answered here!
⏰ - Does your muse feel like they need to do things quickly or do they take their time?
In some ways, Aile feels obligated to do things in a timely manner. Not fast so much, but not slow, either. Timely. It depends more on the thing that needs done and how much time he has to do it. In other instances, he likes taking his time. He likes enjoying himself. For example, if he’s learning something, and it’s of particular interest to him, he’s probably going to take his time in learning it so that he can soak up the information like a sponge, committing every bit of it to memory. But if he’s doing something in a time crunch or he knows someone is waiting on him, he’s more likely to hurry up and get it done so they can do their job, too.
🔗 - What are your muse’s standards for meaningful relationships? How quickly do they form relationships like these?
That’s a very good question. And the answer is fish.
In truth, Aile doesn’t have set standards so much as he has....ideals, I suppose. Ideally, Aile looks for someone that’s truthful, someone that’s curious, someone that has a passion, someone that cares.. And this is for all relationships. He wants to surround himself with people are are open-minded, people that aren’t going to take a look at him and belittle him for his heritage or the people of the Mittatai and belittle them for where they came from and why they’re there. He can’t be friends with someone if they’re not checking at least a couple of those boxes.
He needs more people in his life that bring out the good in him, and those are his better traits. Even if that passion is from an android concerning their job, or from a fellow alien that is better with plants than people and knows every plant there it to know on the inhabited and hospitable planets of the Triangulum Galaxy. Even if that curiosity gets him and whoever else into trouble for venturing into a part of the ship they shouldn’t because they so desperately wanted to know what was behind Door #1, or they wanted to know whether the moons around Planet 293 were as big as Earth’s moon or the Oistea Spaceport. Even if it means a heart-to-heart with a human or android on how bad humanity had been in history, or how bad Earth had been when they left, or how aliens had been, until the subjective “recently” a foreign concept that had been treated as like a fairy tale... It doesn’t have to be good things. It’s just...ideals, the things he looks for, the things he sees in himself that he’d most easily be able to connect to in other people.
He looks for these in both friendships and in any sort of relationship that might run deeper than that. Mentorship, familial, platonic, romantic. You name it.

I just wanted to drop in real fast and I guess give an update?
My dad was diagnosed with cancer about a month ago, and after a two appointments over the last few weeks with non-invasive surgeries to figure out how to proceed, he had a surgery yesterday to take out the tumor they found. I spent all day babysitting my half sister and brother, both of whom were panicking, and my dad, who was recovering from the anesthesia. He’s recovering well, though I’m super anxious about leaving him in my brother’s and aunt’s care for the rest of the week, but I have to drive back to the city tonight so I can go back to work tomorrow. By the end of this week, the lab the tumor was sent to will know how far it progressed and what stage it is, and where they’ll go from here.
I’m here for the rest of the night (sans driving back to the city and grabbing food from...somewhere, which will happy probably in about 30 minutes). I’ve got 4 headcanon asks to finish and a starter to write.
If anyone else wants anything, definitely hit me up. o/

📊 - How does your muse feel about the state of the world? Could it be better? Could it be worse?
This question is a trap.
But in truth, really. Aile only has experience with Eunus and the Oistea Spaceport.
Spending much of his youth and more formative years on Eunus afforded him a look at the planet that he was later allowed to reflect upon while living in the Oistea Spaceport and then while traveling on the Mittatai. He feels like, from an unfortunately biased standpoint, that Eunus is a good place to live. The ocean is clean and clear, the air clean, the weather perfect -- neither too hot nor too cold. Aile spent his days growing up with hot beaches; cool water; and fresh, salty air. So it’s a good place for Nirvals, at least. Punai might have a more difficult time, especially those that can’t swim or dislike the water, but the islands atop the ocean do offer dry land for those that refuse to be wet. And the dry cities under the ocean provide more opportunities for work and for recreation. For Ciraku, however, it’s a more dangerous and less welcome place. The water is damaging to their wings, and just isn’t an entirely pleasant experience. Punai can get wet, and they’ll survive. Ciraku will survive, but it could really damage them. And then on Eunus, there’s the mindset of purity. It exists everywhere, but growing up with it on Eunus and then seeing life without it on Oistea really allowed Aile to understand it. On Eunus, if you choose to couple outside of your species, it’s frowned upon. The child will take after the mother, which isn’t a huge deal, but for those purists out there, the family will go through a great deal of dirty looks and lowkey bias and prejudice, and the child will experience outright bullying. Especially children that don’t conform. Not all people were like that, but enough were.
In short, Aile loved Eunus. He thought it was beautiful and perfect for the native inhabitants. But the people, he liked a lot less. Some were good. His mother’s family, many of his neighbors. But many were rude, cruel, or outright assholes. If he could, he would chance the people, make them more welcoming, more open, more accepting.
Oistea Spaceport is another story entirely. He lost his mother there from a sickness no doctor had a name for and, as such, didn’t how to fix, a sickness that came upon her there and stole her away there. The air was stale, the water had a metallic taste to it, and the lights were artificial. For the most part, the people were good though. There wasn’t any one species, the spaceport being a hub of activity and travel, a mix of Nirval, Punai, Ciraku, and other species. There was discrimination, but there was less. There’s the syndicate, but Aile never encountered them. He didn’t live in the lap of luxury, but he was happy there and the people were more welcoming that they were in Eunus.
Aile loved Oistea’s people. For the most part. But he didn’t like the actual location. Not one bit.

