Let Your Honesty Shine

Dallas-based artist Mione Plant creates meaningful, thoughtful and joyful works of art... The messages that often accompany each piece are equally as powerful. Mione’s musings on her latest work, Let Your Honesty Shine, really resonated with us - especially during this crazy, complicated time. Read on for her wise words!

“It’s words of strength that are lauded, the pursuit to grow strong, to weather storms and emerge stronger, mightier, hardened. What if we also gave weight to what we don’t proudly reveal, the lighter, often considered weaker parts of ourselves?

The word - the definition of my name, Mione - beckoning you to judge it, to assign it a connotation, a worthiness or lack thereof; to quickly determine if its a word of strength or weakness. To ponder, why a seemingly light word was given prominence, pride of place? Perhaps the anti-affirmation - a reminder of this delicate balance, our own delicate nature, our mind strong but human, fragile but taught to be something quite opposite. Survival of the fittest, the strongest - or perhaps instead, those in tune, listening, absorbing, considering, observant of details, of the smalls - so that action can be thoughtfully considered.

The bubbles, their flight, always changing. Each day a delicate bubble, on the verge of popping. The weight of this situation, this time, these global challenges, contrasted with the weightless ease of childhood games and play.

No rhyme or rhythm or reason to the dance - the configuration of bubbles - a single moment captured in their flight, perhaps moments before some pop. Even the notion of their pop creating a sensation of something released, transformed, let go of.

We say ‘don’t burst my bubble.’ But perhaps I should burst my own. The ones I’ve been carrying that are now just clouding my sky. The ones that in a new world, no longer fit. To leave it be.

The acknowledgement of our well being, our health - as delicate. That once acknowledged, brought to light, can be given strength. To admit that today I am not OK, I am not coping, I do not see the light. To, for a moment, abandon strength, or our desire to manifest it in its absence - to bring to light our delicate thoughts and fears, and in doing so, transform them to something of power and weight. To let our honesty shine.”

Bleu Ciel Sky-Rise Living

Several weeks ago we had the distinct pleasure of touring the new, sleek tower dotting the Dallas skyline. Bleu Ciel, aptly named for its dazzling presence, is the latest condominium tower from esteemed developer Harwood International. Once our car had been parked by a member of the valet team, Harwood Living Sales Director, Allison Hayden, met us with a welcoming smile in the truly impressive lobby. Passionate about the project and extremely knowledgeable, Allison was the perfect person to lead us through a fun and informative tour. She kicked off the hour by explaining that renowned Paris-based architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte and Harwood’s CEO and Founder, Gabriel Barbier-Mueller, drew inspiration from Barbier-Mueller’s collection of samurai objects, one of the largest and most complete in the world. Two samurai warriors decked out in full battle regalia greet residents as they enter the building.

Our time spent at Bleu Ciel exceeded all expectations. The 33-story tower is simply STUNNING. The Condé Nast inspired spa, fully outfitted gym, 24/7 concierge service and dog park are just a few examples from the long list of luxe amenities. Our personal favorite? A tie between the ridiculously gorgeous resort-style pools and the 10,000 bottle wine cellar and tasting room (with a hidden speakeasy-style door to boot). We can’t fail to mention the location! Nestled in the heart of the Harwood District, residents have more than 100 restaurants, entertainment venues and museums within walking distance. If you don’t feel like walking, the adorable Bleu Ciel shuttle can take you wherever you need to go within the District. 

The spa features both sauna and steam rooms, beautiful plunge pool and a massage room. 

The fully outfitted gym boasts breathtaking views of the pool and Dallas skyline, as well as a private studio for yoga, Pilates or personal training. 

The 10,000 bottle wine cellar, which is also available for private events. 

Private garages tucked away underneath the building offer additional storage and a prime space to keep your cars. On-site car washing is also available.

Two junior Olympic sized pools bring outdoor living to each doorstep. The beach-entry lounge pool is punctuated by hammock-draped palm trees, cabanas, a hot tub and an adjacent poolside bar with delivery services, kitchen and grilling stations.

Allison led us through four breathtaking model residences, each one outfitted by a different Dallas interior designer. Starting with the 1,000+ square foot Sky Home all the way up to the 7,500 square foot Premiere Penthouse, each residence features high-end finishes, Miele appliances, Procelanosa cabinetry and open floor plans. The floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive terraces offer unmatched views of downtown Dallas. No matter the floor number - whether Floor #3 or #33 - stunning vistas and an airy atmosphere make each residence perfect for lounging, working from home, or hosting friends for dinner.

Last week I spent a lovely afternoon at Vivian’s Boutique Spa. Owner Kristin Barton set out to create a positive environment and personal, welcoming experience for her customers – she absolutely succeeded. Her attention to detail shines through the custom, craftsman-made furniture and the beautiful vintage-inspired decor. We can’t forget to mention the heavenly smell, which is in large part due to the “Whoopie Pie” scented Farmhouse Fresh candles Kristin keeps lit throughout the spa.  

Arrive a bit early to enjoy sipping tea in your plush robe while relaxing in the calming luxury lounge. Vivian’s has a set menu of traditional services – such as the Healthy Gel Mani/Pedi, Swedish Massage and Signature Facial - but also a seasonal rotating menu of specialized or themed services. CBD has been such a buzz word lately, so I figured I would give their Soothing CBD Oil Muscle Relief Massage and Softening CBD Oil Warm Stone Mani a try!

CBD, or cannabidiol, reduces redness and breakouts, contains skin repairing fatty acids and helps lessen signs of aging. It also works with the body’s natural systems to provide stress relief. As I prefer firm pressure to help loosen overworked muscles, I tend to wake up the day after a massage with some soreness in my back and shoulders. Due to the benefits of the CBD oil, truly none of the typical soreness was present the following day! The oil was also a definite added bonus to my manicure – My hands felt relaxed and extra moisturized.
