when he said he had no other plans, she gave him a tired smile, kind of happy he didn't. the kettle screamed and she poured some water into a mug for him with his tea and set it down before placing everything he could use for it. "uhm, you pick the genre," she murmured. "animated, action, superhero-esque, drama..." seryn sipped from her drink and she wrinkled up her nose. she watched the way he gnawed at his lower lip and she reached up to run her lower lip over it, almost to soothe it. the action itself startled her and her eyes widened a little, "i'm sorry, i shouldn't have just done that," she mumbled and pulled her hand away. "food would be great. i'll eat anything." she rubbed her forehead and headed into the sitting room where she got comfortable on her couch and turned the television on.

he doesn't interupt her, allows her to respond to his question with all the thoughts that she wishes to expose. what follows is a shake of his head, "no - i've got no other plans." he didn't have a particularly exciting life, in spite of the career he'd ended up in. the deadline for this particularly job was steadliy approaching and whilst knowing that usually, by now, he'd have already ended a life. he isn't yet able to admit to himself that he's not quite able to end hers. "what movie would you like to watch?" his head tilts with curiosity, teeth gnawing at his bottom lip. he doesn't mind to spend some time in quiet, in purgatory, for lack of a better word. "maybe i can order us some food. if you're hungry..."

she smiled against her wife's lips and gave a playful roll of her eyes, "you act as if you're ancient. look at you. you're stunning for your age and in better shape than most people half our age." honey grinned and sighed as she plated their food and set it on the kitchen table. she poured them both wine and slid into her chair. "oh, it was productive. but young actors? so fucking frustrating. kids these days think they're so entitled and it drives me up the fucking wall."

"as you should!" she smiles in response, before reciprocating the kiss. "not too bad. rehearsals are exhausting, though i suspect they'll just get more and more so as i get more and more older." a snort follows her words, fingers combing through her hair; pulling it back into a messy bun. "how was your day?"

she very much doubted it, honestly. emma rolled her shoulders and took another drag from her cigarette before she blew smoke towards the stars. she took a deep breath and held her pack out for him to take one, "of course not." she shook her head as he leaned against the wall beside her and she bit into her lower lip. "the party was getting to be too much so i came out here to smoke and get high..." she pulled out a little baggie of pills in her pocket and took two before she held that out for him, too. "like we used to."

"an easy thing to forget to mention," he murmurs unconvincingly in response, certain without a shadow of doubt that the fact being kept from emma was a purposeful choice. anthony's hands slip into his pockets, one foot pressed firm against the wall as he opts to stand right next to her. "not spoiling your fun, i hope?"

the blonde grinned when she watched valeria wiggle her eyebrows at her before she's laughing. she leaned over for another kiss and hummed into her mouth. "getting drinks is perfect." she sighed and climbed off of the chair. she walked over to the freezer to grab them ice before she was making them both screwdrivers. she sipped from hers before handing one over to her girlfriend. she put everything away and hopped up onto the counter to watch the other woman work her magic. while things were cooking, she stretched her legs out to wrap them around valeria's waist to pull her flush against the counter. her arms curled around her girlfriend's neck and she slotted their lips together in a deep, passionate kiss. her fingers tangled in the other woman's dark curls and she breathed her in. once her lungs were practically screaming for air, she pulled away and smiled against valeria's lips. "just needed to do that."

there's a moment of silence, as she considers how to respond to lauren's words - opting to keep it simple. "yeah it can," she murmurs, wiggling her brows playfully, before allowing a confidence-filled smile to curl at the corners of her mouth. "getting drinks, if that's okay?" valeria smiles, content in her girlfriend's presence, whatever the night becomes. she's quick to concoct a mixture to make them both spanish tortillas. certain foods she can create with her eyes closed - this being one of them.

