My boyfriend just finished playing the Unlimited Blade Works route of FSN. He now refers to Archer as âBased Shirouâ.

I love this! But I feel like most newbies are going to miss this point or just ignore it completely. And it makes me sad, mad, and frustrated.
Kureno: Are you saying Ren-san is a bad person?
Shigure: It means she should be pitied. All of us should be.
This is not the first time that Fruits Basket explicitly rejects concepts of "good" person vs "bad" person. It comes up again, when Kyoko tells Kyo, "Sides, good guy, bad guy - it's all nonsense".
And once again, when Tohru asks Akito to not seperate herself by devaluing her own humanity in the hospital scene. "Don't seperate us words like 'kinder/beautiful (depending on which translation you read)', don't decide I am one way and you are another".
The point of this is - Fruits Basket makes a case for taking responsibility of your own life as Yuki does, as Kyo does and as Akito later does, and none of their pain is treated as invalid by narrative - even though one of them is abusive and would be a "bad person". Fruits Basket is interested in making larger points about trauma, healing and moving forward and is not interested in morality debates.
Coming back to Shigure's original point, he is also talking about how fucked up the environment they are living in and they are all worthy of pity. In an episode that largely shows you the structure that surrounds Akito and is instrumental in making her who she is, it was an important point to make. The Sohma family is a cult.

Yâall, Akito is my favorite character. And I canât wait to see her descent. To watch her world crumble and fall apart around her. To see Her mental and emotional breakdown.
And then to see her pulled up from it all with the help of Tohru. And also Momiji.
Itâs gonna be a while before I see it. But I get excited thinking about it.

Forgiving Akito - I donât understand
Yo, Iâm really struggling to understand this. I have no problem regarding forgiveness between Akito and her victims in the narrative, and I might want to talk about that later.
But the forgiveness I donât understand, is between the Audience and Akito. Forgiveness is never something I think about when it comes to how I feel about Akito. And I struggle to understand why people are talking about it.
I see it so much and just get a bit confused. Though, the common phrase is âI donât forgive Akitoâ. But my brain just goes âwhy is forgiveness even a factor hereâ. She didnât do anything to you. Sheâs not real.
Like I understand hating and loathing Akito. I understand loving and adoring her. But I donât understand the viewer forgiving or not forgiving her.

Fruits Basket Anime âMistranslationâ
RANT. And Iâm probably gonna sound like a huge dick. I donât know why this is bugging me now. And honestly the situation might be fixed, but itâs Really bugging me. And I kinda need to let it out.
So season 2 episode 24 of Fruits Basket has Shigure subtitled saying along the lines of Akito should teach them a lesson. Which many were quick to yell âmistranlation!!!â
But what irritates me is that NO ONE, Iâve seen uses the actual dialogue in the episode to explain the mistranslation, they use the Manga. Thatâs the evidence. Because you know Anime has NEVER EVER EVER diverged from source material. Anime is always 100% faithfully using the exact dialogue from the souce material.
Oh! Wait!
Perhaps my biggest frustration is that Iâve seen conversations of other shows and media regarding mistranslations or translation errors. And their evidence is never âwell, this thing it is bases on translated as this so thatâs what is supposed to be. So it obviously thatâs itâ
No these people will explain the translation error by actually translating. They put it out that âcharacter has said âforeign wordâ, and that actually means âEnglish equivalentâ
And this frustrates me, no one is talking about the actual dialogue that Shigure is saying in the actual episode. Only what was translated in the manga.
I understand it is an adaptation of said manga. But Iâve seen enough anime adaptations to know things are never 100% word for word or panel for panel.
Maybe it truly was a translation error. But I donât have a problem with whether is or not. Itâs how people went about trying to âproveâ it was, felt ridiculous to me.

Looking at tumblr. I feel like I might be the only one that Ships SesshoumaruxRin, but still understands why this Ship can be seen as problematic.
Like I actually understand why people would feel gross by the ship.
And to be honest, I am of the opinion that the showrunners needed to make Rin even older than she appeared. I cringed because it did seem like she was still too young.

Finally Caught up to Yashahime.
And looking at tumblr, Oh boy the reactions
Some are pissed. Some are overjoyed. And some are even more pissed that there are people who are overjoyed.
As for me. My reaction to the twinâs moms went something like this.
Meanwhile, the 13 year old inside of me is like

I may be the only one. And itâs a really really odd thing to think. But everytime I see Setsuna, I think of Sango.
Like her design reminds me so much of Sango. And it really shouldnât.

It seems like quite a bit of people are already having a problem with Yashahime. And alot of that stuff around Sesshoumaru and his kids.
And while I can kinda understand the frustration, my feelings are like âWell, that seems a bit off. But Iâll wait till i have more information. I just wanna see these three go on adventures.â
The things that bothered people have caught my attention, but Iâm left with curiosity rather than disappointment or negative feelings. I want to see what happened and how it will be resolved.

I wonder if Anime-Only Fruits Basket fans realize that Kureno can be considered a Passive Enabler of Akito.

The lack of understanding Kurenoâs reasons for staying with Akito Frustrates me. Fruits Basket Season Finale should have ended with the previous episode or finished with the end of the conversation.
Spoilers for anyone who hasnât read the manga. Read at your own risk.
At first, I felt conflicted about the finale. I was happy to see the beautiful portrait of Akito. It seemed okay to end it there. But at the same time, I knew this conversation was not over. Not in the slightest.
And upon seeing reactions, I am now more convinced this shouldnât have been the ending. Iâve watched a handful of YouTube reactions to this episode. And not all have same opinion, of course. But a lot do. The frustrating thing Iâve seen is the reaction of Kureno staying. It ranges from a more passive âI would have left if it was meâ to âKureno should have run awayâ.
Or rather from what I can discern, it seems many of them think that Akito at that moment was like how she is now. That she was always abusive, manipulative, and horrible. And they seem to think that the obvious answer should have been to run the fuck away.
But a lot of them donât understand who Kureno sees when he looks at Akito. The part thatâs missing is that Kureno has literally known Akito since she was a a baby. He knew she was coming before her parents even knew. And He has been witnessing her being abused probably since the beginning.
The hate for Akito, I understand. And I donât expect everyone to like Akito at the end of this series. Iâm a little frustrated at the lack of understanding of Kureno and his reasons.

Fruits Baskets and Akito always put me in that frustrating position of constantly reminding myself that most people wonât share my opinion. Which is okay. And their opinion is just as valid as mine.
That said. I still wish people loved my girl the way I do!!!
I LOVE HER SO MUUUCCHHH!!!!
