2020 Refresh

The blog has been neglected as I mostly post on instagram. I’ve done a recent photoshoot and refreshed a few pictures.

There are a couple of new projects also on burner: Lakelse and Devil Woman. I’m super excited to be playing some new music!

2018 dates and recording

I added the dates for Black Angus in 2018. More still to come, but there's the confirmed stuff right now.

New recordings with Bučan Bučan later this month as we create our latest album at The Woodshop recording studio. This should be a challenging and fun project, as we're hoping to record mostly live off the floor.

In other news, I'm hoping to have new photos in the next few months, which will feature my beautiful 1960 Ludwig Super Classic kit and a bunch of new Dream Cymbals I've recieved this past year. Hopefully that will include my 10th Anniversary 24" ride, which I hope to meet in person within the next couple of weeks.

Long time.... no post.

Not for any reason other than the fact that it’s been a crazy busy year for me and the bands I play in.

Dirty Mountain has been touring all around the West Coast, playing a ton of festivals and working our butts off. We played The SunFest Country Festival this summer, which was amazing and fun! Now, we’re regrouping and planning for 2017. We’ll be filming some videos very soon and working on new songs and a new album. Speaking of albums, Black Angus is going into the studio very shortly to record our first full-band, full-length album with the amazing and talented Joby Baker! It’s going to be so nice to finally get the band’s music available for our fans. We’ve got a new website up as well, and will soon be posting some footage from our 2016 Butchart Gardens show, which featured the violin talents of Daniel Lapp.

Bučan Bučan also has a new site up and has been playing shows all summer. We're also hoping to record a new album in 2017.

As for me, I’ve picked up a lovely set of Ludwigs from 1960 that look and sound amazing. You can check them out on my Instagram. I’m planning to have a proper photo shoot soon, to add to the gear gallery here. Also, Dream Cymbals has been kind enough to furnish me with some new sounds. I’ve been playing around with some new crashes, mostly using the Bliss line. I’m hoping to try out a new ride cymbal or two in the coming months, as well. Though, I can’t say enough good things about my 20″ Dark Matter Energy ride. If you’re a drummer, I recommend you check out Dream Cymbals!

So many exciting things on the go! Last week I had the pleasure of playing The Butchart Gardens with BlackAngus. It’s always a great time, with a great stage and crew. You can check out our performance at www.blackangusmusic.com .

This coming weekend you’ll find me with  Bučan Bučan at The Great Canadian Beer Festival, September 11th and 12th. We’ll also be joining our friends, Igor and Red Elvises on stage at Lucky Bar on September 15th.

The next weekend, you’ll find me at The Irish Times with BlackAngus for Friday and Saturday night. And on the following weekend, I’ll be playing with the smooth-operating Aidan Miller at the Bard and Banker, again on Friday and Saturday night.

October will have me on the road with the lovely and talented Steph MacPherson, for her West coast tour in support of her upcoming CD. Plus, I’ll be doing some more shows with my new band, Dirty Mountain, later that month.

It’s nice to be busy!

So, I participated in a music video on Saturday for Country artist Jay Sparrow. Not surprisingly, I played the part of "drummer". :) This week: Thursday night at Logan's Pub with the Amy Winehouse Tribute! It's gonna be a sold-out show, I can feel it!  Friday night, you'll find me at Butchart Gardens with Black Angus, and the following weekend I'll be at Beerfest Friday and Saturday with Bučan Bučan!

Some exciting gigs have been added to my schedule.  Of note, tomorrow evening I get the opportunity to play with an extremely talented musician by the name of Aidan Miller. If you haven't checked him out, please do yourself a favour and head over to his site www.aidanmillermusic.com I've also been asked to be a part of an Amy Winehouse tribute at the end of August. We're currently learning the album Back to Black, and I couldn't be happier about the music and the people I'm playing with. This is a gonna be a fun one!