for the record, i am alive! and I am very very very tired laughs weakly
i pretty much spent 12 hours shipping everything (we had ~14000 lines today, which is fairly busy for a Friday in early October) on the outbound side of my job and then loading it on the truck. alone. because my coworker decided she wanted  to take today off. (along with like 8 other people. gotta love payday friday.)
i’m gonna try to get to a couple more of those asks people sent me (thank you!!), or post another little factoid thing, but i also might fall asleep because it’s 3am and  i’m a tired bean. i should definitely be more active this weekend though!!

⌛️👻🌺
⌛️ - How often does your muse think about death? Do they think about it at all?
Aile doesn’t think about death all too often. Five years ago, in the time after his mother died, he thought about death often – her death, in particular. How she’d died, why, whether it hurt. But save for the occasional memory of her or the thought of mom would love this! he doesn’t think about death all too often. And he rarely, if ever, entertains even a joking thought of his own death. He loves life, thank you very much.
👻 - Does your muse believe in an afterlife? What do they think it’s like?
Aile believes that it’s not an afterlife so much as it is a return to the planet. Or, as he lives in space now, to the flow of energy around him. Energy can’t just die or disappear. It has to go somewhere. He chooses to believe that it returns to the planet or the surrounding energy field, depending on where it is that a person dies. This idea of his is partially based upon the human belief of reincarnation, but is also partially something his mother was raised to believe in and instilled within him.
On Eunus, when someone in their town died, depending on their race, they were often returned to the planet rather than being buried in a clear cut, tidy visitation plot somewhere. Nirvals were buried at sea/returned to the water, Punai were often buried in the forests of the island or were buried near to the city, and many had trees planted at the grave site, their bodies returning to the flora of the island. The rare Ciraku that happened to be crazy enough to live on Eunus and happened to also die there was often burned, usually on the beach, so they could return to the air, the sun, and the moons. It’s one of the few traditions from Aile’s hometown that he wishes to uphold when he dies. He wants to be returned to the ocean.
He imagines it’s a lot like returning home, being lonely, and then not being lonely any more, because you’re where you’re supposed to be. And one day, maybe you’ll be born again. In the mean time, you’re part of the energy that keeps the circle of life moving onward.
🌺 - Does your muse have a favorite flower? Why do they like it?
Aile’s favorite flower is actually a species of flower he’s only ever found on Eunus. The closest “general” flower he can liken it to is the peonies found on Earth. The biggest and most important difference, however, is that these peonies grow underwater, and can only survive under the surface of water. They can be found in both lake and salt water, but the levels of salt and other minerals in the water is what helps to bring about their changes in colors. Salt water based peonies are usually more hearty and bright in color than their lake or spring counterparts.
His specific favorites are the white and a dusty blue variation.
These flower are his favorite because of their beauty, their smell – despite being underwater, their scent can easily fill a room through a process akin to diffusion, and when lifted out of the water for a moment, they can be individually smelled. But it’s also because his childhood home was near to a stretch of beach, and there was a patch of wild peonies that grew off shore that Aile would constantly take one or two from and bring up to his mother. At the time they left Eunus, she had quite the collection – a collection that she had to leave behind because she was told they wouldn’t survive the ship’s transportation time.

