i think quite literally the only piece of solid evidence for the standard normie take that the beakers adopted nervous is that circe and loki remember him 'moving in' as a child, and at such an age those memories may indeed imply that the whole moving in situation involved some manner of adoption but they just don't recognise each other as family because they don't like each other. however nervous—as in the actual playable nervous—was created MUCH more recently than either of his housemates which in all likelihood means his memories are more reflective of the devs final intentions, and thus i'm more willing to hear out his take on things. he remembers moving in as a teenager, which lines up far better with ts2psp's explicit confirmation (if we're taking emily's word on it which one would assume the writers wanted us to) that he actually moved in willingly and signed a contract and shit. like i could believe a 16 yr old little freak living on the streets or in a failing foster system or whatever being willing and somewhat able to sign such a contact far more than i could believe a 10 yr old mohawked dickensian street urchin doing so, not even taking into account how the latter scenario would line up with circe and loki's ages, or rather, wouldn't. personally my take on nervous subject is that he's just a vulnerable young man who's down on his luck and frankly too unwell to live on his own or look after himself or work a traditional job or anything like that so living in some freaky couple's basement seems like a sweet deal to him, even if it sucks and ultimately leads to his death. feels good to not be explicitly contradicted by the text!

i take nerv's name apparently being 'nervous beaker' at some point in development as to mean that this was at a point before the devs started giving different surnames to people from the same household, which just makes the singles even more funny/ridiculous

it turns out that apparently if you make a married romance sim in CAS then they'll have the positive marriage and engagement memories. it's very possible that i'm the only guy who didn't already know this seeing as i play with premades exclusively but let me tell you i am having the time of my LIFE right now

oh yeah i played ts2psp last night specifically with the intent of wrangling all the circe dialogue that i could out of it and i only saw one thing that was actually new to me. if you select the first option on that dialogue prompt (aka the option i'm not hovering over. this is not the most effective series of still images in terms of conveying what i'm actually doing but you get it) she says this. not revolutionarily fascinating or anything but still ! fucka my life !

i did record every base game premade's predetermined hobbies in a spreadsheet a loooong time ago but idk if i should post it i feel like it's kinda nothing. also funnily enough i fucking forgot romeo existed and just didn't add him in after all this time even though it would take about 5 seconds sorry king

xanthos is the entire reason why i'm scared about relying on the fandom wiki as a resource for aspirations (other than the fact that the wiki is, quite frankly, godawful in general) as he was falsely listed as romance for ages when he is in fact fortune. that being said, i have been reviewing every premade ancestor's aspiration manually in simPE all day and i haven't noticed the wiki get anything wrong. maybe someone else reviewed all this stuff a while back although i honestly assumed that the xanthos error getting fixed was to do with that one person who's been fixing up the loki and circe pages as of late. thanks for your service BTW

you wanna know something insane. there are 206 playable sims in all of ts2, including all 6 main hoods, 5 subhoods and 5 stealthhoods. in the base game alone, which includes only 3 neighborhoods, there are a total of 200 deceased sims, the vast majority being completely inaccessible and serving absolutely no purpose other than being a name on someone's family tree

forever mad that of all the ancestral sims that could've been affected by facial corruption, xanthos and grainne were. literally the two of the ones i care about most due to their circe proximity. we can assume that grainne used face template 17 as that's what her daughter used in development and what her father gwrtheyrn uses but as for xanthos i have no fucking clue. let me see circe's deadbeat dad in all his glory.....

while i don't think they're typically as interesting as those from strangetown and veronaville, something uniquely fun about pleasantview ancestors is that they'll occasionally have incidental siblings. frida goth has absolutely no reason to exist but she does and that's great. that's really cool

i've been considering doing a spreadsheet for all the base game premade ancestor aspirations for a bit now. it'd be kinda pointless to even do stats or try to derive meaning from it since i assume that most of them were assigned randomly but it would be fun. i like those dead cunts
