Pop Out Timer 4.3.1
Decided to put out one more quick update of Pop Out Timer before WWDC.
Version 4.3.1 adds the ability to control the Overtime option for timers. It is enabled by default. Overtime allows the timer to continue counting up past 0:00 to see how far overtime you have gone. Disable this option if you would prefer for the timer to stop at 0:00.

Morpho Converter 2.6
Our latest update for Morpho Converter is here and it's a big one.
Custom Units
This has been one of our most requested features. Define specialized units for your profession or hobby, or add an uncommon unit that is not yet officially supported.
Access Custom Units from Settings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Simply choose a category, give it a name and symbol, and define a conversion factor. Custom unit conversions will be appear instantly alongside the rest of your favorites.
For example, if I wanted to decide between taking my minivan or my Prius on my next roadtrip, I could add custom units to figure out gas cost. Considering the average cost per gallon of $3.18, I can add a custom unit called Minivan with conversion factor of 3.18 / 17 mpg = 0.1870588235 equal to 1 mile.
Tumblr media
Now I can add a miles to minivan conversion to my favorites and see how much money I'll spend at the pump for my trip.
Tumblr media
Custom units sync automatically to your Apple Watch and are supported on widgets as well.
If you create an export file, your custom units are included along with your conversions. So you can easily create units on one device and import them to the rest of your devices.
Torque
We have added a new Torque category with 17 units of measurement. Torque brings the total number of supported categories to 24.
Tumblr media
Horsepower
We had received a request to include additional variations on the Power > Horsepower unit. In addition to traditional Horsepower, Morpho now supports Horsepower (Electric) and Horsepower (Metric).
Tumblr media
Thai Area Units
Thailand has its own set of area unit that are used in land measurement. We have added Rai, Ngan, and Tarang Wa units to the Area category in Morpho.
Tumblr media
19 New Languages
We have localized Morpho into 19 additional languages:
Catalan
Croatian
Czech
Danish
Dutch
Finnish
Greek
Hindi
Hungarian
Indonesian
Malay
Norwegian
Polish
Romanian
Slovak
Swedish
Thai
Turkish
Ukrainian
This brings us to a grand total of 31 languages supported in Morpho.
Fixes
No update would be complete without a few fixes.
Fixed issue with pounds and stones conversion.
Fixed issue with navigation button sizes on Pro Max devices.
Attempt to fix issue with widget displaying default conversions after device restart. If you continue to see this issue please let us know.
We hope you enjoy the update. Let us know what you think.

Pop Out Timer 4.3
Another small update to Pop Out Timer is available in the App Store.
Tumblr media
Reset shortcut action. This new action allows you to restart your timer or stopwatch from the beginning. It respects your current playing state, so if the stopwatch is currently running it will be reset to 0:00 and continue playing.
Add Lap shortcut action. This action works specifically on the stopwatch to add a lap and reset to 0:00.
Start and Pause shortcut actions can now be run without opening the app. Previously, calling one of these actions would bring Pop Out Timer to the foreground. Not ideal. This is much better.
Fixed issue where laps may not respect tenths of a second setting until app is restarted.
Fixed issue where Manage Subscription would incorrectly appear for users without a subscription.

Pop Out Timer 4.2
The latest version of Pop Out Timer (& Stopwatch & Clock) is out today and it has a couple of big additions.
Aspect Ratio
One of our most requested features is to make the picture-in-picture window even smaller. Unfortunately, iOS sets the limitations on how small the window can go based on its aspect ratio. You can now choose between Regular, Wide and Ultra Wide aspect ratios.
Regular: the aspect ratio we've used for a long time now. Looks best with 4 digits.
Wide: if you'll be spending more time with larger values (a stopwatch that runs for hours) then this may be a better fit.
Ultra Wide: if you absolutely must have the shortest picture-in-picture window to keep the time from covering other UI elements, choose Ultra Wide. It's too wide, really, but allows the window to be presented with minimal height used.
Tumblr media
Colors
Another highly requested feature is to allow customization through color selection. You can choose the background color and text color, as well as the warning and overtime colors for timers. Colors are customizable per tab, so you can make your stopwatch distinct from your timer or clock.
Tumblr media
Languages
Pop Out Timer is now available in 29 additional languages. Let us know if you find any issues with translation in your language.
In-App Subscription Management
We've implemented Apple's support for in-app subscription management, accessible from the More tab and sidebar.
Tumblr media
Shortcut Fix
We have also fixed a bug where the Configure Timer shortcut would not work unless you were on the main timer screen. You still cannot be actively running a timer when you use this shortcut action, but as long as the timer is stopped you can reconfigure the timer as need be.
Tumblr media
Hope you enjoy the update! We'd love to hear your feedback by email or on Mastodon.

