the beautifully horrific book that The Poppy War is
There are some books that you know even before you start reading them, that they will change your life, and The Poppy War was one of those books for me. RF Kuang said she would write a Military Fantasy and boy, she did.
The characters are so well written and complex characters, and they were COMPLEX, nobody was inherently good or bad, and they made decisions like soldiers during war. She did not hold back on writing about the brutalities of war, the action was perfectly written to fit right into the storyline effortlessly.
It's a violent book, it is not one for children, there are so many content warnings before you even start the book, and I guess that's what it is when you read a book that depicts the harsh reality of war as well as this book has. The horrors of war and the brutal scenes are all written not just for dramatic effect, but it's all so important for the character development and the story to progress.
Rin is by far the best protagonist I've read about in a while. She was such a well-developed character, a true multi-faceted heroine and a complete badass. I love the way Rin's personality grew in front of us while the story took place in a 3rd person POV through Rin's eyes.
Now I need to talk about the writing, the word building, the emotions, the descriptions, it's all enough to make you shiver and give you goosebumps.
I could talk about this book forever, but I won't. I need everyone to give this book a try because no book I've read in recent times has affected me this much. The book will BREAK YOU, it'll make you cry, scream and actually shrink into yourself while reading about the war, but every second is so so worth it Trigger Warnings: rape, self-harm, drug abuse, basically you name it and it's a warning.

Rin and Nezha, the egoist and the altruist, the peasant and the prince, the sun and the moon, the fire and the flood, the Phoenix and the Dragon.
Both are bound by their blood to be opposites. They are victims of their upbringings and they both want what the other has but cannot fathom living the other’s life, not truly.
They are opposing forces, they are an unstoppable force and an unmovable wall, they are two cardinal directions on opposite ends of a compass, they are north and south poles on the same magnet and at the end of the day they do love each other so much.
But a love like that is destined to fail because they cannot change the rules of this plane of existence so they can either coexist without interacting at all to keep the balance or risk destroying one another in the chaos of their union.
What a cruel and beautiful tragedy they are.

in chinese mythology the fèng huáng (鳳凰) and the lóng (龍) which are the closest thing to what we call a phoenix and a dragon are the most ancient and common representation of yin and yang. the phoenix embodies the feminine, transformation, renewal and justice. on the other hand, the dragon represents the masculine with its strength and power, and is often associated with the imperial authority. according to some myths, the phoenix and the dragon are celestial beings that fall deeply in love and act as guardians of cosmic balance, ensuring the harmony and balance of the material and spiritual world

My Roman Empire is that despite representing the epitome of wealth, power, and influence to Rin, Nezha is ultimately powerless his entire life.
He is born to be a political pawn for his father, who's only job is to serve his country, and he accepts this fact eary on. He knows deep down his parents will never love him enough because of what he is, but he still seeks his father's praise despite knowing that he will never be respected.
He has all the power of a nation and its military behind him, but he still is forced to concede to colonizers that he see him as subhuman and backwards because of his race. He has divine shamanic abilities, but is controlled and abused by the Dragon as nothing more than a plaything. He wants to die, but is forced to be immortal by a god he never wanted to serve.
He loves Rin, but knows that that has "never mattered" because of the cycle of history they've trapped themselves in. And at the end of the series he's forced to stab her in the heart, by her own hand and decision, not his.
He's left completely alone, and even though there's a glint of optimism for his nation, he knows the rest of his life will only be a series of sacrifices made for it.

as far as one piece antagonists go Crocodile truly gets absolutely scooby-doo’d at unmatched levels
He immediately falls for a phone scam and from basically little garden to rainbase he doesn’t even know the strawhats are alive (and clowning towards him at incredible speed). As soon as he does, they’re in his house tearing at his walls and bringing marines into his villain lair.
He uses a literal floor trap door over a gator pit to catch them, gets phone scammed again, full scooby-doo chase scenes after Chopper through the streets while still missing him, and suddenly his prisoners have escaped his impossible cage, and his giant bananagators are dead. and Nico Robin saw it all happen.
He then spends rest of the arc complaining about those meddling kids and their dog “strawhat pirates and their weird pet” and at no point does he even know how many strawhats there are.
Like yeah he keeps having plans on top of plans to stop everything Vivi can do but also she keeps coming up with a new thing to do (Tom and Jerry ass dynamic).
Part of it is that he’s underestimating them and keeps grandstanding villain monologuing but also teens keep killing hundreds of his grand line bounty hunters and he straight up does not know what is happening.
Cause he IS trying to kill them he’s sending top assassins after them and ripping out luffy’s organs, the whole time he’s yelling HOW ARE YOU ALIVE?? DIE. as whack-a-mole Luffy keeps inventing new ways to hit him.

Concept: The Gotham Citizen app has a forum for posting candid photos of vigilantes and there’s an ongoing phenomenon where photos of Tim are impossibly gorgeous no matter the angle and photos of Dick (one of the most beautiful people in the entire world) look like when you take high-speed photos of Olympic athletes mid-sport

Tim Drake keeps getting kidnapped.
No one is sure how the culprit is doing it and no one has so much as seen them, but whenever Tim stays awake for even a second over the three day mark he disappears.
He always shows up back in the manor asleep somewhere and wakes up with no memory of anything occurring. The only reason the batfam even know that he's being kidnapped instead or mind control or other alternatives is the pictures on Tim's phone of him asleep and a notebook with handwritten notes on it usually making jokes or puns and telling Tim to take better care of himself. This is usually accompanied by a picture of Tim with one of those clay facial cleansing masks complete with cucumber slices over the eyes.
No amount of staking out Tim prevents him from vanishing. He simply disappears the moment no one is looking and it happens both as Tim Drake and Red Robin. The only clue they've gotten on the kidnapper so far is a glowing white glove that appeared in one of the pictures holding the container for the face mask.
In absence of a name, Steph has dubbed him "The Sleep Fairy"
