What do you have to say about looters then? If there's peaceful protest, why are people destroying business?

hey so i actually don't care about looting and destroying big businesses, I really don't. Yes, some people do take the opportunity of "civil unrest" to just steal shit from malls or whatever, and they're most likely not part of the movement, but at the same time, I don't give a fuck.

Media outlets will sensationalize looters and agitators for a reason. It will disturb the comfortable, it will make people think that true freedom fighters are the bad guys. This is on purpose. This is for a reason. I explain that clearly in my post. And, typically, people tend to avoid small/local businesses and go for big chains, megacorps, giant brands, etc. From experience, if people DO hassle small businesses, organizers or fellow protestors will put a stop to that. But if I see someone throwing a brick at Chase bank, I will look away and simply not see it, because if someone is destroying a bank, no they're not. It will ALWAYS be people over property in my mind, and it should be your mantra, too.

We are forcefed the idea that property is utmost important, that property theft is a cardinal sin, that Target should remain pure and untouched, that Walmart is off limits. But as long as you're not hurting poor minimum wage workers, I really dgaf. There was a point of my life where I had to lift food because I was so poor, and half of the time, if an employee saw me, they would look away. I have been an employee looking away when someone steals food too.

Also, please know that MAGAts, feds, and other fucking freaks are PURPOSELY PLANTING THEMSELVES AS AGITATORS to rile up the rest of the crowd, and to also make a movement look bad. You have to recognize this. There's also asshats who don't give a fuck about a movement and just want to live out their edgy 15 year old boy anarchist wet dream, and most of the time, people will keep them in check or simply remove them from the group.

Again, don't let people tell you that peaceful protest is a thing. Don't waste your time trying to make it happen either. Facists will always escalate, in contrary to their position of "deescalation" and "to serve and protect."

hi. would just like to say, as someone who has been and is currently some boots on the ground/a protestor in the united states, PLEASE use your brains when reading the news. News outlets have and will exaggerate, they will highlight agitators to make it seems like a movement is full of rioting looters, they will do everything in their power to make use look bad, and it's a rightwinger's wet dream. News outlets will purposely skew protests to make YOU hate the movement. They will make you think that WE are the ones destroying our own communities, when, in fact, ICE/Homeland Security/Border Patrol/ETC are the ones destroying our communities by tearing families apart, purposely injuring protestors, and always choosing to escalate the most peaceful of demonstrations.

That being said, it is well within a citizen's right to damage property, light fires, throw shit at cops, when the police, government, and military have chosen violence to the fullest extent. Violence will always beget violence. If you expect marginalized groups to be peaceful and kind in the face of fascism, you need to take a long good look in the mirror and identify where this thought process comes from. "but- but- MLK was peaceful!" and the government killed him, too.

It is ALWAYS a good day to smash a fascist's face in. Don't let the media tell you otherwise.

hey btw it's under discussion whether native americans are citizens are not, using to justify abolishing birthright citizenship. several US CITIZENS have been detained by ICE simply because they didn't have an ID while out walking. i do not know if i will be considered a person or what will happen to me soon. and a majority of the people around me feel the same.

i will be honest. i am super stressed and anxious for obvious reasons but seeing posts that are like "americans dug their own graves and deserve this" is making me want to claw my eyes out. a majority of the people who WILL suffer from this are minorities. there's ICE presence in my city right now, a majority of my family and friends are undocumented and are terrified for their lives. i'm transgender, my partner is transgender. another majority of my friends are queer. this is horrifying and we're being punished for something we did not want.
