Ty couldn’t understand what was happening to them. The private photographer they had hired through the Living Doll Dress Shop to take their pre-prom photos had come, a young lady in a beautiful green satin top.

Light stands surrounded the mounted camera, strobing repeatedly, throwing them off balance.

Was the sun on their face making their vision blurry, or the lights? The lights. Lights. What were they thinking about again?

Ty’s arms grew limp, hanging at the sides of the delicate lavender prom gown. As they hung, posed, doll-like, they could feel their joints stiffen, their knees lock under the dress, as their mind drifted away. They tried to lift one foot, clad in matching high heels, but it was useless.

The photographer saw the mobile mannequinization process wind down, and checked over the prom-attendee-turned-display-doll.
