The best places to visit in Barcelona
Tumblr media
This list of the best places to visit in Barcelona will help you organize your visit to this cosmopolitan city full of charming corners. After its transformation and opening to the Mediterranean Sea in the 1992 Olympic Games, the city known as Ciudad Condal has become one of the most visited cities in Europe and the world. One of its main attractions, in addition to its extensive offer of cultural and leisure activities, are the impressive architectural jewels of modernism such as the Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera and Park Güell, built by the famous architect Antoni Gaudí. As well as visiting all these buildings, it is also worth getting lost in the most emblematic neighbourhoods such as the Gothic, the Born, Barceloneta or Gracia, and finishing the routes at one of the spectacular viewpoints. Another of its great attractions is its excellent gastronomy of tapas and traditional Catalan dishes, which will delight every good palate.
Based on the numerous times we have visited this city, in the last one we wrote this guide of Barcelona, we have made this list of what we believe are the 10 most beautiful places to see in Barcelona. We begin, but we recommend the best spanish school barcelona.
The Sagrada Familia
Entering the Expiatory Temple of the Sagrada Familia, the unfinished masterpiece of the brilliant architect Gaudí, is one of the best things to do in Barcelona. Gaudí, the greatest exponent of Catalan modernism, took the reins of the construction of this church in 1883, of which the first stone had been laid a year earlier, leaving all the plans for future architects to complete the work on his death in 1926. The interior and exterior of La Sagrada Família are a marvel, nothing comparable to other churches in the world. Gaudí used all his experience and new techniques, creating a naturalistic style, where all its elements flow in complete harmony. On the outside, the 3 façades dedicated to the Nativity, Passion and Glory of Jesus and the towers that will reach 172 meters when the monument is finished, stand out. This is expected to happen in the year 2026, which has been set as the deadline, and once it is finished it will become the tallest Christian church in the world, so as you can imagine, we are already looking forward to seeing it in its maximum splendour.
To enter the Sagrada Familia, you have to take into account that it is one of the most visited monuments in Europe, long queues are formed as well as a limited number of daily tickets, which are sold out quite quickly. To get to this essential visit in Barcelona, located far from the center, you can take the lines 2 and 5 that stop at Sagrada Familia or the city bus. Visiting hours: every day from April to September from 9am to 8pm, March and October closes at 7pm and the other months at 6pm.
Gothic Quarter
The Barrio Gótico, located in the heart of the city, is the oldest and most beautiful neighbourhood to be seen in Barcelona. Its origin dates back to Roman times, when some remains of the old city of Barcino can still be seen, although it reached its peak during the Middle Ages with the construction of Gothic churches and palaces. One of its most famous churches is the Cathedral of Santa Creu i Santa Eulàlia, a 14th century Gothic marvel that stands out for its façade and an interior with a beautiful cloister and a choir carved in wood, which will leave you speechless. After visiting this church we recommend you get lost in its narrow streets starting from Carrer del Bisbe and finding magical places to visit in Barcelona such as Sant Felip Neri Square, Palau del Bisbe, the Temple of Augustus, King's Square, Sant Jaume Square, Santa Ana Church and the magnificent Royal Square.
Batlló House
This jewel of Catalan modernism, located on the elegant Paseo de Gracia, impresses you at first sight with its spectacular facade inspired by the organic forms of nature. In addition to marvelling at its exterior, we recommend you enjoy an interior full of magic and fantasy thanks to its undulating forms, the patio of lights and the rooftop full of surprising chimneys. It is interesting to take the virtual reality audio guide (smartguides) that will take you back to the past, when the architect commissioned by the rich businessman Josep Batlló, began with the remodelling of this old house until it became a landmark of world architecture. After leaving Casa Batlló, we recommend that you spend some time in the neighbouring buildings of Casa Amatller, Casa Josefina Bonet, Casa Mulleras and Casa Lleó Morera, all of which are brilliant works of modernist architecture and which together form the so-called Manzana de la discordia (apple of discord). Visiting hours: every day from 9h to 21h (last access at 20h).

