“I Love Killing Girls And Drawing Swans”
“Dead body is like soup. The colder the better,” - states Mikhail Novosyolov during the interrogation.
Have you ever had sex with a 5-year-old girl who died 5 hours ago? - Novosyolov asked a detective. As it usually happens, M. was charged with a misdemeanor, after he attempted to steal an air rifle in a shooting range. He was arrested and police started to prepare document when suddenly a phone rang. A police officer from another state was calling. “Novosyolov with you? Watch him! We’re coming!”
- What did you do? - the detective asked.
- Not much. I stole a couple of bags with flours from my neighbors.
An hour later, everyone knew that Novosyolov was wanted in other states on murder and rape charges. Later, the killer, himself, confessed to another 3 murders in Tajikistan and 16 in Russia. When police applied geographical profiling, it appeared that M. traveled from Tjikistan through Russia leaving dead bodies behind him. “I’m a traveler by nature,” - he announced.
“People are angry. Everyone is so rude. Just like animals. You can be killed for a ruble. Is it okay? Why did I kill? Not because I was angry. I wanted to have sex. What can I do if I can do it only with dead bodies?”
- You’re a necrophile, - they said.
- No! I’m a wild child, - he answers, and begins reading Omar Khayyam
His M.O was simple: blunt force trauma then strangling. The age of his victims was from 5 to 50. The only time he used a different method was when he stabbed two teenage girls. Before throwing the bodies in a river, he took a chewing gum from them that he bought. “I wanted to give it to someone else,” - he explained.
Most of all Novosyolov likes philosophy. He can talk about good and evil or hours. His favorite topics are Gorbachev and restructuring, the last amnesty and the behavior of police officers.
Now, he is in prison. He asked permission to draw something beautiful and bright on the walls of his cell. ‘Swans, children…”
But they said no.

The Psychology of Green River Serial Killer Gary Ridgway who was responsible for the murder of at least 71 women.
Gary Leon Ridgway was fixated upon prostitutes. A neighbour of Ridgway during the time he spent living in Kent, Washington stated he would visit the houses of neighbours just to inform them that: “prostitutes are having sex in cars on the street and throwing condoms out the windows”. He was a fervently religious man, profiled as having a mistrust of women and being described as “fixated” upon the issue of prostitution.
Ridgway had few friends and was profiled as having “low self esteem” but was nonetheless capable of socialising. Sometimes, Ridgway’s socialising would involve preaching to those around him using a bible he carried on his person.
The profile established by the FBI task force set up to catch the Green River serial killer stated that the Green River killer despised women. Profilers suspected that Ridgway felt he had been ‘burned’ and betrayed by women too many times and viewed them as whores. The profile stated the killer felt women would prostitute themselves for any or no reason at all - and when he saw women doing this, it drove him into a searing rage.
Ridgway’s perception of women as argued by the profile correlates with the experiences of his ex-wives. Both of Ridgway’s ex-wives stated he spoke of them (and women) in a degrading manner and frequently accused them of working as prostitute behind his back.
Ridgway had also shown a prior interest in law enforcement, desiring to be a police officer as a child and applying to become a police officer at a later date (but failing to succeed). The FBI profile also stated Ridgway was an individual full of rage who craved the power he held over his victims.
According to Ridgway’s ex-wives he was not a smoker, nor a drug user. He did however drink alcohol occasionally. He was also described as an outdoorsman, spending much of his time in the mountains of the area.
By the time Ridgway was apprehended in November, 2001 the true count of the Green River serial killer’s murders was above the toll of even Ted Bundy (who actually gave some advice to the task force on catching the killer). Ridgway was convicted of 49 murders, but confessed to 71 and the true count is estimated to be even above 90.

40 Letters From Serial Killers
Australian true crime author and serial killer expert Amanda Howard has spent years writing to hundreds of serial killers.
She came up with this idea after a series of murders of elderly women in 1989-1990. A pie salesman John Wayne Glover was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. However, Glover committed suicide in 2005. “It just showed how normal these people are, it was quite shocking. I was hooked,” Amanda told news.au.com.
In total, Howard has written 18 books and has spoken with 55 serial killers. Most of them were American, Australian or British. According to Amanda, she receives approximately 40 letter per week. “Some of them are grossly pornographic. Some of them start that way and talk about erections and stuff like that. Sometimes they want to play a game but if I say ‘no, don’t, I’m not interested in that’, I do get an apology.”
However, not all serial killers are so nice. “Richard Ramirez, he just kept coming at me, with all of this ‘I want to do this to you, I want to do that to you’, and that continued until I changed post office boxes. I’ve had ‘Toolbox Killer’ Roy Norris threaten to put an ice pick into my ear, which is what he and his partner had done to his victims.”