she set the bag of food down onto the table and she sighed as she curled up on the couch again. she pulled a face, "jesus christ," she whispered. "there really is no fucking hope. whether your a kid of a woman in her eighties." she started unpacking the food and handed him a fork. "i'm not gonna be able to eat all of this by myself, so..." she slid onto the floor in front of the couch and pressed her back to it before she opened one of the containers and dug in. she hadn't eaten all day, really. the only source of energy was caffeine, so her stomach hadn't really been thanking her. when she ate the big bite, she hummed around her fork and ran her fingers through her hair. she tipped her head back and groaned before she took another bite and grabbed a napkin to wipe her mouth with. she sipped from her drink and rubbed the back of her neck again. part of her couldn't believe she was sat here eating take-away with joshil, but the other part of her felt at peace with it, honestly.

he listens to the interaction unfold, struggling to keep the amused smirk from his lips. eyes roll and he shakes his head, as she wanders back into the sitting room. "in my experience manners are a rare trait in anybody, these days." he shrugs a shoulder. it certainly made his job easier. everyone was so rude, the conscience that josh had obtained wasn't kicked into action particularly often. "the other day i walked passed an old lady throwing her middle finger up at a school bus of kids - they couldn't have been older than eight or nine. there's no fucking hope." he shakes his head, disapproval filling his expression, even if he was well aware that he was in no position to judge. he did though, still. he only conned people who were - for all intents and purposes - corrupt, after all.

when he followed her into the kitchen and mentioned tea, she nodded her head and put the kettle on. she poured herself a drink and put the bottle away before taking a sip, "me? oh god, i'm just going to hang out. boring as all hell," she laughed. "especially after all of that chaos, but i think that would probably be better for me. do you wanna hang out and watch a movie or something?" she asked and rubbed at her forehead. she yawned again, "if i stay up long enough to watch it all the way through. how do you take your tea?" she asked and ran her fingers through her damp hair. she watched him tap his fingers against the counter and smiled. "you must have other plans, though..."

for a moment, no matter how brief, he stands still contemplating his options, or lack there of. it wasn't often he found himself hesitating over a job, but this one had given him pause. there was so much more to seryn than met the eye, and he's left grappling with the morals and the guilt he didn't even know he'd procured. after allowing himself a second to fall into the depths of his thoughts, he follows her lead. "a tea would be fine." he concurs softly, both hands tapping their own rhytyms. figured if he hadn't become an assassin, a drummer wouldn't have been the worst profession. "how are you spending the rest of your night?"

"i pride myself in that...being a tough one. i always had to be," she chuckled and shook her head. she mirrored her smile and wrinkled up her nose a little bit. preston came barging into her life out of nowhere and she'd grown so close to him. her smile widened as he teased her and she inhaled sharply when he raised his hand to grasp her chin. she leaned in and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "thank you. you've done so much already. -- do you want something to drink? tea? something stronger?" she asked and cupped his face for a moment before she pulled away and brushed past him to walk into the kitchen of her apartment. she rubbed the back of her neck and yawned into her hand before she pulled out a bottle of whiskey.

there's an irony in it, he supposes. concern enveloping his features, all the while he knows exactly what he's been paid to do. "as long as you're sure. you're a tough one." the scotsman speaks with authenticity and pride, allowing a subtle, soft smile to rest against the corners of his mouth. preston wasn't one to care for anybody. at least not often. he had enough friend's to count them on one hand, and no family to speak of. many were excused for convinving the man was soulless and heartless, even he was tempted to believe it. "you sure there's nothing i can do? blue paper towel or something?" he teases then, hand raising with hesitancy, to allow his thumb and forefinger to grasp at her chin, inspecting her wounds with intricacy.

"you know, i told you i would be okay after a shower. drunken bar fights are my absolute speciality, but i sobered up a little." she smiled gently and then grimaced when the smile pulled at her busted lip. she looked in the mirror and sighed as she brushed her fingertips against the bruising over her cheek and up towards her eye. "even if it's with men three times my size..." seryn grinned over at preston and leaned back against the bathroom counter, folding her arms over her chest.