Barcelona: Beaches, soccer and beautiful neighborhoods
Tumblr media
CAMP NOU
Since its construction in 1957, the Camp Nou has been the stadium with the largest capacity in Europe and one of the largest in the world.
During the tour, the visitor can access the changing rooms, as well as the grass, the presidential seats, the bench and the press room, ending the visit at the F.C. Barcelona Museum, a space that allows to know the history of the club along more than 100 years. Without a doubt one of the most interesting places to visit in Barcelona.
DIVE IN ITS BEACHES
Since the 1990s, when all the city's beaches were refurbished and cleaned, Barcelona has become one of Europe's most important beach destinations. Many tourists come to the city in search of sun and beaches. The most popular and crowded beaches to visit in Barcelona are undoubtedly the Barceloneta beach , Somorrostro, Sant Miguel and Sant Sebastiá. The city also has the Mar Bella beach, one of the best nudist beaches in Spain.
VISIT THE GOTHIC QUARTER
Located in the heart of the city, the Gothic Quarter is the oldest and most charming area to visit in Barcelona. Its narrow and labyrinthine medieval streets are the ideal setting to enjoy the city centre without rushing.
In the neighbourhood you will find beautiful squares such as the Plaza Real, a spectacular neoclassical square that is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Spain; beautiful streets such as the Carrer des Bisbe, the imposing cathedral of Barcelona and the old Jewish quarter of the city.
I can't stop recommending "El Bosque de las Hadas". One of the most picturesque places to visit in Barcelona, a fairytale bar located in an alley right next to the Wax Museum. The place is decorated like an enchanted forest, with many fantasy figures, without forgetting the soundtrack that imitates the sounds of the forest with sounds of crickets and other night animals. Everything will make this visit one of the most special and fantastic that you can do in Barcelona.
TOUR THE SPANISH VILLAGE
The Spanish Village, like the Magic Fountain, was built for the 1929 International Exhibition. It is one of the most unique places to visit in Barcelona, a space of 49,000 square meters located in the heart of the city, specifically in the area of Montjüit.
In the Pueblo Español 117 buildings, streets and squares are reproduced, representing the most beautiful corners of some of the towns in Spain.

The 3 best places in Barcelona
Tumblr media
Surprise with La Pedrera
The Casa Mila is a fantastic modernist building built by Gaudi between 1906 and 1912 considered one of the most important to visit in Barcelona. It is popularly known as La Pedrera due to its rustic look. Nowadays it is still a residential building where you can visit the recreation of a house belonging to a bourgeois family from Barcelona at the beginning of the 20th century and the roof, a sensational space from where you can enjoy great views of the city centre.
DELIGHT IN THE BOQUERIA MARKET
Located on the popular Ramblas, the Boqueria market is one of the most important places to visit in Barcelona. It is an area of 2,500 square meters along which are located more than 300 stalls.
The market is an explosion of colors, smells and tastes one of the essential places if you visit Barcelona but due to its popularity and the volume of tourists it receives makes the visit somewhat crowded.
WALK ALONG THE RAMBLAS
Without a doubt, Las Ramblas is one of the best known streets to visit in Barcelona. The walk along this 1.3 kilometre long artery is a real delight. On your way you will find dozens of street artists, as well as colorful flower stands and terraces where you can sit and watch hundreds of Barcelona residents and tourists come and go.
It is an essential visit that must be made with great caution, as dozens of pickpockets work in this street, which can make your visit a disappointment. To prevent scares I recommend you to take out a good travel insurance, with which you will not only be protected in case of theft or loss of luggage, but also, in case your nationality is not Spanish, you will be covered in health terms. This is something very serious so if you want to travel with total peace of mind to all the places you visit in Barcelona I recommend you to hire the insurance through my blog or any reliable website. As a reader of "Los Viajes de Domi", you will have a 5% discount when you contract your insurance with Mondo.

¿What do you must visit in Barcelona?
Tumblr media
Located on the shores of the Mediterranean, many people come to Barcelona not only in search of culture, but also in search of sun, beaches, parties or shopping, because the Catalan capital has much to offer the visitor, not in vain is one of the most visited cities in Europe.
VISIT TO THE SAGRADA FAMILIA
The Sagrada Familia is the best known and most characteristic monument to visit in Barcelona. As the maximum exponent of the modernist architecture created by Gaudí, it is considered one of the most important and visited monuments in the country.
Its construction began in 1882 with a neo-Gothic style. Gaudí designed an exceptional and innovative temple that was to be composed of 18 towers, although he finally only had time to create one of them before his death. However, thanks to the funds obtained through donations and visits, the temple is gradually being built.
The monument certainly does not leave the visitor indifferent. Its spectacular and modern exterior is only comparable to its amazing interior built with tree-trunk shaped columns that turn it into a huge stone forest.
WALK IN THE GÜELL PARK
Inaugurated in 1922, Park Güell was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. It is an extension of more than 17 hectares where Gaudí let his imagination fly. A fairytale place covered by undulating forms, tree-like columns, animal figures and geometric shapes all in beautiful colours, it is considered the most important park to visit in Barcelona.
The central point of the park is a large square in which there is a huge bench 110 meters long, with the appearance of a snake covered by small pieces of pottery. Going down its beautiful steps you will find the famous dragon fountain.
Next to the main entrance of the park, just in front of the steps of the dragon fountain, there are two little fairy tale houses that are one of the most important and recognizable places to visit in Barcelona. One of them works as a shop while the other, the Casa del Guarda, houses audiovisual exhibitions about the park's past.
In the park you will also find the Gaudí House Museum where the architect lived between 1906 and 1925.
DISCOVER ANOTHER OF GAUDÍ'S MASTERPIECES
The Casa Batlló is one of the most visited and best valued tourist places by visitors, as well as one of the most important to visit in Barcelona. It is also considered one of the most original buildings in the world. Its construction took place between 1904 and 1906 by commission of the wealthy Josep Batlló to Gaudí.
The amazing building can be visited with video guides of augmented reality included in the entrance and available in 11 languages, discovering really surprising corners like the attractive patio of lights and the roof with its mythical chimneys.
