Wild Ones

Summary: Heading to Hogwarts for the first time, Remus tries not to let his worries get him down. He has a lot on his plate—truths he can’t share with anyone—and none of it is helped by the bullies constantly casting jinxes and calling him nasty names. Despite it all, though, he has his three best friends—the first friends he’s ever made, in fact.

Yet, it doesn’t take long for Sirius to start getting suspicious, questioning what strange sickness could be keeping Remus in the hospital wing for days at a time. Ever nosy, Sirius takes it upon himself to unravel the mystery that is Remus Lupin, unaware of the tortured consequences that come with knowing such an intimate secret.

A story about the Marauders as they navigate their school years and set off into adulthood. Starts in Year One of Hogwarts.

Chapter 13

As usual, they stayed well away from the middle of the common room once they arrived at Gryffindor Tower. They were generally unwanted and so skirted around the edge to the stairs, creeping up out of sight to their dormitory. The story of them yelling at Professor Hickenbottom would no doubt be travelling fast, so they'd best be out of everyone's hair before it hit.

"I think maybe we ought to eat in the kitchens tonight," Sirius muttered as they reached their door.

"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," James agreed.

Pushing their way inside their dormitory, they listened in on the quiet, immediately noting that the curtains surrounding Remus' bed were pulled closed. Generally, they kept all their curtains open.

Not a great sign.

Walking in further, Sirius' attention snagged on the wolf plush that was lying on the floor near the center of the room. Like maybe it'd been thrown aside in a fit of rage or frustration. Reaching down, he delicately picked it up before turning back to Remus' bed. He frowned.

"Remus?" James dared to say.

No response.

The three boys shared a look between one another, unanimously deciding not to push the subject.

Taking Remus' wolf plush to his own bed, Sirius set it up beside Ugo and, as quietly as he could, pulled The Two Towers off his bedside table. Leaning back in his pillows, he cracked it open to keep reading, James and Peter taking up similarly quiet preoccupations. While they'd been doing a pretty good job so far at acting like nothing was amiss since the last full moon, it felt insensitive given what had happened earlier that day to "go about business as usual." Acting like maybe they weren't in the room at all seemed wiser.

Though it would shock those who didn't actually know them, they did manage to stay quiet for the next few hours, until James grabbed up his cloak so they could sneak down to the kitchens for dinner.

"Remus?" James tried again, as they were preparing to leave. "We're going to get dinner in the kitchens. You want anything?"

Still no response.

"Okay…"

It was a morose ordeal, the three barely saying anything at all as they slogged through their meal. Mels did ask them where "Mr. Lupin" was, so Sirius told her he wasn't feeling well. She seemed to think that food would solve this problem and so sent them back with two full plates that they "absolutely needin' to be takin' to Mr. Lupin." If there was raw meat involved, none of them bothered to mention it.

"We brought you back some food," James said as they once again found themselves standing around Remus' bed. Sirius and Peter set the plates on Remus' bedside table.

Silence followed.

James sighed. "Come on, Remus. We have to talk about this."

"Leave me alone," Remus said from inside the curtains, his voice sounding very stuffy.

The Days That Bind Us Together, Forever

Summary: Being “reborn” was the last thing Remus Lupin expected to have happen to him, and when he attends Hogwarts in the year 2015, he’s shocked to find that he’s not the only one. James, Lily, and Sirius have also been granted the same fate, though why and to what end is a mystery to them all. Still, they’ve been given a second chance, something they have a responsibility to embrace after having been dealt so many tragedies. Yet, they’re ever-haunted by their pasts, old wounds always raw and exposed. How are they meant to navigate this new life when so much of the old is determined to drag them down?

And how is Harry supposed to protect them, when so many dangers are still at large and intent on undoing everything he's worked so hard to keep safe?

Chapter 2

The best plans were always those that started out with a general sense of unease. Not from the marauders, but from those who realized they were up to something.

Fred had asked to get in on their plan, but upon James explaining that they'd be doing advanced sorts of magic, he'd had to accept being left out. Which had left him pouting, but James had assured him they'd teach him plenty of neat things over the school year ("You're bound to be a Gryffindor," James had said. "So we'll all be in the same dormitory."). It was an idea that once again left Remus a bit uneasy, and he could tell that Sirius felt much the same way.

Back in the old days, they'd only ever shared their dormitory with each other (and Peter, back before he'd been terrible). It wasn't just the idea that now they'd have to share with Fred that Remus didn't particularly like, but that maybe they'd even end up with more boys in their dormitory.

It was a notion that didn't appear to perturb James, but that Remus and Sirius kept sharing looks about.

In any case, the first part of their plan required the invisibility cloak and a bit of apparition. Remus hadn't actually tried to apparate since being reborn, but figured that it couldn't be too difficult. Besides, he had a wand now, which should help center his power.