The May 27th, 1991 phone call a concerned passerby made in reference to Konerak Sinthasomphone. The fourteen year old had been kidnapped, drugged, stripped, raped and had a hole drilled into his head by serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. While Dahmer was out buying alcohol, Sinthasomphone escaped onto the street dazed and bleeding from his rectum.
Shockingly, the police officers who picked him up, John Balcerzak and Joseph Gabrish, believed the boy to just be drunk and happily returned him to Dahmer’s apartment who claimed they were in a relationship. The officers even noted a foul odour to the air which was in fact the decomposing remains of Dahmer’s previous victim, Tony Hughes. Sinthasomphone was shortly thereafter murdered by Dahmer who kept his skull as a trophy.

Inspired By Evil
Jason Massey idolized Ted Bundy and worshipped Richard Ramirez. He wanted to achieve the “greatest slaughter and carnage wrought upon the earth by one man,” by killing at least 700 people. He detailed all of his repulsive dreams into a diary he titled, “Slayer’s Book of Death.” The people who knew Jason were all disconcerted by his disturbing behavior. He kept rotting animal heads in his freezer, talked constantly about murder, and his hero Charles Manson. He would even call his seventh-grade teacher, telling her of his fantasy to murder her. He would later smear the blood of a classmate’s dog on her car. In late spring of 1993, Massey was pulled over by police. When they searched his car they found a Persian cat with a rope around its neck, a three prong knife, and a list of names with check marks next to them.
In July of 1993, when Jason was twenty years old, he moved from animals to humans, killing 14-year-old James King and 13-year-old Christina Benjamin. He shot them, decapitated them, severed their hands and feet, and mutilated their torsos. Massey was apprehended when the bullets taken from James’ skull during his autopsy were traced to Massey’s cousin’s gun, which he stole. Several people from the small Texas town where he lived, saw Jason with the same gun prior to the murders. He was sentenced to death and was executed by lethal injection in 2001.
“I’d like to grab society by the throat and shake ‘em with terror until they’re awake and realize what’s up so they will remember who I am, when, and why I came their way.“

Tammy Homolka was Karla Homolka’s 15-year-old sister. Paul Bernardo, who was only dating Karla at the time, grew exceedingly close to Paul and Tammy looked up to him as her own big brother. However, Paul had a dark covert desire for Tammy specifically because she was a virgin, and Karla was not. Paul was upset that he wasn’t her first sexual partner and thought it was up to Karla to make it up to him. On Christmas Eve of 1990, Karla decided to hand over her little sister’s virginity to Paul as a Christmas gift. She did this by drugging Tammy’s alcoholic drink. As Tammy was unconscious, Karla placed a Halothane cloth over her nose and mouth and the pair videotaped themselves raping her. Once Tammy choked on her vomit, they panicked and quickly cleaned up the area, hiding the evidence, before dialing 911. Tammy was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead. No flaws were ever spotted in the couple’s version of events and it was then concluded that Tammy’s death was accidental.
Just three weeks after Tammy’s death, Karla and Paul filmed a video they named ‘’The Fireside Chat’’ which featured Karla dressing up and acting like her sister and having sex with Paul on Tammy’s bed. In the video, Karla also admitted to Paul that she took pleasure in watching him rape her sister, and that she wanted him to leave a rose on her grave site because it had touched his genitals.

I never saw this photo before! Ted Bundy reading the Bible while meeting with Bill Hagmaier on January 22, 1989. Hagmaier spent 4 days straight with Bundy, arriving on Friday, January 20, 1989.
“You’re like a fisherman who fishes for years and catches a small fish… sometimes a medium fish. You get lucky and get a big fish. But you know there’s a real big fish under there that always gets away. You and your group are going to get a lot of serial killers and they’re going to help you. But with the real good ones, the only way you’re going to know what goes on under the water is to go under the water. The fisherman drowns going underwater. But I can take you there without drowning. If I trust you. And if I decide.” - Ted Bundy to Bill Hagmaier during one of their first meetings in 1986.
The photo was shared by Asia Argento.

