FIRST OCOTPUS FACT OF THE DAY THAT I TOTALLY DIDNT FORGET TO POST EARLIER.
the smallest octopus known to humans so far is the wolfi octopus! you may also know it as the star sucker pygmy :) theyre usually 1 inch in length when fully grown, weigh a little over (or under, depending on the individual) over a gram, and they live for an average of a single year !

THIRD octopus fact of yesterday
while most octopuses, if not ALL octopuses, have a mild venom, the most venomous we're aware of so far is the blue ringed octopus! even though theyre miniscule, and small enough to comfortably sit in your hand, their venom packs enough punch to kill a grown human in 30 minutes, if you're really unfortunate!
funnily enough, the blue ringed octopus doesnt make this venom (called TTX, or 'Tetrodotoxin') themselves! they utilise a bacteria found in the ocean, and store it in the salivary glands, and use it by biting a hole in prey (or threats) then spitting it out into the wound.
this venom causes paralysis, nausea, trouble seeing, and, eventually, as your muscles lose function, difficulty breathing, swallowing, speaking, and eventually death. unfortunately for us, theres no antidote to the venom of the blue ringed octopus - which is incredibly dangerous, because a mere singular milligram is enough to kill you. oh well! thats what you get for messing with a wild animal.
however, despite how grim that all sounds, deaths from their bites are extremely rare! the octopus will rarely inject enough venom to kill - and it doesn't specifically target the brain or heart anyway, just causes general paralysis, so as long as you recieve medical attention soon and get assistance breathing, IF it even comes to that, you'll be right as rain in no time!

uhhh second octopus fact of yesterday (i forgor to post)
they got MAD chomps...a woman reportedly put a young giant pacific on her face for a photo, and it bit her, causing her to bleed for around 30 minutes, and she ended up in the hospital needing antibiotics although the swelling from the octopus' venom could have caused periodic swelling for months
that being said, most octopus venom is almost completely harmless to humans! the real threat is their very birdlike beak.