Participant for Zoom 4.0
Yesterday marked the release of Participant for Zoom 4.0. Here's a rundown of the changes.
Updated UI for Meeting Screen
The biggest change on the meeting screen is probably the new floating toolbar. This allows us to provide larger, clearer controls, without blocking out too much UI. What hasn't changed: your mic and camera status, along with raised hand, are always on screen for you to see and change.
Tumblr media
There are a number of subtle tweaks here as well.
The leave meeting button has an updated style.
Other users' videos are now larger with less gap.
There is better contrast and a bolder font for participant names.
The unmuted icon will no longer show on participant videos for a cleaner look. If there is no microphone icon the user is unmuted.
The Active Apps Notifier button has been moved onto the grid for a cleaner top bar.
There is a new location for changing video sort order. Instead of sitting above the grid it can now be found in the main menu.
The connect/disconnect audio option is no longer in meeting settings and is now available right in the main menu as well.
Share Extension
Participant now has a share extension that accepts URLs. Anywhere in iOS that you can share a URL you can now share it into Participant. If the app detects a Zoom URL it will give you the option to join in Participant or add the meeting to your My Meeting list. This is an easy way to jump right into Participant if you have been given a URL in an email.
Tumblr media
More
Redesigned meeting settings.
Tweaked the green color for the default Attendant theme.
Performance improvements.
App icon shortcuts can now provide up to 4 recent/pinned meetings, instead of just the last meeting you joined.
Localizations
Participant has been localized into 10 additional languages:
Chinese
Danish
Dutch
Japanese
Malay
Polish
Portuguese (Brazil)
Portuguese (Portugal)
Romanian
Swedish
This brings Participant to a total of 15 supported languages.
Hope you enjoy the update.

Morpho Converter 2.5.1
Another update to Morpho Converter is available. Here's what's news.
Auto Clear
Auto Clear will reset to zero when the app is opened, according to the interval you select in Settings. Here are the available options.
Tumblr media
Subscription Management
You can now manage your subscription in-app instead of having to jump out to the App Store.
Currency Symbol
A small detail that probably no one notices: we make the symbol for the currency category match the user's locale. Think ¥ for users in Japan and € for users in Germany. In this update, we've added support for more symbols.
Hope you enjoy the update.

Pop Out Timer 4.1
We released the latest version of Pop Out Timer over the weekend and it's a good one. There are a number of new options available for timer and stopwatch.
Timer
These new options can be found in the top-right menu on the Timer screen.
Tumblr media
Reset
Let's start with what has probably been our most requested feature. The ability to restart the timer while popped out. The system limits us somewhat in what we can do from the Picture-in-Picture window, but we've made this work just like Lap Mode for Stopwatch. If you enable this setting (it's off by default), you can restart your timer simply by tapping stop and then play from the PiP window. Your timer will start at the beginning.
Show Tenths of a Second
If you need a bit more accurate timing, enable "Show Tenths of a Second".
Alarm Volume
Choose to make the alarm tone quieter or louder. Of course, muting entirely is still available directly from the timer screen.
Alarm Duration
There's more flexibility on the duration of the end of timer alarm. You can now make it shorter or longer. Choose "Continuous" if you would like the alarm to keep sounding until you respond to it, either by stopping or resetting the timer.
Tumblr media
Clear Recent Timers
We've restored this pre-4.0 feature to clear recent timers if you feel the need to tidy up.
Stopwatch
The Stopwatch screen also now features a top-right menu to quickly change options.
Tumblr media
Lap Mode
This feature has moved to the menu, but it works just like before. Stop and then play from the Picture-in-Picture window to mark a lap and restart from 0:00.
Show Tenths of a Second
Use this option to get more precise timing. Tenths of a second will also be reflected in lap times.
We've also fixed a crashing bug that occur when moving the timer to the background. We hope you enjoy the update. We love to hear how you're using Pop Out Timer and any suggestion you might have. Get in touch by email or on Mastodon.

