𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐂𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐀 𝐃𝐎𝐕𝐄 [𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝟒]

synopsis: kageyama did not expect to see his former manager from kitagawa daiichi to be in karasuno, especially he did not expect to be dragged by said female to the volleyball gym on their first day back in school.

Hayami’s POV

“Oikawa-san...”

“Tobio-chan...”

I sighed while waiting for these two to stop their glaring contest.

“What are you doin—”

“C’mon now, Haya-chan, it’s getting late”, the brown-haired boy cut off Tobio-kun and gently tugged me to his side, “Let’s get you home.”

“Bye, Tobio-kun! I’ll see you tomorrow morning at the gym!”, I waved at the boy as Tooru started to walk while intertwining our hands.

When we were far enough from the school, the boy beside me started to angrily talk to himself.

“Why do you have to go to Karasuno when you can go to Seijoh?”, he huffed.

I started to get irritated and sighed for the umpteenth time today. I was tired from all the shenanigans earlier at the gym and just wanted to rest as soon as possible.

“Because I wanted to train under Ukai-sensei”, I huffed back and wiggled my hand from his hold.

“Stop that”, he hissed.

“Then, stop being mad for no reason”, I argued back.

“I’m not mad”, he sighed and retightened his hold.

I ignored him but still let him hold my hand.

We continued to walk to my house as he started to create small talks, however he sighed when he noticed I was giving him the silent treatment.

“I’m sorry, Haya-chan”, but I still ignored him.

“Do you want to get some ice cream, love?”, he looked at me while kissing the back of my hand.

I just looked straight as I was tired and just wanted to get home.

“C’mon, love, let’s get you your sweets”, he tugged my hand towards our favorite ice cream shop, “My treat.”

“Can we PLEASE just get home?”, I finally cracked and glared at our intertwined hands.

There was a few seconds of silence but it was full of tension.

“Okay”, Tooru sighed again, “I’m sorry, love. Let’s get you home so you can get some rest.”

“Finally”, I brattily said but he ignored it and we walked until we reached my house.

When we were in front of my house, I immediately wiggled my hand from his hold but he didn’t let go and just retightened his hold.

“I’m sorry, love, but can we talk and remove the tension first?”, he pleaded.

“What’s there to talk about, Tooru?”, I stopped detaching my hand from his but I didn’t looked back at him.

“I know I was wrong for getting mad at you earlier—”

“So you WERE mad at me”, he flinched when I suddenly turned around and glared at him.

“Keyword, love. WAS. And I’m sorry for being mad at you...”, he continued, “...and for not considering your own interest.”

He gently tugged me towards him and hugged me.

“I realized that I was being selfish and I also let my insecurities get the best of me”, I slowly lifted up my arms and hugged him back.

He tightened his hold on me when he felt my arms around him. Then, he nuzzled his nose against mine; giving me a butterfly kiss.

“I’m really sorry, love”, he whispered.

“I’m sorry for being bratty earlier”, I whispered back.

“It’s fine, love. You look cute”, he chuckled and kissed my forehead.

I broke away from the hug and playfully glared at him, but he only messed up my hair.

“Go in now so you can rest up”, he said with a charming smile.

I hesitated for a few minutes before intertwining my hand with his. He gave our hands a squeeze and patiently waited for me to say something.

“Do you want to go inside and stay until dinner? Obaa-chan, okaa-san, and otoo-san kind of misses you”, I shyly asked while looking and swaying our joined hands.

“Sure! I really missed eating obaa-chan’s delicious food”, he placed a finger under my chin and lifted my face up to make eye contact, “How about you, Haya-chan, don’t you miss me?”

I suddenly felt heat rushing to my cheeks and immediately looked away to avoid eye contact.

“So mean, Tooru”, I pouted but he only chuckled and nudged me to open the door so we can get inside.

author’s note(s): omg i’m vv sorry for the short chap and i even forgot to schedule post this TT but, anw i’m back (sorta) and i’m actually thinking (dw, it’s just a thought but i’ll give a heads up if i’ll really push thru with it) of changing the storyline so pls be patient with me & i hope you enjoy this overdue chap (it’s mostly HayaRu but anw), so tune in if i’ll post another chap about this “couple” on weekends ^^

3rd Person POV

“Iwa-chaaaan~ Haya-chan still hasn’t replied to me”, Oikawa whined while stretching on the gym floors.

