in my feelings · a connection that is notorious for going round and round like a carousel. kehlani really likes this person, and they really like her, but not enough to show it as well as they could. whether they admit it or not, they’ve kept kehlani hooked on their line for a long time now. as much as kehlani tries to get away from them and move on, it’s only a matter of time because she answers their calls and the cycle starts again. this person has done some critical damage to her self worth, the longer they toy with her, the longer she quietly lowers her self esteem. 

piece of mind · during their relationship, kehlani eventually grew to be miserable. the drama between them was always constant, no matter how many times she tried to keep the piece they just couldn’t stop fighting. hurtful words were always thrown during arguments, their phones were always blowing up with texts during fights, and everything was blown out of proportion. after the fights, they would come back down from their anger and realized what they were doing, often trying to cover it up with romantic gestures to get her to forget. 

not used to it · holy feelings batman, kehlani has got it bad! she’s full on in love with this person but with the love comes crippling fear. she hasn’t been given a lot of reasons to trust people in her life, which keeps her from embracing the feelings she has for this person. this person is paying for pain they did not inflict. she wants to give them a chance to show her something different, but always seems to chicken out. she probably comes close to letting them in emotionally but then clams up before it can really start.

advice · kehlani fell for the wrong person, simple as that (although they may not have intended to be this way). there were a lot of empty promises involved, which eventually lead to their down fall. kehlani truly believed she was in a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love (and goes as far as to describe them as ‘the person of her dreams’) but was looking at the relationship through rose colored glasses. it just wasn’t healthy and she damn near went crazy trying to fix it. their break up was prolonged and kehlani felt as though she had the rug ripped out from underneath her. after their break up, the other person realized what their relationship had done to her and tried to be her friend, but it was too hard for her. 

do u dirty · this person pursued a relationship with her and (like a lovesick fool) actually expected it to last. they saw the good in her and not the damage, so in a sense they idealized her. they fell for her as hard as they did fast, which was a little too much for kehlani. she was just interested in something light and fun, and granted it still was, but it was not mutual. kehlani liked them for sure, but she didn’t fall in love with them. she really broke this person’s heart by giving them a special kind of love (the kind that always has you in your feelings long after its gone) and then leaving because it got too serious. her reason for it was that she was too young for something of that intensity. 

escape · this person is a good (read: great) person and kehlani knows it, which is why she likes them so much. and they like her too, and she knows it, but she’s not letting anything happen between them. why? because she sees the light in them and she knows she’d only end up dimming them. she’s let people get lost in her before, and she has lost herself in others, and she doesn’t want this person to be collateral damage to her destructive tendencies. she feels as though her love is a burden and this person is better off not being cuffed by her. she admires them romantically from a distance.

HIGHLIGHTS: kehlani attended the enchanted gala w/ joe anoa’i, where she bickered with penny. she fled the main ballroom in tears after talking to xavier rexha even though all he really said was that she looked nice that night. after crying in the bathroom, she asked joe to leave and they went to ocean city for a few days. kehlani went back to her tour afterwards because she didn’t have a reason to go to nashiville for father’s day. she admitted to xavier that she was pregnant when they broke up and that it didn’t work out. after this, depression hit her hard and she shut down. penny was there to pick up the pieces and force kehlani out of bed to finish the leg of the tour she was on. now the girls are having sex regularly and are talking about getting back together in their open relationship.

FEELINGS: her emotions are all over the place. she likes joe, but worries the age difference between them is too much of a problem—plus, she’s not about that baby mama life. still, she finds him nice and hasn’t completely taken him off the table. seeing xavier broke her heart because it forced her to think about her pregnancy after spending a lot of time avoiding doing so. she’s angry at herself for telling him the truth because of his initial reaction, which she can’t seem to let go of. being around penny helps her. kehlani loves penny, but isn’t sure if penny wants to be with her out of pity for the loss of the baby. kehlani’s depression is finally stable after the dip she took after talking to xavier and she’s slowly but surely getting back to feel like her own self again.

ENCHANTED HEADCANONS!

kehlani’s date was joe anoa’i, who she has been casually ‘seeing’ for a few weeks now. they went as hades and persephone, as decided by kehlani. she was originally going to be an angel but offered to pick something to match with him because he didn’t know what to wear. 

the red carpet was fun, it was the first time the majority of the paparazzi knew who kehlani was. she had a gassed up moment posing for the cameras, but it was all in good fun. there are more silly pictures of her than there are serious.  

not being entirely used to committing to high heels, kehlani had to take hers off to ascend the large staircase that lead to the gala event. this prompted a mix of humored and disgusted looks from other patrons. 

however, the fun stopped for kehlani the moment she got to her dinner place sitting. she was sat directly across from xavier, her ex boyfriend. she hadn’t seen or heard from in a long time and it damn near froze her to see him, sitting there so casually. 

she spent the majority of the dinner and presentation avoiding looking in his general direction. she did a pretty good job at keeping her demeanor calm and collected, but her leg was trembling and her stomach felt nauseous the entire time. 

picking up on how weird she was acting, joe devoted the night to making her laugh. he was seen whispering stupid jokes in her ear all night which caused her to laugh because she’s a dork, but also because her neck is ticklish. it looked more scandalous than it was. 

when joe disappeared for a few minutes, obstacle number two presented herself. penny, a little tipsy, took his seat next to kehlani and made it clear she was jealous that kehlani was there with someone else. annoyed, kehlani discreetly called her out on her bullshit. 

after this happened, xavier decided to try to talk to kehlani. locking eyes with him for more than a few moments reminded her of her medically necessary abortion enough to burst into tears. scared of making a scene, kehlani quickly rushed away from the table. 

xavier followed her and tried to talk to her, very confused as to why she’d be so upset. he was angry with her but didn’t want her to cry. however, kehlani insisted she was fine (despite crying) and begged for him to go back into the gala. when that didn’t work, she simply went into the ladies’ room and locked the door behind her. 

it took some time for her to calm down enough to exit the bathroom. most of the signs she had been crying were gone, but her eyes were still slightly puffy and sad. in a hurry to get away from the gala before it could get worse, kehlani tracked down joe and asked if they could ditch. he could tell things got worse and he obliged, but insisted he wasn’t just going to let her go back to her hotel to sit by herself while upset.

after some resistance, he talked kehlani into taking a trip with him. they rented a car and went for a very, very long drive. they ended up in ocean city, new jersey.
