Live in Mexico City, 2001
For years I’ve seen short videos of The Sins of Thy Beloved’s performance in Mexico City, in 2001. It seems, though, the full video was actually posted on YouTube some years ago! The link is below, and remember to download anything you like, because YouTube videos quickly disappear. The Sins of Thy Beloved Live in Mexico City, 2001: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R9s1kSzcr4 Well, this was is 2001, so we know the singer at the time was Hege-Marie Aanby. At first I was thrown off by how she’s out of tune most of the time. But after listening to Pandemonium, I can clearly see she has a very distinct singing style and could be a great singer if she had kept on it. I really enjoyed watching the full concert, and wish it were recorded professionally.
Another great thing about this live is how Pete *brilliantly* improvises most of his lines. It was pure joy to listen to his violins again with this band. (By the way, Pete released a song with Art of Departure. I’m waiting for them to release the full album to post here) All in all, it was great to revisit TSotB again, and be able to watch the full live. I don’t know how I didn’t see this video before, but I’m glad it’s online now.

Couple of remasters and new bands
Hello guys.
Something exciting happened, it seems some people are trying to fan-remaster the Perpetual Desolation Live.
First of them,  is an audio-remaster of the whole concert. To me it sounds a little better, but I have no audio equipment to judge it actually. Here it is:
>> Perpetual Desolation Live (Remastered Audio)
Second, now this one got me very excited! It is a video remaster with AI technology of one of the songs, and it is really good!! I’m trying to find the person who did it to see if he has the whole concert. It would be incredible. This is the best quality the Perpetual Desolation Live ever has. Much better than the DVD and obviously than the VHS! Check it out:
>> TSoTB - Partial Insanity (Remastered with AI)
Now, for other news, about Arild and Stig, after leaving Savn, now they each have a gothic metal band in the making.  Stig Johansen, with singer Susanne Dahle have created Morke, as I already said on my last post. They’re making their first album and the last update was 3 months ago with a video of a song that actually sounds very cool! I loved to see him growling, remember, he was the drummer in TSoTB!
>> Morke - Hel
As for Arild, he joined with singer  Nelly Khosrovyan to create the band RAINAREA, and they just made their first video, it sounds good, I really like the electric piano sound.
>> RAINAREA - Climbing the Mountains
Now, Pete Johansen has always been the most prolific of them, and I have already posted news about him here during the last years. Along with his solo albums, the bands he has worked with are too many, so please just check his page on Metal Archives. What I want to talk here is first about Art of Departure, the solo project of Tristania’s drummer Tarald Lie Jr. along with Pete(!) as you can see on this instagram post. They haven’t posted any songs yet, but to me this sounds very promising! Another news, according to this website (in portuguese), the Brazilian band ILUMINATO has announced that their next album (which will be their second) will have Pete violins, in the entire album! Now, as their official website is down, as it appears to be their facebook, there’s no way to tell if this will go forward, but it would be really cool to have a new gotic metal album with Pete in all songs. Here’s one live song from ILUMINATO’s first album. Sounds good!
>> ILUMINATO - Betrayed Soul
PS Remember to download everything you wish to keep from youtube, as it tends to be taken down.

Hey! I didn’t know about this! I found it by accident! It says:
“Former member of "The Sins of Thy Beloved" Stig Johansen has started a gothic metal band called "Mørke" with his wife Susanne Dahle Johansen. Focusing mainly on the classic old school and 90s gothic metal style.”
Gotta give it a listen!