Morpho Converter 2.4
To coincide with the iOS 18 launch today, we've just released Morpho Converter 2.4. This update provides a number of compatibility fixes.
Icons
One of the biggest user-facing features at launch for the new version of iOS is support for dark and tinted icons on the Home Screen. Morpho's icons now fully support any icon mode.
Here are some examples of dark mode icons:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And tinted icons:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Widgets
Widgets also receive support for tinting. We have re-thought the tinted elements a bit both on the iPhone and Apple Watch to better match Apple's system style.
Tumblr media
Miscellaneous
There are a number of other smaller improvements and fixes included in this release:
Minus key (-) on hardware keyboards will now toggle positive negative (you can still use + if you'd like).
Fixed issue where selecting country would not navigate to country screen, specifically if you had your language set to a non-English language.
Fixed issue where duration units would sometimes not appear in search.
Fixed issue where widget/Watch app would not display value/icon in dark mode if theme was Black & White or Minimal.
Morpho Converter 2.4 is available now for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. You can connect with us on Mastodon if you have any questions at @thinktapwork.

Attendant for Zoom 3.0
This week we've released Attendant for Zoom 3.0. To avoid repeating myself, most of the changes can be found in my last post: Participant for Zoom 3.0.
In short:
Ability to edit meetings and assign nicknames
Ability to pin meetings to keep them at the top
Increased number of recent meetings
Improved join meeting experience
Option to open meetings in the Zoom Workplace app
UI improvements on main screen
Fixed some crashes
We had updated the Zoom SDK but unfortunately that is causing some crashes right now so we're in the process of rolling it back. There was also an issue where a meeting nickname could get reset after rejoining. We're submitting a fix to Apple now.

Participant for Zoom 3.0
Happy to announce Participant for Zoom 3.0 is now available on the App Store. It is slowly rolling out to new users, but you can update from the App Store listing.
My Meetings
Recent Meetings are now My Meetings and you'll now be able to have a lot more of them, whereas previously you could only see 10. One thing you'll notice is the small ellipsis (…) button next to each meeting. Tapping this brings up a menu with options to join, share, or delete a meeting from the list. You'll also find some new features in there.
Tumblr media
Join in Zoom Workplace
Selecting this option will open the meeting URL directly in the Zoom app (if installed) or on the web. This can come in handy if you are having trouble joining a meeting in Participant for any reason.
Tumblr media
Pin
Have certain meetings that you are joining frequently? You can now pin those and they will remain at the top of the list.
Tumblr media
Edit Meeting
Edit a meeting allows you to add a custom nickname so it is easier to recognize in the list. You can also preemptively update a meeting passcode, if needed.
Tumblr media
Long pressing on any field gives you the option to copy its value. Long press on the passcode field for the option to reveal it if you need to confirm.
Tumblr media
Improved Join Experience
We've improved the meeting connection experience so you have a better idea of what is happening and you can cancel joining if you accidentally joined the wrong meeting. This fixes an issue that would occur where joining a meeting that hadn't started yet did not communicate that state well and didn't give you the choice to cancel.
Tumblr media
Other Things
Updated to latest Zoom SDK.
Fixed some crashes.
Activity indicator while authenticating with the SDK. No more tapping a recent meeting during authentication and wondering why it didn't start loading.
Controls disabled while connecting to a meeting. This prevents things from getting weird.
We hope you like the update. Send us your feedback on X/Twitter or Mastodon.

