When I came across the reference photo for this piece on Pinterest, the first thing I thought was ELRIEL. Some poses and moments just scream *them,* and this is definitely one of them: there’s just something about the thought of these two hidden away together, soaking in a cozy and quiet moment together.

I’m always a sucker for some Elriel having a sweet picnic out in nature together! I’ve wanted to work with @emsdrawsthings for a while on this idea, and she created such a beautiful piece for @elriel-month ! Whenever Elain said in SF that her favorite dance was the waltz, I couldn’t stop thinking about the idea of her and Azriel sharing one! I think it’s such a sweet idea, the closeness and intimacy to each other would be so romantic and swoon-worthy! Ever since I first read Azriel and Elain meeting for the first time and Elain asking if he could fly, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of him taking her for flights over the Night Court! When they’re up in the sky, there’s nothing holding them back and nobody telling either of them what to do. I am head over heels for this stunning piece by @nayasch who did such a beautiful job bringing my idea to life for @elriel-month , I’m absolutely obsessed!

Elriel Month // Free Will & True Love

“…and that love would trump even a mating bond.”

One of the most intriguing things about Elriel’s story to me is the possibility that they will have to fight fate to be together. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that SJM has planted the seed that Elain is looking for love that will trump even a mating bond, and I think she has found that with Azriel. So, for today’s prompt, I wanted to imagine a moment where Elain says, “I choose you, Azriel.” He simply stares up at her in awe, not daring to believe he’s been chosen by such a woman.

I honestly had no plans to do a fairy commission, but I came across Lumachaii‘s gorgeous piece of Queen Clarion and Lord Milori and absolutely fell in love with it! I immediately knew I wanted to work with her and have her bring to life the idea of Elain and Azriel as fairies in her own art style. I had no ideas of my own so left full creative freedom up to her, and I’m so glad I did because this turned out so so beautifully!

This moment is one of the most breathtakingly intimate scenes, full of tension, longing, and heartache, and I can't think of a better way to honor it.

Their connection is undeniable, and this scene has stayed with me ever since I read it and I always wanted to immortalize the magic of that fleeting moment.

Happy Valentine’s Day to the soon to be prettiest couple in Prythian! Besides being the most beautiful in their family, Elain and Az are alike in so many ways. Both characters stayed hopeful during dark times and have an appreciation for traditions. They’re both stealthy, well mannered, and good at secret keeping. They have similar powers (being the eyes and ears) and are often overlooked compared to their brothers and sisters. I could go on and on, but I’m so excited to see what story Sarah creates for these two! They deserve all of the love and happiness 🥹