“As she should”, Iwaizumi replied beside the whining captain, almost done with his own stretching.

“Iwa-chan! Always so mean to me”, the curly brown-haired pouted and stood up after finishing his warm-ups.

“Don’t worry so much, she might just be in class”, the vice captain also stood up from his sitting position and went to talk to the coaches.

Oikawa mulled over the negative reasons on why his precious kōhai is not responding to his text message.

When he felt like he'll have a panic attack, he immediately focused on his breathing and slowly composed himself as if nothing happened.

“Nope, Iwa-chan is right. Maybe her classes started already and is afraid to have her phone confiscated, so she hasn’t replied to me yet”, the captain nodded to himself but went to his track jacket to retrieve his phone.

He turned his phone on and entered the password (Haya-chan’s birthday), he clicked on his messages to see that she has already seen his text but still hasn’t replied.

The captain unconsciously frowned.

He shook his head and reassured himself that she’s in class and her phone might get confiscated if she replied to him.

He put his phone back inside the pocket of his track jacket and ordered the whole team to divide themselves into two to start the morning practice.

“I hope she replies during lunch time”, Oikawa thought to himself.

.･:*:･(✿ᗒ ‸ ◕) LUNCH TIME (◕ ‿ ◕✿)･:*:･。.

Hayami’s POV

“It’s only the first day and yet they already gave us a lot of homework”, I whined to Ya-chan while we push our desks together and sat down across each other.

She only laughed at me and we both opened our bento boxes.

“Wow, Ya-chan. Yours looks so delicious!”, I eyed her lunch and then looked at mine.

“Thanks, Haya-chan. But your tako sausages looks so cute!”, she said with twinkles in her eyes.

But Ya-chan is cuter! >_<

“I-I also find you cute, Haya-chan”, she blushed and shyly tucked her hair behind her ears.

“Oh no, did I said that out loud?”, she nodded and her cheeks got more red.

We both giggled and started to eat our lunch.

When I was drinking from my water bottle, my phone suddenly rang inside my uniform pocket.

I immediately put my bottle down and fished my phone out to see who was calling me.

‘Oikawa-san’

Oh no, I’m in big trouble. I forgot to reply to him earlier.

I immediately answered his call, thinking it might lessen his scolding.

“Hello, Oikawa-san”, I greeted while poking the remaining tako sausages in my bento.

“Hello, Haya-chan. If you don’t mind me asking, why didn’t you reply to me earlier?”, Oikawa-san asked with a hint of sass in his tone.

“I’m sorry. I was really about to reply to you, but my homeroom teacher walked in the classroom”, I lied while looking at Ya-chan.

The cute girl curiously looked at me while chewing her food.

“I’ll tell you later”, I mouthed to her and she nodded.

“I understand that. But the thought of replying to me after your classes or maybe right now, during your lunch time, never crossed your mind?”, I can sense the worry and anger in his voice.

Then, I heard a familiar gruff voice in the background, Iwaizumi-san’s, shouting at Oikawa-san.

He was scolding the brown-haired boy for getting mad at me for prioritizing my studies.

So, I was on loud speaker the whole time?

“Alright, alright! I’m sorry, okay?! I just got emotional, I’m going to apologize to her now. Geez, you’re always so mean to me, Iwa-chan.”

“Oikawa-san?”, I asked in a quiet voice.

“I’m sorry, love”, he sighed, “I just thought you've forgotten about me and found a better guy there in Tokyo.”

“Ummm Oikawa-san—”, but I was cut off.

“And how many times do I have to tell you to just call me Tooru?”, he groaned.

“Tooru-san—”, I was cut off yet again.

“Just Tooru is fine, love.”

“Tooru”, I sighed and put down my chopsticks, “I’m sorry I didn’t clear this before the new school year started, but I didn’t go to Tokyo.”

