✧ Philippa of Hainault had proved to be the very model of a queen consort and she worked faithfully and tirelessly for the crown. She maintained a balance between royal and familial duties that can only be admired in such a tumultuous and warlike time. She was considered a true mother of the English people during her reign of fourty-one years. Perhaps if she had lived longer there may have been more stability within the Plantagenet family and the split-up in 1399 may not have occurred. Philippa left a deep mark on British history, a mark that is sadly often forgotten about. [x]
