"Trollhunter... Tell me something." Skrael's voice lilts across the space between them. "Why did Myrddin choose a child to fight?"

"That's a question I don't have the answer to and I always ask myself why. Why me?" Jim trailed off, sighing in confusion. A soft frown plastered across his face, "When you say Myrddin, you mean Merlin, right?" He asked to make sure, looking over to Skrael. He wasn't afraid of Skrael at all.

Jim looked rather panicked, still running. "You better!" He shouted at Jiki, his tone sounding rather stern and yet worried. Is there anything he can do to help Jiki? Anything?

jiki growls, aiming at the beast to strike him with an arrow as he continued to follow after jim.

"i promise i'll explain once this thing is down!" he shouts, nocking another arrow. he's a little rusty on the aim, but something about the stones make his aim truer. the beast howls as the arrow makes contact.

This song made me think about how things played out....and how Jim blamed himself for everything.

Okay...so if ROTT created a time loop where toby and Jim trade off on the amulet, then....this must also happen within Toby's timeline...

@bluheaven-adw your post reminded me of an idea I had of one of the ways Jim could be revealed to Toby in the new timeline.

Blinky and Vendel get to Toby and manage to sway his opinion on changelings despite Jim's best efforts to get his friend to keep an open mind about them. Toby leans more towards the idea of extinguishing Morgana's creatures from this world while Jim defends the beings, reminding himself that Toby doesn't know that they have friends/allies that are changelings.

Eventually the dispute grows until Toby is accusing Jim of being one of the evil beings, a spy, his enemy, because why else would his best friend be so adamant about sparing something that Blinky and Vendel insist are irredeemable creatures?

In his anger and frustration, Toby takes a swing at Jim.

Rather than dodge or block, Jim surprises everyone by summoning Daylight to his own hands and throwing Toby to the ground, sword held out in warning.

Jim knows he can't hide any longer, not without risking the timeline.

“What the—!” Jim exclaims in shock, seeming genuinely surprised. “Jiki? What—what is—?!” He’s still running. “Jiki! You have a lot to explain, do you hear me?” He snapped, sounding quite firm and a bit surprised.

Jimtober Day 1: Team Up!!

"Wait, what? What are you doing, Jiki?" Jim exclaims worriedly, frowning a bit in worry. Should he take Jiki's advice? He can feel his heart pounding, seeming torn on listening to Jiki or staying put to help Jiki. "I'm not leaving you behind!" He huffed out anxiously, refusing to move.

the beast snarls. it's onto both of them, tracking their scents. its head whipping back and forth as it lurches forward. the troll gets the human behind him, the bright glow of the amulet giving jim away, but there's something jiki could do.

"seriously, run, fleshbag!" he says it sharply, absentmindedly - fleshbag has kind of taken a bit of a nickname for his younger self, but right now, he wants jim to live. getting him out of here, as he tries to figure out what the beast is... when his stone skin can take hits much better, even if daylight is protecting him.

his hand goes for the satchel at the small of his back, not for the knife, but the amulet, and a handful of gems. he knows them by touch, and digs out the set of six carefully chipped and cleaved stones, plugging them into the empty divots of the back of his amulet. jiki just hopes jim doesn't see, at least at first.