Silence was the only thing I heard from the other end.

“I’m still in Miyagi...”, I put my phone between my ear and shoulder, and put away my bento box, “...and I’m here in Karasuno.”

Ya-chan and I stood up, and moved our desks back to its original place as lunch time was almost over.

“Why didn’t you enroll in Seijoh? You know we need you here”, he sighed, “I need you here with me, love.”

“But he needs me more”, I quietly said but not quiet enough, I guess.

“WHO NEEDS YOU MORE?!”, he gasped.

Then, the school bell rang indicating that lunch was finally over.

“I’ll tell everything later, I promise”, I got my notebook and pencil out.

“I’m going to walk you home.”

“But—”

“No buts! I’ll see you later, love”, Tooru said in final.

“Fine”, I huffed, “See you later.”

As soon as I hanged up, the teacher walked inside the classroom.

“Haya-chan, are you okay?”, I looked at Ya-chan who has a worried look.

“I’m fine, don’t worry”, I smiled and put my phone back inside my uniform pocket.

author’s note: so oikawa has a pet name for hayami and he lets her call him ‘tooru’ 👀 is he her boyfriend? maybe or maybe not hehe. you can read this after chapter 1 or it can just be a stand-alone chapter. it was quite fun writing this, so i hope you enjoy reading it & see you on chapter 4!! ^^

Hayami’s POV

“I’ll challenge you”, Hinata-kun declared.

“Hey! Daichi-san is still talking!”, Tanaka-senpai scolded the two boys.

Oh, so his name is Daichi. He must be the team captain based on how he presents himself.

“Challenge me to what?”, Tobio-kun asked.

“Tobio-kun, Hinata-kun, let’s calm down for—”, but I was also interrupted.

“Volleyball, what else?”, the orange-haired boy said.

“How do you expect to challenge me one-on-one?”, the ravenette questioned.

“L-like a passing contest!”

“Guys, listen—”, I tried one more time as I saw the captain’s irked expression, but was ignored again.

“How do you compete at passing?”, I mentally facepalmed at their petty challenge.

“Listen, damn it!”, but before Tanaka-senpai was able to continue his scolding, the vice principal entered the gym.

“What’s the commotion, volleyball club? You’d better not be fighting”, he stopped besides Daichi-senpai.

“Of course not. Just a friendly rivalry, right?”, the captain looked back at us.

“Hai!”, I immediately answered and smiled at the vice principal.

“This vice principal likes to make trouble, so keep it down”, Tanaka-senpai whispered without taking his eyes off the newcomer.

“Serve! I’ll return them all”, of course the two boys were in their own world and did not notice the vice principal.

“Hey!” “Hinata-kun!”, Tanaka-senpai and I simultaneously shouted.

But they still ignored us and continued with their challenge. That’s when everything went downhill.

Hinata-kun’s receive accidentally hit the vice principal which made his wig flew off.

We were all too stunned to speak. After composing himself, the vice principal called the captain to privately talk to him about the unexpected event.

Thank God we were not given a punishment and it’s just the first day of school.

But Daichi-senpai scolded the two boys as they continued to bicker after the vice principal left. He ordered them to accept each other as teammates and pushed them out of the gym with their club application form.

I was able to stay inside the gym and monitored the play styles of the three senpai. I was also able to meet the current team manager and she’s so beautiful like a goddess.

When night came, we heard the shouts of the two boys.

“Captain! Let us challenge you to a match!”, Tobio-kun and Hinata-kun said with determination.

“The two of us against you senpais”, the orange-haired boy added.

Then, they counted and shouted again at the same time.

“We’ll prove that we can cooperate as a team”, I stand dumbfounded beside Suga-senpai while Tanaka-senpai laughed at what they said.

“I heard them say ‘one-two’…”, the senpai beside me said with an amused tone.

“But I can’t say I dislike these guys”, Tanaka-senpai chuckled.

“And what if you lose?”, the captain asked with his arms crossed over his chest.

“We’ll endure any penalty”, Tobio-kun said.

