Hi, I made this blog because I talked about dolls too much irl and annoyed my family, so now it's mostly contained here. This page is my posts; I reblog to orpheoscurse! pro-artist/anti-recast. 18+ they/them 🖤

Good as new? No. Good enough? Yes!
I guess I didn't take any before photos, but I got this delicate glass perfume vial in high school, and it's been in a box most of the time since. The other week, I opened it up and saw that it had shattered!
I don't really know anything about repairing glass, but uv resin worked before, so I just carefully stuck the pieces together as best I could with resin. I really just didn't want it to be lying around broken, so even if it's not perfect, eh. It was just a random little souvenir perfume I got like fifteen years ago, and now it's not broken glass in a box. I'm sad the perfume all spilled and evaporated though :/

New and very tiny boys!
I had preordered something for my sister for her birthday, and it took forever to come in, so while I was waiting I added a Beelzemon figure kit that I'll work on later to my cart, and I also spotted this micromaster two-pack. Now, did I immediately add it to my cart because I saw Stakeout and thought he was Holi? I mean, maybe. I mean, yeah. Listen, I've been loving Victory lately, especially the rescue team, and especially our favorite little cuck Holi, so I just want my own Holi.
Plus, I've never been able to resist the tiny little guys. They're just so cute. So little O.O

Sittin' waitin' at the gynecologist super stressed out but at least I have still-not-repainted Knock Out to keep me company as they ask me questions over and over and then leave me in a room alone. He's a doctor you know.

In my deep look through the pictures saved to my email, I stumbled across this picture of Macey from 2012 when she was snailcatting with my TFA backpack, and I put it with one from about a year ago, when she was sleeping on the heated pile of blankets where we kept the kittens' carrier (it was never clear how much she actually noticed what the squirmy little fuzzbeans were when they were this small, but with her general hatred for any other cat, that was probably a good thing).
I honestly keep finding myself getting sad thinking about her, but I guess grief is just like that?? I'm just baffled by human emotions??? But either way, she was a model, if not a model citizen.

As I was looking at old photos I emailed myself from my phone in college, I stumbled on these that I took when it snowed that one time! It's kind of wild how few photos I have from back then, since nowadays I'll commit anything to memory card, but these are most of them, and they have an almost analog charm that makes me realize that 2013 was over a decade ago.
It was so wild seeing (southern) Arizonans react to the snow tho. I had only moved from Michigan like six or so years before this, so I was still pretty used to the idea of snow, but for some of the people in the dorms near us who ran outside to see the weather, it was their first time ever seeing snow without explicitly driving up into the mountains. It was a helluva day.

I was looking through my email for something, and I somehow ended up looking at photos I had emailed myself in the past, back before I had a smart phone (shoutout to my Sony Ericsson!! Its name was Trevor!!) and couldn't just use the cloud or whatever. It was really wild looking through them all, most of them taken between 2012 and 2014, when I was in college in Tucson.
Tumblr media
Back then I used to wander around and take random photographs of things I liked the look of. So... not much different from nowadays. But one thing I loved in particular was taking panorama photos!
You take a pano on the Sony Ericsson by taking a photo, moving the camera, trying to align the edge of one with the edge of the next, taking another photo, moving the camera, and then auto-compositing the three together with a heavy blur. The effect is usually... fine... but sometimes it's really, really obvious how the photos were taken, and the seams are pretty unnatural.
Tumblr media
Some even get a spooky effect, depending on how your position changes, leading to a slightly-off look that doesn't immediately read as wrong, just weird.
And of course:
Tumblr media
You can just stitch three random photos together into a weird composite. This was something I remember loving to do, but the was the only example I could find.
Sometimes 2014 seems like last week, and sometimes it feels like 75 years ago, kinda like these photos. I don't really have a point, but I'm getting nostalgic, and I love random street photography.
(You could also take panos vertically, but it creates a real "do you love the color of the sky" situation, so it's under a readmore.)
Tumblr media
I don't know if I really miss living in Tucson, but some days... yeah...

I forgot it was the twins' birthday yesterday, oops. But they're a year old! It hasn't been a year since we took them in, but close lol.
I'm glad they're still here, especially since the vets said they had maybe a 50% chance of living past the first few weeks. Even if they did give my computer two BSoDs this week... They're doing well, they're eating us out of house and home, and I love them!
Also continuing the trend of "one is in focus and one is blurry":

I want to practice crochet so that maybe I can move beyond uhhh single stitch rows, so I made another little scarf out of the terrible rainbow yarn I've had forever, and then I made Carver wear it. My phone weirdly washes it out tho; it's fluorescent irl.
But Carver's so dashing~

I was testing fabric painting the other week and made some painted patches, but I didn't have anything to do with them once I was done. So I just ended up sewing them onto one of my old purses. It's an old yellow bag (a lot more yellow in real life for some reason) that previously had some handmade patches of a ghost from Off (you know, from when I beat off), and I just kinda layered these patches over those.
I don't love how this paint feels, and it feels like it'll flake off pretty quickly, but that's okay. I just like decorating stuff, and I had fun painting!

