Zero Day headcanons

These are really stupid and scattered!!!

Andre

He HATES changing his clothes. Or even just talking off/adding a layer. He sleeps FULLY clothed and in whatever he was wearing during the day, even if it’s a suit or something.

He was a huge Alanis Morissette and Fiona Apple fan but this was a secret he took to his grave because he thought it was embarrassingly girly.

He loved bullshit long songs. He put The End by The Doors on every mix CD he and Cal made together and insisted it should count as one song even though it’s 12 minutes long.

Had very few family members in his age group and felt super outcast cuz of it.

Went for a run every day and would usually eat a weird combination of foods after. Like pregnancy cravings level weird. Wouldn’t eat at any other point in the day without being reminded because he would just forget.

Was huge on the Battle of Britpop when he first got a computer. Went in the SHITTIEST forums ever.

Very poor hand-eye coordination (especially when he was young) and gets very easily frustrated when he can’t do something because of it.

When he was too upset to pay attention in class, he would write out his feelings in his notebook, but he would do it in German so no one could read them.

Cal

Always wakes up late if he doesn’t have an alarm

Considered going through Zero Day on his own on several occasions for the spontaneity of it. Couldn’t because he didn’t have access to guns without Andre.

Went through a very bad depression during junior year. As soon as his parents started to be concerned about it, he seemed to be okay again (because he and Andre started planning Zero Day).

Had a large collection of knives which he had to hide from his parents because they didn’t approve. Kept out only a few of them which had been given to him but were very dull.

Was a huge comic book fan as a kid, gave the collection to his brother.

Wrote a lot of songs which he would play in his room but never show anyone.

Rachel

Her favorite book is always whichever one she read last

Stayed home on Zero Day because she was hungover. Everyone assumed Cal had told her the plan and that was the real reason she stayed home. Some went as far as to say she probably helped them make the plan, but she never got seriously considered by the cops.

Summer camp counselor

Was originally planning to go to college for English but pivoted to social work in hopes of being able to help people like Cal.

Family

Cal’s brother sometimes considered shooting up the school as he grew up because everyone compared him to Cal anyway. He never actually did it, but he often thought he might as well. When he told his parents this, they moved to a new town where less people realized who they were.

Andre’s brother was already a teenager when he was born and had multiple kids by the time he’d finished elementary school. He blamed himself for Zero Day because he was so distant and living his own life.

Andre’s parents invited Cal’s to a family reunion about five years after Zero Day happened but Cal’s parents threw away the invite as soon as they even saw the name Kriegman on it.

Interactions

Andre’s parents trusted him to be home alone, so sometimes they would leave town for a week or so. He would have Cal stay over for some of it and they would pretend the house was only theirs and do stupid domestic shit. Cal was banned from cooking because he couldn’t even make toast without burning it.

Andre and Rachel went to Hebrew school together for a few months after Andre moved to town. He was CONVINCED Rachel hated him and would tell her off even though she wasn’t even doing anything.

Andre’s family would bring Cal on trips with them because they went on much more vacations than Cal’s family ever had. They were planning a tour of Europe as a graduation gift, but Cal and Andre never actually thought about it because of Zero Day.

Cal tried to teach Andre guitar but gave up when Andre got so frustrated, he threw the guitar hard enough to break it. He bought him a new one within days but wasn’t allowed to touch it after.

Cal and Rachel fake dated in middle school to try to get people to stop teasing Cal for being gay. It didn’t work.

Andre Kriegman who doesn't really reply when someone says something and just makes little noises like "hm?", "ehh..", "mhm", "hm", "eh?"

Andre Kriegman who rolls his eyes every time he’s interrupted mid-sentence but doesn’t actually say anything, just gives a deep, exaggerated sigh and keeps going with his story as if the interruption never happened.

Andre Kriegman who makes mad noises like "eurghhh" and curses when something little happens. A photo blurred on his camera, something wasn't working correctly, he accidentally hurts himself, he's tempermental

Calvin Gabriel who says "huh?" when someone says something to him then when the person repeats what they said he interupts and answers like he heard it but didn't process it, think' he's just a bit slow

Calvin Gabriel who laughs a little too loudly when something isn’t even funny then pauses looks around and says "Wait, was that not funny?”

Calvin Gabriel who nods excitedly when agreeing with someone but then forgets what they were talking about entirely and just repeats “Yeah, totally!”

Calvin Gabriel who starts a sentence with “Oh, I know what you mean” and then trails off realizing he has no idea what the other person was talking about

Calvin Gabriel who misinterprets a serious comment as a joke and tries to laugh it off, saying “hehe that's funny" before quickly realizing everyone else is confused

꩜ cal is a constant fainter - not like blacking out but going extremely dizzy and unable to hear or say anything. occasionally andre turns around in the locker room after gym class and just sees him on the floor with his head in his hands and has to give him water and try shield him from any of the “jocks” seeing him almost passed out because they will try and pick on him.

꩜ cal would literally rather die than spend a single second more than he has to in school but just for andre he makes an exception and waits for him every week to finish his track and field club after school.

꩜ cal literally never eats unless something is given to him, like put a bowl of chips in front of him and he will demolish it all but god forbid he goes downstairs and makes himself a bowl of cereal when he has heart palpitations because he hasn’t eaten anything all day late at night.

꩜ both andre and cal get separation anxiety from being away from each other in school and count down the periods in school until they either have a class together or can sit together at lunch. (codependent platonic caldre for life!)

꩜ cal barely gets any attention at home due to his younger siblings and is secretly jealous of andre’s parents doting on him.

꩜ i don’t see andre as a cutter but he definitely punches himself/walls to self-regulate when he gets angry.

꩜ cal however does cut but is very embarrassed of it due to it being a “weak” and “girly” thing, so does it on his thighs and his upper arm to hide it better. the only person who has any idea about his cutting is andre who honestly enables cal by not commenting on it.

most people in the tcc ive met are surprisingly super nice to me but theres a few kinds of tcc peoplr ive noted

empaths who most of the time have some sort of interest related to psychology and fixate on different perpetrators bcs they relate to them emotionally or feel bad for them

violent people without empathy or narcissists who just like to see the world burn idk (the edgy ones)

anger management or people with bad impulse control, kinda like the 2nd one but theyre not sociopathic

the nerds who are neutral and js like the psychology behind killers and unraveling the cases

ones that find the perps attractive. (thats it yeah)

oh and the federal agents,,,, cant forget yall.