“Then now’s the time. There are two other first-year applicants besides you guys”, Daichi-senpai accepted their challenge and gave the mechanics, “It’ll be a three-on-three match against them.”

“We always play this game every year, just to see what the new members are made of”, he continued.

“But how does it become three-on-three?”, Hinata-kun asked, “Who’s our other team member?”

I also listened carefully to the captain’s instructions as I wanted to help the two boys even though they both kind of made me angry earlier.

“Tanaka, I want you to be on Hinata’s side”, the captain ordered.

Tanaka-senpai, huh? He’s kind of good based on my observations earlier, he can also help Hinata-kun and Tobio-kun to fully accept each other as teammates.

“What? Why me?!”, Tanaka-senpai protested.

“You don’t dislike them, right?”, Daichi-senpai reasoned.

“That doesn’t mean I want to play with them”, the two boys’ face showed dejection upon their senpai’s honest statement.

“I see. I thought you’d be the only one here who could discipline these troublemakers”, I can easily distinguish the fake sad tone that the captain used.

However, I don’t think that Tanaka-senpai noticed it as he suddenly agreed to be Tobio-kun and Hinata-kun’s teammate.

“Oh well! I guess it can’t be helped”, Tanaka-senpai proudly stated, “I’ll do it.”

Sigh. I didn’t think he would be the simple-minded type. But at least the boys can finally play soon.

“Aren’t you glad?”, Tanaka-senpai went in front of Hinata-kun and aggressively patted his shoulder.

“And if you lose the match, as long as we, third-years, are here, Kageyama will never play setter”, Daichi-senpai announced in final.

“What?”, Tobio-kun and I simultaneously whispered, in shock about the mechanics of their challenge.

“That’s all?”, Hinata-kun asked.

“That’s because our team can’t win with a self-centered setter”, the captain said, “A guy who banks on his skills, but loses.”

I looked away while clenching my fist, not noticing the irked expression of the ravenette.

“Tobio-kun is not self-centered”, I whispered to myself, “He’s just misunderstood because he doesn’t know how to express himself properly.”

Suga-senpai heard me and patted my head, as if calming me down. I bowed my head and stared at my shoes, still processing the things that the captain said not long ago.

“What’s the matter?”, Daichi-senpai provoked, “I’m not ejecting you from the club.”

I gritted my teeth at his tone, trying not to talk back to the captain.

Hayami, calm down. You know Tobio-kun can do this.

“You’d be good in other positions, too, wouldn’t you?”, he continued.

I heard Tobio-kun gasped but I still did not lift my head up.

“I’m a setter!”, he shouted.

Don’t worry.

“Then win”, Daichi-senpai said.

I’ll help you win, Tobio-kun.

“You’re here because you think you can win by yourself, right?”, the captain continued, “The game will be on Saturday morning.”

I promise.

Hayami’s POV

I was so focused on taking notes about Tobio-kun’s progress that I didn’t noticed that there was a student at the gym door...

“W-Why are you here?!”, not until they yelled which really surprised me.

I looked up from the notebook and saw an orange-haired boy. Is he a first year, too?

Wait, he looks familiar. I think he’s from Yukigaoka Junior High, one of the teams we competed with from last year.

I looked at Tobio-kun and he has his thinking face on. I smiled and walked towards them.

“I met you last year...”, he started, “But I don’t know your name.”

I quietly snickered; as expected from Tobio-kun.

“M-My name is Hinata Shoyo!”, the orange-haired boy exclaimed with an irked face.

Oh, so that’s his name!

“You probably don’t remember the team you beat in the first match”, Hinata-kun added.

“I remember you very well”, Tobio-kun looked at me when he felt my presence beside him. I grinned at him and he looked away. Cute.

“Yup! He remembers you due to your fast reflexes during the match from last year. However, Tobio-kun here”, I playfully elbowed the boy beside me, “has a little problem of remembering names. Mine included when I first joined the team.”

Hinata-kun looked at me with wide eyes; it seems that he just realized that Tobio-kun wasn’t the only one occupying the gym.

“Hi! I’m Yasuda Hayami, but you can just call me Hayami. I was the volleyball team’s manager. It’s nice to meet you again, Hinata-kun”, I politely smiled at him after introducing myself.

