corporate ppl are always like “i hate email comms they cause so many delays” but those people are fools. i crave communication delays. i hit send on an email and then immediately shoot a prayer up to the heavens that the response may take 2-3 days. let’s slow everything down just a bit thank you.

I’m retiring.

I promised I’d never cheat the game & that I’d leave it in a better place than I came into it. The competitor in me always wants 1 more, but it’s time. My HEART & body knew, but I needed to give my mind time to accept it.

I always wanted to walk off the court with no parade or tour, just privately with the ones I love. What now was to be my last game, I walked off the court with my daughter. I ended the journey just as I started it, with her.

This offseason hasn’t been fun on a foot that isn’t cooperating. It’s no fun playing in pain (10 surgeries in my career) it’s no fun knowing what you could do, if only…it’s no fun hearing “she isn’t the same” when I know why, it’s no fun accepting the fact you need surgery AGAIN.

I fell in love with a little orange ball at 13 years old and BECAUSE of it my world goes ‘round. The highs are unmatched & the lows taught me lessons. On & off the court I’m proud I’ve always been true & stayed true to ME, even when it wasn’t popular.

I’m grateful that for 16 years I PLAYED A GAME for a living & DESPITE all the injuries, I hooped. I’m grateful for family, friends, teammates, coaches, doctors, trainers & fans who made this journey so special.

In the mean time, know IM A BUSINESS, man, not a businessman. This is the beginning…I’m attacking business, private equity, ownership (I will own both a NBA & WNBA team), broadcasting, production, boardrooms, beach volleyball, dominoes (sorry babe it’s going to get more real) with the same intensity & focus I did basketball.

My mission in life, like Pat Summitt always said, is to “chase people and passions and you will never fail.” Being a wife & mom still remains priority #1 & I’ve learned that time flies, so I plan to enjoy my family to the fullest!

Today’s players: ENJOY IT.

No matter how you prepare for it, you won’t be ready for the gap it leaves in your soul. Forgive me as I mourn a bit, but I’ll be back loving the game differently in a while.

Ok after finally watching LLB, I’m doubling down on Katy O being great first Xena because she’s so charming and pulls off that sweet and earnest coolness but I agree with you about the height thing too. Idk that ER can pull it off tho? They were so cool in Shrill but really bland in Greys and it made me question if they could even pull off the whole charming, goofy-suave thing Xena’s got going on? Seconding on Midori though. She’s excellent in everything I’ve seen her just so effortlessly funny and cool like she’s Gabrielle for sure!

I have to admit that I haven’t seen LLB yet (I hear you can stream it now!) but just having been a fan of Katy for awhile (Z Nation, Black Lightning) I definitely agree she has that swaggery sweetness that would be a great Xena pick, and can u imagine those thighs in the boots… the armbands fighting for their lives… I’m here for it 😮‍💨

ER sticks in my mind mainly for the height and the comedy which is NECESSARY for a Xena recast and I just feel like they have a li’l, secretive je ne sais quoi that makes me think they’d be an interesting actor for the dark Xena stuff. Comedy to gritty tragedy pipeline and such 👀

I’ve only seen her in gifs and interviews but Katie LoveLiesBleeding would make an excellent Xena if they ever reboot it. Like I hope they don’t but if they do…

The bodybuilder -> xwp character arc is WELL documented and I have been yelled at for suggesting a recast in a reboot 😂 so i’m pulling for Katy O, Amazon queen for the new era

(And she’s amazing and I think she would kill it as our lovable yet homicidal anti hero but I kinda need beefy + that 5’ 11” threshold or the height difference for Gabrielle who I have definitely not reboot recast in my head as Midori Francis will be all wrong)