Once Sirius had transfigured all their luggage into pocket-sized versions that were easy to carry, they gestured Fred off with the rest of the first years, huddled up under James' cloak, and waited till the train was empty before they headed out. Once outside, they nodded to each other before both James and Sirius grabbed Remus by the hand.

Neither of them had tried apparating either, and seeing as Remus had always been the best at it, they'd decided to just ride along.

Thankfully, apparating came easily back to him, just like any habit, and though his landing was clumsy, Remus soon had them standing just outside the Hogwarts gate, far, far ahead of any of the carriages carrying the older students.

Staying beneath the cloak, they headed inside the grounds, running as fast as they could toward the castle.

Summary: Five years after Ultima’s defeat, those left behind have no choice  but to push onward in a world still on the precipice of ruin. Left with  all that remains of Clive—her twin boys—both Jill and Joshua do all that  can be to ensure the world they grow up in is one of less strife and  struggle than what came before. But the destruction of the crystals and  the god that created them has left the aether and eikons in a state of  chaotic distress that plagues the entirety of Valisthea. And now, to  have received a letter from the north about stone bearers coming back to  life, Jill has a new mystery to unfold.

At the same time, Clive  finds himself waking on what he thinks must be the western Rosarian  coast, though how he arrived there, he doesn’t know. Nor has he any idea  how much time has passed since that final fight with Ultima. But as he  begins to investigate, he sees a battle of eikonic proportions in the  distance, one that revives old, bitter memories. Ifrit, perhaps, can  make up for wrongs wrought so long ago.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, a shadow manipulates them all, his eyes set on those who would become dominants and tools both.

Letter in hand, Clive forced his breath to remain steady, even as the edges of the parchment wrinkled in the tightness of his hold. In front of him, Joshua remained gravely serious, while at his side, Elwin looked curiously up between them. From where he remained in Clive's arms, Pup stared hard at the letter, as if trying to parse together a puzzle.

Eventually, Pup moved his little hand from where he'd been resting it upon Clive's chest to instead point a finger at a single word written upon the parchment. He then looked to Clive and said, "That word is 'Jill'—that's Mama."

Swallowing hard, Clive pressed the letter back into Joshua's hands. "Indeed," he agreed.

Pup waited, perhaps expecting further expansion. "I can't read," he eventually admitted, as Clive struggled with what else to say. "Not very good…"

"It is merely a letter from Sir Wade," Joshua finally cut in, managing a much brighter smile. "Updating us as to his and your mother's activities in the North."

"Is Mama coming home?" Elwin asked, holding Clive by the edge of his leg armor.

"Soon," Joshua said vaguely.

"When is soon?" Pup asked critically.

"Once they've finished their task," Joshua replied, an answer that did little to enlighten the twins.

"When is that?" Elwin asked.

Clive just spared him a tight smile in response, before lowering Pup to the dirt floor of the stables. Were the situation different, he might have sent them off elsewhere, so that he and Joshua could discuss the true contents of the letter, but he dared not let them out of his sight. And if they were within sight, then he had to be careful about whether they were in hearing range as well.

"Why don't you two brush down Ambrosia," Joshua said as he reached for a nearby tack shelf and retrieved two soft bristle brushes. He then moved to Ambrosia's stall and undid the latch so as to open it. "Clive and I have some rather boring business to discuss."

"Okay!" Elwin agreed and happily took the brush before skirting into the stall.

Pup was not so easily cast off, even as he took the brush offered to him. Frowning, he was downright suspicious as he stared up at Joshua and said, "I'm Clive."

Joshua scoffed lightly. "'Worm' and I have some things to discuss," he corrected lightly.

His word choice was met with further rebellion. "He's not a worm."

"Oh, Worm!" Elwin called from inside Ambrosia's stall.

A sliver of warmth managed to penetrate Clive's otherwise chilled and troubled countenance.

Joshua sighed. "Your father and I have some things to discuss."

"Elwin."

"Are you really an outlaw?"

Supposing that sort of title didn't expire with time, Clive said, "I suppose so."

"I want to be an outlaw," Elwin claimed as he swung his sword at some passing brush.

Smiling sympathetically, Clive squeezed Elwin's hand in his a little tighter. "You're already a Lord and a Prince. Are those not titles enough?"

Continuing to haphazardly swing his sword as they walked, Elwin hummed thoughtfully and said, "Those are boring."

"I don't think you'd have much fun as an outlaw either."

"I think so."

Clive supposed there was little point in arguing.

"Worm?"

"Elwin."

"Can you really steal eikon powers?"

Steal? Sounded as if Joshua must have been telling that story. A difficult question to answer, nonetheless. "It's not quite that simple."

Elwin turned up at him. "Will you steal my powers?"

"Technically, I already have them."

Nose scrunching in confusion, Elwin said, "Oh," and returned his attention to smacking weeds.

"Worm?"

"Elwin."

"Why don't worms have legs?"

"I don't know."

"Oh, okay." Pause. "Why don't you know?"