I slightly turned my head to the side when I felt an incredible aura and saw Tobio-kun glaring at Hinata-kun.

“Tobio-kun, behave”, I softly scolded.

But I know my quiet warning was not acknowledged when he continued to glare at the poor boy. I just sighed at his antics and looked in front of me again to see that Hinata-kun finally snapped out of his staring and felt the glare directed at him.

“What? You wanna fight?”, he looked at the raven-haired boy beside me and raised his arms up to defend himself.

I already knew that Tobio-kun doesn’t really know how to properly express himself, especially after that incident. Due to that experience, he is either blunt to others or is glaring at them.

“You were lousy!” Yup, very blunt.

“Tobio!”, I fully turned to my left, “That was not nice.”

He continued to glare at Hinata-kun who is now teary-eyed. I crossed my arms and was ready to full-on scold him when orange-haired boy spoke up.

“D-Don’t make fun of me”, I looked at the boy to see him already looking at Tobio-kun with a glint of determination in his eyes, “Sure, we got slaughtered by you guys...”

Then his next words made me gazed at him in awe.

“But next time, I won’t lose!”, then the two boys glared at each other until Hinata-kun spoke up again.

“That’s why I pledged to myself, so what are you doing here?”, he pointed at Tobio-kun, “How can I defeat you if we’re on the same team?”

“Shouldn’t you be at some other school with strong players?”, he continued.

I looked at the raven-haired boy beside me to see that he was lost for words.

“Why didn’t you go there?”, he looked away from Hinata-kun but mumbled his reason.

“The strongest school in the prefecture...”, I mentally sighed, “...rejected me.”

I looked back at Hinata-kun when I sensed his confusion.

“You didn’t make it?”, he tilted his head to the side, “Even though you’re the King of the Court?”

My eyes instantly widened due to his words and felt Tobio-kun stiffened beside me. Oh no, this is not going to end well.

“Don’t call me that!”, I can clearly hear the anger in his voice.

Before I can even calm him down, we heard voices outside the gym.

“The first setter of Kitagawa is on our team? But the guy’s totally cocky.”

I silently huffed to myself. Tobio-kun is not cocky, he’s just having a hard time expressing himself.

The three of us, then, turned towards the gym door when the sounds of footsteps got nearer.

“Don’t try and intimidate him, okay?”, one softly scolded.

“I-I wouldn’t do something like that”, a third voice replied.

Then, three people entered the gym. One of them must be the team captain and the other two are our senpai.

“Osu!”, Tobio-kun and I simultaneously greeted.

I silently observed the three guys. The silver-haired senpai has a comforting aura and a pretty beauty mark under his left eye. While the black-haired senpai seemed to be the team captain just from the way he presents himself. The senpai with a shaved head looks kind of scary though.

But Iwaizumi-san is scarier, especially if Oikawa-san entertains his fangirls first instead of practicing.

“Hey, hey, hey”, the shaved head senpai intimidatingly called at Tobio-kun and Hinata-kun, “Who said you guys could...”

He abruptly stopped talking when we met eyes. Uh oh, am I in trouble?

As I was about to ask if something was wrong when a tear slipped down his cheek.

“A-another goddess...”, he whispered to himself, teary-eyed.

He was about to skip towards me, but was grabbed by the collar by the black-haired senpai.

“You’re Kageyama and Yasuda?”, he asked and walked towards us after whispering something to the shaved head senpai.

“Hai!”, I smiled politely at them and the shaved head senpai suddenly cried again.

But the other two senpai paid him no mind. Is he always like this?

“Glad you’re both here”, the black-haired senpai put his left hand inside his jacket’s pocket while his other hand was holding onto our club application forms.

“You’re quite tall, Kageyama”, the silver-haired senpai complimented.

And as if there’s an invisible switch inside the gym, the shaved head senpai went back to being intimidating.

“He needs an initiation, Suga-san!”, he glared at Tobio-kun, “Let’s give him a reason to be intimidated by us third-years!”

