My work explores a zone between abstraction and printed mass media. I approach collage in the same way a painter may activate their canvas, using found colors and forms as stand-ins for the painted surface. Themes of nostalgia, antiquated technology and consumerism permeate the small pieces. My materials include discarded books, manuals, magazines and found paper. At the heart of my practice lies the poetic potential found in these materials and the reframing of their utility. The catalyst that drives my work is the compulsion for visual arrangement and order. Composition of shape, color, and image is how I instinctively engage with my entropic environment.