‘’I went after my victims by walking among the markets searching for a girl with a certain look on her face—a look of innocence and beauty. She would be a good girl, working with her mother. I followed them sometimes for two or three days, waiting for when she was left alone. I would give her a trinket like a hand mirror, then take her to the edge of town where I would promise a trinket for her mother. I would take her to a secret hideaway where prepared graves waited. Sometimes there were bodies of earlier victims there. I cuddled them and then raped them at sunrise.’’
–Pedro López, who killed over 300 little girls

Bernard Camerman crying during the reconstruction of the murder of his youngest daughter, Alexia (3)
In June 1993, Bernard Camerman strangled his wife, Cathérine Lemineur (36) and his three daughters, Sandrine (8), Laurence (6) and Alexia (3), in their home in Lint, Belgium. Bernard became extremly angry during a fight about the upbringing of the children, mainly about the dyspraxia problems of one of his daughters. He grabbed Cathérine’s throat and strangled her with the belt of his bathrobe. He then thought that it would be better to kill their children too, because he thought the three girls could never live with the thought of their father being a murderer. So, he kissed his daughters, while they were still sleeping, for the last time, and strangled them one by one. He then placed the four bodies in his car and dumped them along the highway. The next day, Bernard went to work like nothing had happened, but his family in law quickly noticed that Cathérine and her daughters had disappeared. Bernard then decided to go to the police to report them as missing, he told police that he suspected his wife to be a part of a cult and that she had run away with their children. But after 20 days, Cathérine’s body was found along the highway, which led to Bernard confessing to murdering his wife and three daughters. The bodies of the three girls were found along the highway as well.
Bernard Camerman was sentenced to ‘life in prison’ (30 years in Belgium), but got released in 2004 after only serving 11 years.

The crawlspace in serial killer John Wayne Gacy’s home, where he admitted to having concealed the dead bodies of his victims. Police were able to recover a total of 29 bodies, all young males, some of which still had underwear stuffed in their throats. Gacy told police that on several occasions, he had killed more than once on the same day, and the reason he buried the bodies so closely together was because he was running out of room in the crawlspace.

Israel Keyes was a serial killer who operated in Alaska, New Vermont, Washington, and New York, starting in the late 90s. Israel went to great lengths to avoid getting caught, his murders planned meticulously and long ahead of time. Unlike most serial killers, Israel did not have a victim profile. He committed his murders far from home and never killed in the same place twice. Additionally, he kept his cell phone off and paid for his items in cash. Israel also kept a ‘’murder kit’’ with him, which included a handgun and other tools. He was arrested in 2012 for the abduction, rape, and murder of an 18-year-old girl. In jail, he confessed to many more murders, and it is believed he is linked to as many as 11 deaths, some possibly out of the country. It was discovered that Israel was a big fan of Ted Bundy.
Israel committed suicide in his jail cell only a few months before his trial.

On June 5th 1980, a man named Zingmund Adamski disappeared while running errands. It wasn’t until five days later, that his dead body was found 20 miles away in a pile of coal. The man’s watch and wallet were missing, but his clothes had no damage to them. He was discovered at 3:00 pm, but he was suspected to have died anywhere between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. This is odd because the workers at the coal plant did not see him when the area was last used at 11:00 am. The autopsy revealed that Adamski died of a heart attack, and had burns on his neck, and an unidentifiable ointment had been applied to the burns. What is odd about this case is that Adamski had stubble that looked like he hasn’t shaved in a day. The man was missing for five days, and yet didn’t show signs of having a unkempt beard consistent with that amount of time. Many speculate that he was taken by aliens, and tortured. It is believed that when he died the aliens left him at a random location.