Suga-san? The silver-haired senpai has a rare family name.

“Tanaka, stop with that face”, the black haired senpai softly scolded.

Oh, so the shaved head senpai’s family name is Tanaka.

They continued to converse with Tobio-kun and from the corners of my eyes, I saw Hinata-kun trying to greet the three senpai but was not noticed.

We met eyes and I smiled at him.

“Say it louder”, I mouthed and he nodded, determined.

“Hello!”, they stopped talking and looked at him.

“Oh! You!”, Tanaka-senpai pointed at Hinata-kun, “Chibi #1!”

Huh? Chibi #1?

The other two senpai also looked shocked upon noticing the orange-haired boy.

“So the other applicant here, Hinata, is...”, the black haired senpai looked at the club application forms in his hand, and looked again at Hinata-kun, “..you?”

“I’m a little surprised...”, he continued, the shock still evident in his voice.

“I see”, he grinned, “So the three of you are here at Karasuno.”

The two boys looked confusedly at the three senpai.

“We saw your match last year”, Suga-san explained with a kind smile.

“You’re way short and sucked bad, but you’ve got guts”, Tanaka-senpai complimented(?) and Hinata-kun enthusiastically thanked him.

“Your jumps were awesome, too”, Suga-senpai added.

“But you haven’t grown much since”, Tanaka-senpai snickered while hovering his hand above the boy’s head.

“I may be little, but I can jump!”, Hinata-kun’s eyes glinted with determination, “I’ll be Karasuno’s ace!”

I sensed Tobio-kun’s incredible aura again and looked to my left to see him glaring at the orange-haired boy.

“Tobio-kun...”, before I can nag him again, he spoke up.

“Hey...”, Hinata-kun and Tanaka-senpai, then, stopped talking.

“If you want to be the ace, I hope you’ve improved”, Tobio-kun continued, “If you goof around, you’ll waste another three years.”

“What did you say?”, the orange-haired boy slowly turned around and glared at the boy beside me.

And another glaring contest have started. Sigh.

“Why must you say that, Kageyama?”, the black-haired senpai softly scolded but the two boys paid him no mind.

“I played with all my might”, Hinata-kun gritted his teeth, “But... But don’t tell me everything I’ve done is a waste!”

“Guys...”, the black-haired senpai tried again, “You know, you’re not enemies any more. Volleyball is about teamwork--”

But he was cut off by what the orange-haired boy declared to Tobio-kun.

“I’ll challenge you.”

Hayami’s POV

“Why are you growing up so fast, Haya-chan?”, otoo-san cried against my doorframe while I nonchalantly arrange the things inside my school bag. “It was just yesterday when you were just a little baby in my arms. I just blinked and now you’re going to attend your first day in Karasuno as a high school student”, he continued wailing.

Okaa-san, then, went inside my room and hanged my school uniform for tomorrow.

“Otoo-san, you’re overreacting again”, okaa-san rolled her eyes.

“How could I not when I’m seeing my little girl grow up in front of my eyes”, otoo-san looked at me, teary-eyed.

“It’s not like I’m getting married or anything”, I sighed, “I’m just going to high school, otoo-san.”

I put my school bag on my desk chair and faced my parents.

“And besides, I’m not planning to have a boyfriend or get married until I achieve all of my goals first”, I smiled at them, “I promise.”

And that’s the cue for my otoo-san’s waterworks again. Sigh.

.･:*:･(✿ᗒ ‸ ◕) THE NEXT DAY (◕ ‿ ◕✿)･:*:･。.

“Ittekimasu obaa-chan, okaa-san!”

“Itterasshai! Don’t forget to also text otoo-san that you’re off to school, you know how he is!”

“Hai, okaa-san!”, I closed the door and started walking to school while getting my phone out of my uniform’s pocket.

Ohayō, otoo-san! I’m on the way to school. Have a good day at work and I’ll see you later at home ^^

“And send”, I happily murmured to myself.

I plugged my earphones to my phone before I put it back inside my pocket. I hummed to the songs from my favorite playlist until I arrived at the front gate of Karasuno.