I didn't feel like taking photos in good light lmao. Also the babies wanted to help. Anyway, haul time~
Tumblr media
At goodwill, I kept putting things back, but I still ended up with a lot lmao. This is the bagged stuff: one bag with Hunter and Ashlynn, and the other with everything else.
Tumblr media
I kind of hate the way goodwill does bagged goods now. They used to have a 5/$0.99 or 10/$1.49 pick-your-own section, but they got rid of that around the start of covid. That does make sense, but I miss it! Before, you could just grab the things you want, but now whoever's in charge of this just shoves random (often broken) junk into various bags, and I don't like that. Because I'm only keeping half this bag lol.
Also because: this bag was ripped. Like, people open the bags and take what they want out and then leave the bags behind. This one was $3.49 and didn't originally have Optimus or Plusle in it, but it did have a big gaping hole where someone had pulled something else out and left the rest. Oh, well, I guess it happens and I shouldn't complain, blah blah.
So I mostly wanted this bag specifically because it was the half-off color and already ripped open, because I saw another ripped-open bag with a Plusle plushie in it and Optimus lying on the floor, so I did some bag balancing. The Plusle specifically was something I really wanted. This specific run of plushies (I think from Target? That's where we got them at least) are some of my and my sister's favorites. Not to be nostalgic on main, but the Ruby/Sapphire toys were so good. Have you seen the Mudkip and Zigzagoon figures that are like 1cm tall?? Unbelievably perfect.
Anyway, the Plusle. It's very, very pink, but it's just so cute. I'm only sad that there wasn't a Minun to go along with it, so it's lonely for now.
Tumblr media
Also the floor Optimus reminded me of another doll I have, which used to be a travel buddy, so they can hang out. I don't have an internal catalogue of Transformers, so I dunno which line he is, but. I mean, he's an Optimus.
There was also a really cute plushie valentine bear that I'll probably keep (and I did knock behind this cabinet immediately smh), a giraffe baby toy that I'm not going to keep, a kaleidoscope that appears to be broken and perhaps as old as the universe, and a little doggy in a bag that I'm also not keeping. And, lastly, two Groovy Girls mini bendy figures! I had forgotten these little gals even existed, but since I've been picking up the plushie Groovy Girls when I see them, I obviously wanted these. I love how turn-of-the-millennium they are, even though one of them has some paint errors on her face. Still cute, still going on my little doll shelf.
Next!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hunter and Ashlynn check! These are honestly pretty wild to find for $4.49. They're missing some little accessories (purses and a bracelet, I think, and the bottom of their stands), but they have everything else as far as I can tell. Unfortunately Ashlynn has moderately-bad glue head, which has melted her hair elastics, and a mark on her chin. She'll need a little tlc.
Tumblr media
Again, could I resist this unicorn bandana? Could you?
And again again, as steep as $3.49 is for AZ goodwills, I guess it's better than the $20 I can see it for on etsy, and I'm going to use this bandana a lot because it's perfect.
Tumblr media
Uh.
So before I found that ripped bag I ended up buying, I just found the Plusle. I originally was just going to put it in this bunny(?) purse and buy them together, so I carried it through the whole store, until I had basically just bonded with it.
It's... Um. It's in rough shape. But that means that I can make any changes I want without feeling bad! Especially since it's just a cheap bag to start with (probably why it's falling apart and at the thrift store). I need a new purse strap for it, so I'll start looking for that.
Tumblr media
The bag itself is pretty nice tho. Big enough to hold a phone or a small book, and all pretty neat, with a heavy zipper. It has potential.
Tumblr media
I grabbed this 3-pack of masks because they were $0.99. I still wear masks outside because there are many diseases (not just covid, but not excluding covid) and also so many gnats and so much dust along the canal. I washed them thoroughly, which I guess was the impetus I needed to do my other little things that can be washed on the stove. Of course the top one, the least my vibes, first really well, and the others don't as much. But I keep a couple masks in my various purses, and occasionally lose them in the laundry or somewhere, so honestly for a dollar I'm not complaining.
Tumblr media
The last three things I didn't get at the store. I passed a closed yard sale on my walk and saw a pile of stuff marked "Free", which is irresistible to me. I ended up grabbing two large, square framed pictures that I plan to repaint with... something (I was prepping four painting boards around the same time, so I'm not sure what I want that I'm not already painting). Usually I paint small, not larger than 7x10, and this is probably 12x12, so it's... lorge. But hey, free is free.
And lastly I grabbed this blue-with-white-lace dress. I'm not sure if it's handmade, because I can't see any tags, but I mostly grabbed it to use for fabric. I'll see how that goes; I washed it (obviously lol; it was a free thing sitting on the side of the road), and it's pretty sweet actually. Not my size tho lol.
And that's what I got! Probably too much stuff, but that's life. It's summer now, and my birthday soon, so I don't know how much I'll be going out, but we'll see. I like taking photos of stuff and not buying most of it, but... it's hot lmao.

I think this photo got auto-flagged? But as much as it's an absolute bitch move, I just wanted to complain.
Like, again, I don't wanna be the biggest cunt on earth or whatever, but like.... can you please, please, please just say excuse me? I was looking at the hats and scarves, dying over the unicorn bandana I found, and this lady just started... reaching in front of me and grabbing.
And like, I super don't mind moving! If you want to see something, and you say to me "excuse me" or "ope! 'scuse me" or "sorry, can I just grab this?" or literally anything else like that, I'll scoot my boot on outta there. Like, maybe it's a latent midwest thing, but... is it not just polite to say excuse me? Am I just too sensitive?* I dunno, it just really bothers me, and it's my blog.
*The answer to that is yes, obviously, but I'm also being rhetorical.