Anita Auglend still rocks
Tumblr media
This is Anita Auglend (ex-singer of TSoTB) today. After the band ended in 2002 she married, had a kid and went on to live a happy family life, but never again sang, at least professionally.
BUT, she actually made a guest appearance singing in one song from a norwegian hard rock band, and as it turns out, her voice continues to be astounding. In other words, she keeps being that dark angel.
It’s really just a small part in the chorus. But it really gave me the chills to listen to that sweet voice again. And also made me think, is she thinking of going back to music?! A very exciting thought.
So, for your listening pleasure, here’s the link for Spotify (it’s not on YouTube and I’m not going to put it there): https://play.spotify.com/track/05a47w6ZG25aUc3cnd3BUZ?play=true&utm_source=open.spotify.com&utm_medium=open

Stig and Anders leave Savn
So, a couple of years ago I posted that Stig Johanssen and Anders Thue (former Drums and Keyboard in TSoTB) had former, with Carmen-Elise Espenaes (singer from Midnattssol), a new band, callen Savn, and released an album.
Later in last year (2016), according to Encyclopaedia Metallum, they left the band, but there are already new members and the band goes on.
Well, that album was the complete oposite from what I expected from them, going way more into the .Liv Kristine pop-ish type of metal, and not the dark, muflled and dramatic sound like in TSoTB.
Here’s the album teaser:
youtube
You see, all those dancing tunes, chorused voices and clear ambience goes all into the other side, so to speak. And for me her voice is just too happy. I am not saying this is bad music by all means, nor that I don’t want people to be happy (haha), but I expected other kind of stuff from TSoTB ex-members.

I never come here anymore, except when there are questions to answer. And that is because there is sadly no more to be said about TSoTB. I could keep talking about the other bands but this is about TSoTB, not other bands.
That said, I still love so much this band and here I bring one of my favorite songs, All Alone. This song has the sound that old Doom Metal used to have, and that we don’t see anymore.

there will some possibilites to see sins of the beloved in concert? in italy or near italy.. i love your music since 2002.. 14 years i wait for your band live.,
Very very sadly no. TSoTB is dead for good.Anders and Stig joined Carmen Espenaes (singer from Midnattsol) and made a band called Savn though. I don’t think it’s as good, but give it a listen. Pete Johansen played in some other bands and then released a solo album, and I don’t know what the others are doing. I think Anita became a mother and is living a common life.
For a while I really wished they did come back, but thinking now, I guess they wouldn’t sound as good as I remember and the songs would be too different. It is a sad thing when a band dies, but we have two wonderful albums and a beautiful DVD to remember them.

I have been trying to contact Sins of thy Beloved regarding two of their tracks featuring on a very dark haunting epic animated movie that we are producing. The movie has a seventy percent finished incredible soundtrack, But I really would like to get in touch with the band to discuss this possibility. The music fits perfectly with the film and it would be a great publicity platform. I hope you can put me in touch. Regards Ralph Shephard. Burnhamwood Productions. I'm on Facebook
Hi, I hope you're still here!
Well, the fact is that the band as a band doesn't exist anymore.I talked to Pete and he is totally fine with that. If you're using it commercially (if you're going to sell your product), however, I'm afraid you're gonna have to contact Napalm Records (maybe through their site), as they are the ones holding the rights.

SAVN - Debut album teaser
SAVN is Stig Johansen and Anders Thue's new band, with Carmen Elise Espenaes as the singer. I'm not sure how I feel about this. It sounds to me more modern, like Leaves' Eyes and Within Temptation does these days. I kinda expected the old-school, rough and melodic Doom Metal. But I really have to listen to the album before giving final opinions. What are you guys' opinions on this?

Hi, do you know a website where I can buy TSOTB t shirts? Ebay doesn't have any at the moment. Thanks!
Sadly not. I'd buy from local stores, but that depends on where you live. Another great option is to google 'custom t-shirts'. There are quite a few websites where you can send them an image and they will print it in a shirt for you! Never tried though.

News! Stig and Anders (ex-drummer and ex-keyboardist from TSoTB in case you don't know) have started a band with Carmen Elise Espenaes (singer in Midnattsol AND Liv Kristine's younger sister). It is called SAVN There's no preview yet, but their Facebook says it's Gothic/Folk metal. I'm happy they got back to making music publicly!
Although their facebook/site top image is horrible, if you look at the other photos, they are looking pretty healthy. Specially Anders!
Also, the album will aparently be produced by Alex Krull (producer of Elis and Leave's Eyes).
More news soon I hope!
