1. hello!! any fics wher we get more backstory, lore or details about wei changze? in canon we as the audience knows almost nothing about wwx's parents, just as wwx himself, and when i see it being explored on fics it's usually just focusing on cangse sanren and her connection to baoshan sanren and xiao xingchen.

i wanted to see fics that talk about wei changz3 as more than a servant and a footnote, only coming up to remind wwx that he is the son of a servant (if he really is one, since wcz was a powerful cultivator? jfm's right hand man??), which very on brand with the mdzs cultivation society, but also as his own person

+ not necessary but if it features wwx being his father's spitting image, or even fics that just mention that he looks just like his dad

I read one about wwx transmigrating into an a/b/o world were he was married to lwj and I loved it.

B) Wwx and Lwj get reincarnated, both of them do (as in neither of them cultivate towards immortality.) Then they meet again, whether they recognize each other or fall in love again and remember later. Although I'd prefer that the reincarnation isn't just some modern au of canon- it doesn't even need to have the rest of the cast. Even being born with different names is okay.

C) The last one: wwx and lwj are the juniors' high school teachers who haven't met previous to the job, and the juniors set them up/discover their relationship.

This is a fantastic James Bond AU. He may not be in the Quartermaster’s branch but Q can’t escape tech, and imagining him dealing with other mundane IT tasks in between his calls with James is hilarious. The banter between the two of them while Q is saving James’ missions is great, as are Q’s coworkers and the assumptions they make because a 00 agent knows him by name.

This was my first half-letter typeset. I had a lot of fun choosing fonts for when James was leaving hand-written notes with his questionable gifts and when the two were communicating via computer. Of course, after everything was printed and bound I found a rather glaring error, but such is life. This is also when I discovered that you shouldn’t leave paper in prolonged contact with the bare wood of my press - it acted like a bit of a sponge and transferred enough extra moisture to make the edges of the page a little wavy. It’s mostly noticeable on the top and tail of the book rather than the fore edge and trimming helped a little with the problem. Still - good to know for future projects!

It would have made sense to go with very boring, understated materials for the cover but for some reason I settled on lime green endpapers, which dictated everything else. I’d had this rather bizarre piece of scrapbook paper hanging around in stash since college so now was its time to shine. Not exactly what you’d expect when looking at the demure navy blue of the spine, but it’s fun.

They were unnatural fast, strong and healed from most injuries but they were also nearly blind in daylight mostly using their sense of smell to differentiate between human and vampire by their pheromones. Will Graham had managed to keep his freedom so far by utilizing one simple fact: Vampire bodies weren´t very different from human bodies so any human could release vampire pheromones if they only convinced their body that they were a vampire. Seems like that Empathy Disorder might come in handy. He just wished vampires wouldn´t produce the most pheromones while hunting, visiting a crime scene every other week was most likely not a healthy hobby.

A) Wei Ying really really likes Lan Zhan and behaves like a besotted bird that he is: flutters arpund him, tries to get his attention, pokes at him, flirts, gives gifts, help and compliments, craves to spend time with him, all that stuff. Besotted, in love, reckless, one-point-focused and all that! And Lan Zhan is also a flustered boy in love, may be embarrassed of his reaction, but also loves the attention and reciprocates in his own way. All fluff and happy stuff, may be them as teenagers or adults, any setting.

B) More angst: Wei Ying is in love and tries to court Lan Zhan (maybe as described above, maybe more proper/official way). But Lan Zhan is either too strictly raised to accept such attention, or thinks it is a joke, or is too frustrated by Wei Ying, maybe even thinks he dislikes him. He is cold, aloof, maybe outright rude and dismissive, maybe even lashes out on Wei Ying. Seeing that he is not wanted, not as a lover or just a friend, Wei Ying gives up out of respect/hurt, distances himself, behaves proper, quiet, maybe even starts behaving as their difference in social standing says he should (i think i was that somewhere, & we know that's a bit nope, ofc). And that is when it hits Lan Zhan what he really wants and what he himself pushed away. Awkwardness, apologies, hesistance on Wei Ying's part, tentative reconciliation and accepted confessions. Any amount of angst, but please a happy ending 🥰

Bucky bites the inside of his cheek to keep from grinning as he catches on.

"Boss trying to talk you into working overtime again?" Bucky asks, putting as much fake worry into his tone as possible and leaning into Steve.

(Or: Work friends Bucky and Steve get into the habit of helping each other escape uncomfortable, awkward, or bad situations. Their escape plans get increasingly elaborate as their friendship gets increasingly close. That's probably why their whole office thinks they're actually dating.)

A Kiss Just Waiting to Happen (AU: College | Teen | 3,470 words | Complete | No warnings)

Steve doesn't like losing. At anything.

