Leaving my break for Lent quickly just to ask for some prayers.
My physical health has really deteriorated. I find it hard to stand up for any length of time without feeling sick and dizzy. It's difficult for me to eat. My body is constantly uncomfortable and sore. My mental health is incredibly bad right now. It is a struggle to make it through the day. I have a therapy session next week, which should be the start of me being in therapy.
My faith life has completely collapsed. Not so much as in that I've stopped believing in God, but just that I don't do anything about it. My prayer routine has completely collapsed. I spend much less time reading or thinking about the faith. And everything is kind of a vicious cycle that feeds into each other. Just as I was beginning to talk with my Priest about my interest in entering the Church, he had an accident breaking his arm and can no longer serve (please pray for him also!). It feels like I am completely stuck, with no idea of where to go or how to get out of any of this.

Tell me, what better service do silver-encrusted tables and chairs or ivory-inlaid beds and couches provide than their simpler counterparts? Yet for their sake the rich do not respond to the poor, not though thousands should come to their door crying with piteous voices. Indeed, you refuse to give anything, insisting that it is impossible to satisfy the needs of those who beg of you. You profess this to be true with your tongue, but your hand gives you the lie; silently, your hand bears witness to the falsehood, flashing as it does with the jewels from your ring. How many could you have delivered from want with but a single ring from your finger? How many households fallen into destitution might you have raised? In just one of your closets there are enough clothes to cover an entire town shivering with cold. You showed no mercy; it will not be shown to you. You opened not your house; you will be expelled from the Kingdom. You gave not your bread; you will not receive eternal life.
Saint Basil the Great; Sermon to the Rich

Saint Olga, since you converted to Christianity as an adult, and since you were a ruler of diverse peoples, you felt a deep concern for the welfare and unity of your nation.  Such is the plight of many converts who embrace the light of Christ amid the complications of their environment.  Strengthen all Christians, Saint Olga, in acceptance of Jesus Christ and in fruitfulness of the spiritual life. Even those who are raised in the Faith have burdens to place upon His mighty shoulders and therefore, in the inseparability of our Faith, each one of us brings these supplications to you:
Pray for us, that all followers of Jesus Christ may be gathered into one catholic and apostolic Church.
Pray for us, that all believers may intercede for one another and for this troubled and divided world.
Pray for us, that we may be united in the fatherland of Heaven through the tender mercies of God.
Pray for us, that we may esteem our ancestors and preserve the True Faith for our descendants.
Pray for us, Saint Olga, first saint of Russia and Equal-to-the-Apostles.

Hey, you are not an embarrassment for not knowing how to do certain household chores/basic self-care. They do not come naturally to us. A lot of it takes practice! Maybe you had a neglectful guardian. Maybe you had one that was very coddling and never thought to teach you. Maybe you haven't lived in a place where these things were available to you or needed. Doesn't matter. It's okay to not know and far more common than you might realise.
That said, this website provides very simple instructions on how to do everyday tasks such as making your bed, using a washing machine, cooking different foods, washing dishes, taking a shower, etc. All you have to do is use the search bar to find the task you're struggling with, and it'll come up with what you need + other related how-to's:)
If you're having trouble navigating it, let me provide you with some examples:
How to clean dishes by hand
How to make your bed (with visual demonstrations of each step!)
How to fold clothes (with visual demonstrations of each step!)
How to take a shower & dry yourself off (also provides ways to shave beards, armpits, legs and genitals)
How to shave legs, armpits, beards, pubic areas, etc. (a more in-depth guide)
How to mop the floor
How to sweep the floor
How to swallow pills
How to make small talk
How to make eye contact in different situations (or how to avoid it while still looking natural)
It's also perfectly okay if these don't help or aren't appealing to you. Unfortunately, nothing helps everyone.

If you are like me and live with BPD, I’m sure you may have at least heard of DBT. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is the type of therapy that has really turned my life around, so I’d like to make a Masterlist of resources both free and with cost.
FREE RESOURCES FOR LEARNING DBT:
A great website that teaches the skills is ⬇️
A great YouTube channel that has videos of Marsha (the creator of DBT)
A great podcast that teaches and discusses the skills is:
DBT RESOURCES THAT COST MONEY:
This is a great easy to learn card deck with the skills explained in concise ways.
This is a great workbook. It was made BY the lady who CREATED DBT.
This is a great book that delves into DBT at its core (and isn’t so much activity focused vs. explaining each skill)
That’s it! I’m not saying this type of therapy is FOR SURE going to be the right therapy for you, but it’s SO worth trying if you have Borderline Personality Disorder like me.
Hopefully this helps someone!

How to find resources in your area!
Finding help, like a psychiatrist or therapist can be difficult. Medical help can be difficult to find as well.
Here are some options to try:
Call or visit your local health department. Some health departments have a mental health department attached, but if not, they can most likely provide you with the information for your town or city's public mental health center.
Call or visit your insurance company's website. Most insurances have an online provider look up where you can find care providers covered by your insurance, but if you call, they can give you that info on the phone.
If you're seeing a primary care doctor already, consider asking them for a referral to what service you need.
"Those won't work for me, what else do you have?"
Here are some links to websites that can help you with finding resources.
Learn what services NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) provides here, then Find your local NAMI here.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) collects information on thousands of state-licensed providers who specialize in treating substance use disorders, addiction, and mental illness. Search for a provider near you in their directory here.
Need to apply for disability (SSI)? This website has all the things nobody tells you in easy terms.
List of resources for eating disorders can be found here.
this post will be edited to add more links and resources as i find them.
Want a specific question answered, looking for resources in your area and can't find any? Send me an ask, I'll do my best!

Envy is like that: it fights against its own good. The jealous person would prefer to suffer innumerable troubles rather than to see his neighbor in good repute, even if the cause of the good repute were to benefit him also. What could be more wretched than such a person?
On Wealth and Poverty, Saint John Chrysostom

recovery can be difficult and can take a lot longer than you expected. don’t be hard on yourself for getting burnt out. have compassion even when it feels like your not recovering “fast enough” or “correctly.” everyone is on their own path.

There is no other way to be saved, except through our neighbour ... This is purity of heart: when you see the sinful or the sick, to feel compassion for them and to be tender-hearted towards them.
-- The Homilies of Saint Macarius