Freeman High School shooting
On the 13th of September 2017, Caleb Sharpe (15) entered Freeman High School in Spokane, Washington with a rifle and a handgun in a duffel bag, and began shooting. He killed Sam Strahan, and injured three other girl students. The student that got killed tried to confront Caleb and was heard yelling: ‘‘You don’t want to do this!’’, but he sadly got shot in the head while doing so. A staff member then managed to step in and put an end to the rampage. The three other girls that got shot survived and are in stable condition.
A friend of Caleb said that he passed out notes, which said he was going to do ‘‘something stupid that could get him killed.’’ He also explained how Caleb had changed over the last few months, because he suddenly started being ‘obsessed’ with school shootings. Caleb also had a YouTube channel called ‘Mongo Walker’ where he played with fake guns and would film having mock shootouts with his friends.
Caleb Sharpe was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.

The murder of Nicole van den Hurk
On the 6th of October 1995, around 5:00am, 15-year old Nicole van den Hurk left her grandmother’s house to cycle to the bakery in Woensel, the Netherlands, where she worked; but she never arrived. That same day, her bicycle was found at around 6:00pm, in the river Dommel. Police searched the area, but with no result. Thirteen days go by, and her backpack was found near the canal of Eindhoven, the area was searched, but again with no result. Finally, on the 22nd of November 1995, Nicole’s body was found in the woods. The autopsy revealed she had been beaten and that she most likely died from a stab wound which caused internal bleeding, but the exact cause of death was never determined. It also revealed that she had been raped, but that fact wasn’t released to the public until 2014. Nobody knew who had killed Nicole and the tips police received weren’t useful, so the case went cold. Until her brother, who had moved to England, suddenly confessed to the murder on Facebook in 2011 and got arrested by the British police. He was extradicted to the Netherlands, but got released after five days because there was no evidence against him. In 2016, her brother said that he had falsely confessed to the murder in order to revive attention to the case and to get her body exhumed for DNA testing. He got what he wanted, because they exhumed Nicole’s body in 2014 and found foreign DNA. In January of 2014, police arrested 46-year-old Jos de G. who’s DNA matched the samples found on Nicole’s body and at the crime scene.
Jos de G. got charged with rape and was sentenced to five years in November of 2016, he was acquitted of manslaughter because he was found to be legally insane at the time of the murder.

In June of 1988, Parealyn Carr received an anonymous letter urging him and his family to leave Florida in the next two weeks or else they will die. Four months after the arrival of the letter, Parealyn’s wife Peggy Carr got tremendously sick. She had been unable to walk and speak properly and had to write down messages in order to communicate. Her family eventually brought her to the hospital. Peggy was released after doctors told her that they had problems with finding the cause of her pain. Her condition rapidly worsened in the following hours and on the next day, she was brought back to the hospital. Doctors who examined her now suspected a thallium poisoning based on a variety of symptoms displayed by Peggy, including hair loss, one of the main symptoms of thallium poisoning. Her stepson Travis Carr and son Duane Dubberly soon exhibited symptoms similar to Peggy’s. A special test eventually confirmed their suspicions. Other family members, including Peggy’s husband, also had traces of thallium in their systems. After losing all her hair, Peggy slipped into a coma. On March 3, 1989, she was removed from life support and died.
When authorities searched the home of the Carr’s to find the source of the thallium, they recovered an 8-pack of Coca-Cola. Officials determined that the bottles contained traces of thallium and that the bottles had been deliberately opened. They suspected Parealyn Carr to be involved in the poisonings, but evidence suggested otherwise. After police questioned neighbors of the Carrs, George Trepal became their prime suspect. Trepal studied chemistry for two years and was a member of Mensa, along with his wife Diana Carr. They frequently hosted murder mystery weekends, where members of Mensa talked about committing the perfect crime and staged murders. Trepal had been arrested in 1975 for his part as chemist in a methamphetamine lab. When police asked him what would drive someone to poison his neighbors, Trepal answered that the poisoner wanted them to leave. The couple frequently argued with the Carrs, often about trivialities. Special agent Susan Goreck eventually went undercover to attend the murder mystery weekends. Goreck befriended Trepal quickly, but he never confessed to poisoning the Carr’s. In December of 1989, after the couple had moved to Sebring, Florida, Trepal rented his house to Goreck to “escape an abusive husband.” Police searched the house on the same day he handed her the keys. In the garage they found a brown bottle containing thallium nitrate. Trepal was arrested at his Sebring home in April of 1990. He was sentenced to death for the murder of Peggy Carr on March 6, 1991. Despite all the evidence against him, Trepal still maintains his innocence.