From the corner of my eyes, I spotted a familiar blueberry head. So he didn’t got in Shiratorizawa, huh?

Without thinking twice, I secretly followed him until he went inside a classroom. I stopped walking and looked at the classroom sign, Year 1-Class 3.

“So he’s still in class 3, I should probably tutor him like before just to make sure that he doesn’t fail any of his classes”, I quietly sighed and walked past by his classroom to go to mine, class 5.

When I arrived at the door, I immediately skimmed the classroom and speed-walked to the seat beside a cute and quiet girl. I removed my earphones and hid it inside the front pocket of my school bag. After doing so, I placed the bag under the table and sat down.

I fished my phone out of my uniform’s pocket and saw a notification from otoo-san. I immediately unlocked my phone and read his reply.

Ohayō! I hope you have a great day at school, Haya-chan. But if someone bothers you, just message otoo-san and I’ll immediately drive there to fetch you!

I quietly laughed to myself and replied with a smiley and thumbs up emoticon. When I was about to put my phone back inside my uniform’s pocket, I received another message but it was from someone else.

Ohayō, my Haya-chan! Oikawa-san thought you’ll enroll in Seijoh to be our cute manager again, but I just recently heard from Kindaichi and Kunimi-chan that you’ll be attending Nekoma High. Although it’ll be lonely without Oikawa-san by your side, I hope you have an amazing experience there in Tokyo. Don’t hesitate to message me for a selfie if you missed me too much. Oikawa-san will gladly send you one right away! ♡

Oh no! I forgot to tell Yuta-kun and Aki-kun that I rejected Nekomata-sensei’s offer and now Oikawa-san also thinks that I’m in Tokyo.

I facepalmed myself and was about to reply to Oikawa-san to clear the misunderstanding. However, I was stopped by someone tapping my shoulder. I immediately looked up from my phone to see the cute girl beside me, shyly peering at me.

“U-um, I’m sorry but I saw you’re kind of troubled a-and I just want to ask if you’re ok— I-I mean do you need help w-with something?”, she cutely stuttered.

“Oh! No, no. I’m fine, there was just a misunderstanding with... a friend. Nothing major, just a simple text can fix it. But thank you for asking though”, I kindly smiled at her and put my phone inside my pocket. Oikawa-san can wait.

“O-oh okay. I’m Hitoka Yachi, b-by the way. N-nice to meet you!”, she nervously smiled while playing with her hair. She’s so cute!

“Hi Ya-chan! Wait, can I call you that?”, I politely asked her, I don’t want to make her uncomfortable.

“I-it’s okay! Whatever m-makes you comfortable”, Ya-chan shyly nodded.

“Okay, Ya-chan it is!”, I grinned at her, “I’m Yasuda Hayami, but you can call me Haya-chan if you want.”

“O-okay, Haya-chan”, we giggled and talked until the school bell rang for first period.

.･:*:･(✿ᗒ ‸ ◕) FAST FORWARD TO AFTER-SCHOOL CLUB (◕ ‿ ◕✿)･:*:･。.

“What club are you joining, Ya-chan?”, I asked while I was returning my pencil case inside my school bag.

“To be honest, I’m not sure yet”, Ya-chan pouted, “Maybe I’ll go to the photography club... What about you, Haya-chan? Have you decided which club you want to join?”

I slipped my school bag on my shoulder and linked arms with my new friend when she was done packing her things.

“I’m going to join the boys’ volleyball club as a manager”, I exclaimed after we left our classroom, “If you’re still not sure with the photography club, you can come with me to the gym.”

We stopped walking near the staircase and unlinked arms.

“Thanks, Haya-chan! I’ll think about it. Anyways, I’ll see you tomorrow?”, Ya-chan smiled. Why is she so cute? (>﹏<)

“Yeah, I’ll see you tomorrow”, we waved each other goodbye and went our separate ways.

I went down the stairs and walked towards the volleyball gym while taking the filled out club application form from my school bag. As I looked up, I noticed someone ahead of me. Someone with a familiar blueberry head.

An instant smile painted my face and I run towards that person. When I was near him, I surprised him by grabbing his hands and dragging him towards the gym.