this is basically just me being lazy and refusing to make a legit plots page because it’s 2am and I don’t have the patience to code tonight. also, please keep in mind that I just jotted down the bare notes for most of these while on break at work, and I’m not going to sketch them out too much here so we can adjust it to fit and take things where we want to. ;w;
also, I NEVER SAID THESE WERE EXCELLENT PLOTS BUT I’LL TRY TO BE BETTER I’M SORRY.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, any species] On an evening or night when he’s awake and feeling more comfortable on the ship, Aile goes for a late night/midnight swim. Ideally, this is for someone who will becomes a close friend longterm, as Aile will be wearing his “item” and will have a tail in the water.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, any species] When insomnia strikes, Aile wanders, taking the time to explore the Fiann. He ends up on the 7th level in the viewing room, enraptured by the sight of the galaxy spread out before him. This could go a variety of way, including deep talks in the viewing area or bar/lounge, or a tour of the ship, or...idk. I tried.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, any species] I know it sounds crazy, but exercise partner. Aile enjoys exercise, particularly when he’s thinking about things and needs to work it out. Having a regular partner to run/bike/lift with would be good for him. This would obviously be a semi-established positive relationship, and there would probably be some lowkey competitiveness going on here.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, any species] Aile is a performer. He prefers to sing and tell stories, but he does know how to dance. And he likes dancing. Granted, he’s not particularly knowledgeable. He knows some ballroom style dances (he’s particularly good at the waltz and tango), but he’d like to learn more. He’d always like to learn more. Please, catch him. Teach him.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, Ciraku only] His father was a Ciraku, and while no two Ciraku are the same, it doesn’t really matter when this one Ciraku happens to rub him the wrong way. Unintentional or not, sparks fly. Possible reasons: Resembles father, makes a comment that his father’s said, +? This relationship will be rocky, at least at first.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, human only] Aile’s father was a storyteller, and before everything, he delighted in telling Aile of their human ancestors and of their time on the Earth. Curious, Aile seeks out a human to learn more about Earth.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, human only] Literally the same as above, but specific to pinniped knowledge, selkie lore, etc. The roots of his ancestors, basically, as opposed to general information about Earth.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, any species] “Touch my hat and I will cut you.” Touching Aile’s hat is a big no no. He’s obligated to bring it to the  Fiann with him. For safety reasons. But he can’t exactly leave it in the room he’s using. It’s not secure enough, and there’s no one he trusts enough to leave it with. But his hat is a very important hat. His hat is what makes him a pinniped. So he takes it with him. Everywhere. And someone makes the mistake of trying to touch it/look at it/move it. Questionable relationship, at east at first. Probably pretty negative until things are cleared up and trust is established.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, any species] This is basically just an enemies plot placeholder..thing. Someone makes a comment that upsets Aile. Or Aile upsets someone (which is easy to do, let’s be honest). and idk but I’ll think of something better to put here when I’m not exhausted.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, human/android only] Story time Possible story time about the spaceport. Up to use to decide. But please, give me a thread where Aile gets all excited and into the story and he lights up from the inside because Eunus was his home and he loved it there.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, any species] Homesickness strikes. Aile doesn’t deal with it in what others might consider a normal method. How he deals -- and how others deal with that -- is open for debate.
✩ [open, f/m/nb, aliens only] Literally give me friendships from before the Fiann. Aliens he knew back on Eunus. Others he encountered on the Osteia Spaceport. Others that he met on the Mittatai. Give me pre-established relationships. Give me someone that knew his mom and knows she’s dead, give me someone that knew his mom and doesn’t know she’s dead. Give me someone that Aile knew when he was eighteen and ran off to board the Mittatai. Give me someone that knew him back on Eunus and wasn’t thrilled that his parents weren’t a “pure” pairing, someone that hates that Aile’s mom was a Nirval and his dad is a Ciraku. Give me all the pre-existing relationships.

fact of the day:
Aile doesn’t sleep much. At all. If he were human, he might be diagnosed with a sleep disorder -- insomnia, most likely. But as a pinniped, it’s more common than most might think.
Although it’s rare for Aile to fall into any sort of deep sleep, no doubt due to his pinniped heritage and the manner in which seals often sleep, he is prone to taking short naps. These naps generally last anywhere from five to fifteen minutes, though he has been known to take up to thirty minute naps when he’s exceptionally tired and worn down. The longer naps also occur when he’s sick or he’s recovering from some sort of injury, both of which tend to be few and far between. It’s often the first sign that his health is deteriorating, for whatever reason.
More often than not, Aile prefers to sleep sitting or standing up. This means seated in a chair at his desk, or leaning against the headboard of his bed, or leaning against the wall, or even perched at a table in the mess hall of the Fiann.
He struggles with lying down to sleep, particularly in a bed, because it’s too big, too empty, and too cold. And, if he’d going to be completely honest with you, beds are often too hard. His mattress is never quite soft enough. He’d do better in a nest of blankets and pillows than he does on a bed. He does, however, sleep moderately well when lying down provided he has someone to cuddle up to. Their additional warmth tends to help settle him, though he does still prefer the idea of a blanket nest.