So he's not planning to lose this, even if he's hardly had time to sleep all week. And even if some of this round's challenges are, in his opinion, sort of ridiculous. Some of them, like find someone with the same initials and birthday as you and post a picture with them, or take a picture of yourself at the highest and lowest geographical point on campus at midnight on two consecutive days — feel a little uninspired to him, but at least they're easy enough.

But others, like kiss a stranger are — Steve's pretty sure they're just really ridiculous.

Steve Rogers walking through his door is always a challenge — something that always makes holding up his casually friendly bartender facade very difficult.

It's harder tonight. The relief that floods Bucky at the sight of Steve's familiar features is so overwhelming that he has to ball his hands into fists and take a long breath to hide his less-than-calm emotions.

Bucky turned a corner and discovered a blond guy holding a can of spray paint and writing on the dingy alley walls. The guy had looked up at the sound of Bucky's footsteps, and Bucky'd found himself being stared at by massive blue eyes. The guy'd been wrapped in a pin-covered jacket, there'd been a scowl on his face, and Bucky'd fallen for him before either of them had said a word.

(Or: It's the late 1970s, and two boys from Brooklyn spend most of their days breaking the law. Bucky, because there's no other way to work off a debt owed to dangerous people. Steve, because maybe if he paints his message on the side of the C Train, someone will finally listen. Meeting each other doesn't change anything. Until it changes everything.)

Summary: “We rest in the shade of trees our ancestors planted.” They called the man in the ice Yiling Laozu, after a folk hero associated with the town in the foothills of the mountains where he was found. No one expected him to be alive! Kay's comments: I have never been less surprised to see that a story was written by a PhD student. The end notes at the end of each chapter are very extensive and just amazing. So much information, so much research, 363k of an incredible story that had me completely hooked. I read it in a week and could hardly focus on anything else, because that story was just so present in the back of my mind and I wanted to know what would happen next. Got introduced to the story by the stunning art by @toffee-arts. I loved the entire plotline of Wei Wuxian having to first learn modern Chinese in order to speak to the scientists (and mostly Lan Zhan) who decided to thaw his supossed corpse. I love how it all came together, how it all wrapped up neatly and the slow burn! The slow burn almost killed me! And how cultivation just awed everyone in modern day!! I just know this story is going to be a favourite I will re-read again and again and there are certainly a lot of details I must have missed during my obsessed binge. Excerpt: Everyone in the observation room tensed. This was, after all, the most delicate point. If it wasn’t going to be possible to remove the ice without beginning to thaw Yiling Laozu, they would have to move very quickly to preserve some of the data they wanted. The cellular damage caused by the freezing process meant that once the ice thawed, the damage would spread rapidly. Lan Wangji glanced at Wen Yuan. “Leave if you need to,” he told the boy quietly. Wen Yuan shook his head. “No, I want to stay…” Lan Wangji wasn’t certain what caught his attention – a flicker of movement from the corner of his eye, a hint of sound, a flash of intuition. He looked up to see Lan Xichen slam into the window. Drop out of sight, stunned by the impact. Beyond, shards of shattered ice fell from black robes scattered across the floor as Yiling Laozu’s body tumbled off the lab table— Twisted. Landed on his feet. Stood. Piercing silvery-grey eyes flickered across the room, wary and confused. Lan Wangji froze. Yiling Laozu was awake. …Yiling Laozu was alive.

Hello, wonderful and fabulous person. First of all, I am so sorry that I just got to this! Second, reveal yourself so that I may smooch you. I have to admit that I am very guilty of finding not much time for reading, myself. Being so new to fannish spaces, I jumped right in with creating for hours on end every week, and almost never have time for reading as much as I'd like to and so much of the reading I have done is in physical zine format!

So if it's alright with you, I'll recommend you a mix of authors moreso than fics:

You can't go wrong with any of the works by @gunstreet (Here at AO3). Her storytelling is impeccable, and her propensity for writing their banter and wit is a delight. She has a great sense of who these characters are, down to their very souls. Check out The Promised Land and Let Forever Be.

Jenna Sinclair, who is one of the incredible people who defined K/S fanon, has written several novels. Her phrasing is masterful and it's no wonder she defined so much of how we think about K/S today. The first novel in the series is Sharing the Sunlight.

For something on the smuttier side, Amanda Warrington is delightful. AnnaKnitsSpock has some lovely works as well. If you like your sensuality punctuated with a delightful, campy strangeness about it, CampySpaceSlime is the one for you.

That, and I love zines. I love to flip through them, but so many of the stories in there are only in the zines themselves. But the good news is a ton of them have been archived here at AO3 and there are so many hidden gems waiting to be found. I'm a tragedy enjoyer as you might have noticed, and the angst in some of the older works really hits the spot. :)