“C’mon, Tobio-kun! Walk a bit faster!”, I giggled while looking back at him.

Kageyama’s POV

I hope no one is at the gym yet, I want to practice my serve—

“C’mon, Tobio-kun! Walk a bit faster!”, someone suddenly grabbed my hand and before I was able to process everything, I was being dragged towards the gym.

Who is this person and why is she dragging— Wait... A she?

I looked closely at the girl and— (A/N: More like you were glaring at her, Tobio)

“Y-Yasuda-san?”, I asked, surprised. She looked back at me and smiled.

“Hi, Tobio-kun! Hisashiburi!”, she giggled while still dragging me until we were in front of the open gym doors. She didn’t let go of my hand until we were inside.

I was about to ask her what she was doing here in Karasuno, but she beat me to it.

“‘Why are you here in Miyagi instead of Tokyo?’ is what you want to ask me, isn’t it, Tobio-kun?”, Yasuda-san smiled while putting down her school bag, “Well, I think I wasn’t ready to leave this place and chichi wasn’t ready to let me live in the big city yet. So here I am.”

Oh yeah, her otoo-san is really protective of her and he’s really scary. (A/N: Should I do a special chapter when the Kita-Ichi boys met otoo-san?)

“Anyways, enough about me. How about you, Tobio-kun? Why are you here in Karasuno instead of Shiratorizawa?”, she asked while going to the storage room.

I clumsily put my school bag beside hers and immediately helped her in setting up the net.

“I wasn’t offered a scholarship, so I tried answering their entrance exam and...”, I mumbled the last part, scared of making her mad. She’s really scary when she’s mad.

“And failed it because you didn’t understand the content of the exam. I heard that”, she sighed and turned to me after she secured the net straps.

I immediately straightened and bowed my head, ready to be scolded. But I was surprised yet again when she tiptoed and patted my head.

“I should have followed my instincts and tutored you”, she chuckled to herself and went to her school bag.

“C’mon, Tobio-kun. Let’s see your progress so far, start warming up and we’ll look at your serves afterwards”, Yasuda-san instructed, a notebook in her hands.

Ah, she’s in manager mode already.

“Hai!”, I started doing my warm-ups when she suddenly switched off her manager mode.

“And I’ve already told you before, you can just call me Hayami”, she cutely whined.

My eyes widened and I felt my face heating up. I immediately stopped my warm-ups and turned my head away from her vision. Why is my heart beating so fast?

“H-hai, H-Hayami-san”, I mentally cursed at myself for stuttering.

“I’m waiting for your serves, Tobio-kun”, she crossed her arms and playfully glared at me.

I shook of the confusing feelings and resumed doing my warm-ups. We made small talks while I practiced my serves and she was taking down notes.

3rd Person POV

The two first year students were too focused in their own world that they didn’t noticed someone by the gym door. Not until that person yelled.

“W-Why are you here?!”

FUN FACTS:

According to my research regarding the surname “Yasuda (安田)”, yasu (安) means "peace, quiet" which I associated to the symbolism of a dove, and ta (田) means "field, rice paddy" as the Miyagi prefecture is often synonymous with rice paddies. On the other hand, to describe the name “Hayami (早美)”, haya (早) means “early, fast” and mi (美) means “beauty”. From other websites, Hayami is described as “rare or unusual beauty”.

Otoo-san and okaa-san met in Tokyo during their college years. Otoo-san is originally from Miyagi, whereas okaa-san is a Filipina who chose to complete her degree in Japan. So, Hayami is half Japanese and half Filipina. They got married after being together for 6 years.

Hayami came from a family of coaches. Otoo-san was a former baseball player and is the current coach for the baseball team of University of Tokyo. Okaa-san was a former coach for the women’s volleyball team of Nippon Sports Science University. However, she chose to retire and is currently helping obaa-chan around the house and the family bakery.

Hayami was not supposed to be an only child. When she was around 4 years old, her parents was expecting a little boy. However, okaa-san had an accident which affected the baby. After that incident, they didn’t try for another one and Hayami respected their decisions.