Pop Out Timer & Stopwatch 4.0
We're excited to release Pop Out Timer & Stopwatch version 4.0 today. This update is a long time in the making.
youtube
History
Pop Out Timer was the first novel use of picture-in-picture in the App Store, using PiP for information rather than watching videos. This update almost made it on the 6-year anniversary of its original release.
Back in 2020 we had big plans for a 4.0 release but got shut down by Apple. After months of back and forth a reaching out to a certain C-level employee we were reinstated and the floodgates opened for using picture-in-picture in this way. We ended up with a big release, but only 3.2. The whole thing killed a lot of our momentum.
4.0
But today we release 4.0, re-written from the ground up in SwiftUI. We made big under-the-hood changes that greatly improve performance and reliability. Gone are the days of waiting for "Creating Video". Everything is instant, more reliable, and even more accurate.
There are a few other features we want to mention, but the main thing is regaining momentum and laying a new foundation that we can build upon.
Tumblr media
Clock
You can now display the current time in the popped out window. This is great if you need to monitor the time but the status bar time is either too small or hidden by whichever app you're using.
Sizing
Perhaps the biggest request we've received is simply: I want to make the timer smaller. While iOS does impose limits on how small the window can go, you can now make it smaller than ever. This is especially notable (and needed) on iPhone where screen space is at a premium.
Laps
Laps now display in descending order. As they should.
Max Time
Timers can now be set up to 5 hours. Why 5 hours? Not sure, we'll probably increase this again.
Shortcuts
4.0 features more in-depth Shortcuts support. You can now trigger specific actions from within the app:
Configure Timer with custom duration
Pop Out or Pop In
Start or Pause
Switch Screen
Pricing Change
For an app to continue existing on the App Store, it needs to continue evolving as the platform evolves. To better enable us to keep Pop Out Timer up to date and continue adding new features, we've decided to make a pricing change. The app is now free to download with a 5 minute restriction on timers and stopwatches. This allows people to try it out and understand how it works before they commit to making a payment. Afterwards they can choose to remove all restrictions by either subscribing, to provide ongoing support, or by making a one-time purchase. Subs go for either $0.49/month or $3.99/year and a one-time purchase is $11.99.
If you've already purchased the app, no worries. It will automatically unlock everything. No need to subscribe or make any further purchases.
We hope you enjoy the update and are happy to hear any feedback by email or at @thinktapwork on Mastodon.

Morpho Converter 2.3 and 2.3.1
A little late to post this, but we released a couple of updates recently to Morpho Converter.
We've heard the complaints that by default there are too many decimal places. 2.3 includes the ability to set a custom number of decimal places from Settings > Decimal Places.
Tumblr media
Enable Customize Decimal Places to reveal the option to select the number of decimal places you would like to include in converted values.
Tumblr media
Please note that currencies will still use their own default number of decimal places (i.e., 2 for USD, 0 for Chilean Pesos, etc.).
We also fixed an issue on Apple Watch where returning to your list of conversions would not keep your place, and would instead scroll you back to the top.
In 2.3.1, we were able to fix some crashes that could occur when using Morpho from the Mac menu bar. Debugging this issue also caused us to encounter some performance issues with the way new windows were spawned; also now fixed.

Apple Vision Pro Impressions
Wanted to share brief impressions after a couple months with Apple Vision Pro:
No surprise, it's really good for video. Immersive video, when done well, is probably the most impressive. There isn't enough immersive video available.
Your comfort milage will vary. I honestly don't find it uncomfortable.
Everyone who has tried it takes to the pinch gesture and the tire UI paradigm within a couple minutes.
Not being able to drink coffee haha no but really. I would probably start a lot more work days in Vision Pro but I'm drinking coffee and that just doesn't work. By the time I'm done with my coffee I'm already deep into coding, troubleshooting, etc., and it feels like a pain to switch.
Underrated usage: watching NBA while doing dishes. I used to set up my iPad nearby which meant, tiny screen, outside my field of view, non-ideal audio, no ability to skip through timeouts because of wet hands. With Apple Vision Pro: huge screen right in front of me, great audio, easily skip timeouts without touching anything.
Underrated drinking vessel: shot glass. Fits right into the nose notch.
Underrated fun interaction: surround yourself with nearby windows. It's a lot of fun to interact by tapping through the UI.
I find I'm using Vision Pro frequently, both for video and work.
What makes it worth it for work, at least if you're using a MacBook display, is not just having a larger screen. I tend to quit certain apps on my Mac entirely if they can be run on Vision Pro: Messages, Mail, Slack all get quit and run on Vision Pro. That means I end up switching spaces less frequently and the larger screen size leaves me enough room to run Xcode + Simulator full screen for app development.
I feel Vision Pro's biggest obstacle for my attention is that it is not casual in the sense that you have to really intend to use it; you don't just throw it on. It's a production to turn it on, wait for it to boot, take off your glasses, put it on, start up my apps, connect to my Mac, and then finally get started.

Updated Instructions for Apple Pay Transaction Conversions
It seems that Apple has introduced some bugs into Shortcuts with a recent release of iOS 17. One bug makes it impossible to select the Amount value from the Transaction Shortcut Input.
Fortunately, we can work around this by creating a Set Variable action that takes the Shortcut Input and allows us to properly select Amount.
You can find the updated instructions on the original post: Automatically Convert Apple Pay Transactions with Morpho Converter
