Thinking about how Korra in s4e2 (Korra Alone) she has a black eye on her left eye. The same side as Zuko’s scar. And this reminded me of what Weight of Cinema says about the symbolism of Zuko’s scar. In his analysis video (https://youtu.be/a4Bgv_ChCd0), he tells how Zuko’s scar is telling of his character. Zuko is blind to many things, (his nation’s wrongdoings, the abuse of his father, …) and this is shown visually by his eye being damaged.

Korra is blind to her needs. What she needs is the help of others. All Korra wants is to heal, but she is unwilling to accept help from others to get there. She wants to prove herself worthy of being the avatar, to be self sufficient, but cannot get there on her own. In trying to prove herself, without taking the advice of others, she goes down the path of self destruction by throwing herself into situations she isn’t ready for. That’s when she gets her black eye, and finally follows the spirit (disguised as a dog) into the swamp and meets Toph.

Let me know what your thoughts are! This is my first try writing out what I think, and I know this is kinda rough!
