Norwegian is weird about love
If you love someone romantically, you love them (elsker)
If you love someone platonically, like a friend or family member, you are happy in them (er glad i)
If you love something, it is somewhat unusual to say you are happy in it, usually, you love it (elsker)
In order words, you may be happy in a friend, love a lover, and love Shrek (2001)

Spanish Suffixes -ura
The suffix -ura is a fairly common suffix and it is most often a word that you probably know as an adjective that is made a noun by -ura.
The -ura nouns are typically what people call ”abstract nouns”… which means that they often describe conditions or states that are subjective, or subject to change.
Also common is that -ura nouns mean “the state of”… but can sometimes be actual physical objects rather than qualities; like la rotura means “rupture” or “the state of being roto/a - broke” or “a chasm”, and la ruptura can mean “a rupture”, “a break-up”, or “interruption”
The thing to take away is that -ura nouns are typically making a particular adjective into a physical or abstract concept.
hondo/a = deep | la hondura = depth
fresco/a = fresh / cheeky | la frescura = freshness, newness OR chilliness OR nerve, cheekiness, audacity
alto/a = high, tall | la altura = height

amargo/a = bitter | la amargura = bitterness
tierno/a = tender | la ternura = tenderness
cuerdo/a = sane, mentally sound | la cordura = sanity, good mental health
loco/a = crazy | la locura = madness
agrimensor(a) = land surveyor | la agrimensura = land surveying
agricultor(a) = farmer / farmworker | la agricultura = agriculture

Dagens ord (Word of the day): å synes = to think
(as in, to have an opinion about something - not as in “ponder”, that’s “å tenke”)
A fitting quote for these days of end-of-term exams:
“Synes eksamen i går var så gøy at jeg skal ta den på nytt neste semester”
.
.
.
Translation:
“I think the exam yesterday was so fun that I’m going to take it again next semester”
“Synes” is a so-called “s verb”, basically just meaning that it ends with an “s” in both the infinitive and conjugated forms. Here’s the conjugation:

help a broke certified translator
hey so, it’s been a rough couple of months and i need to save money to move out so i’d really appreciate if you could check my gig on fivver and maybe even share it with your friends if you know they need it.
basically, i’ll translate 800 words from English to Spanish (or vice versa) for $5 (USD), and then there’s some extras, for example, for every 500 more words you want me to translate, i’ll charge another $5, etc.

Inneklemt dag
In Norway, whenever a holiday falls on a Tuesday or a Thursday, it is common to take an extra day off from work or school, to avoid working for a single day before taking more time off as soon as the weekend arrives. The phenomenon is known as inneklemt dag (m), “squeezed in day”. Often the resulting three or four days of mini vacation is known as langhelg (m/f), “long weekend”.
This May, there has been particularly many of them:
Tuesday May 1 was International Workers’ Day, and caused April 30th to be inneklemt.
May 10 was the Feast of the Ascension, making Friday impractical to work on.
May 17 is the Norwegian Constitution Day, making a lot of people happy to take time off from work on Friday.
Whit Monday (Pentecost Monday) occurs on May 21 this year, causing an extra long streak of public holidays.
