I had - couple questions about the dragon fucker series. This takes place in this world but dragons were in secret right? Is there much of the population left when they took over? Or was it that a lot of people died and then they took over. Are humans out and about but have dragon overlords ?

So basically the dragons can shapeshift, which is how they were able to survive when they were hunted to near-extinction (I'm talking only a few dozen dragons left) by humanity. In the near future (early/mid 21st century) a plague comes along that cripples humanity and has an incredibly high death toll I CAME UP WITH THIS IDEA IN 2018 I SWEAR!!! and because humanity is in shambles and the governments are in disarray, the dragons see their opportunity to rise up and take over.

So when the story begins, we are post-violent dragon/human war where the dragons won and now rule the world divided into "territories" each ruled by a dragon in a dictator/monarchist society. Different dragons like to rule differently, so how much freedom and comfort you have as a human now depends on which dragon is in charge of where you live. North America is now called "The Scorched Lands" because it was literally set aflame in the war and so much of it is now struggling to recover from that.

Dragons are currently trying to rebuild their numbers since they were on the brink of extinction but are struggling with infertility. Humanity is definitely WAY lower in population but still for sure outnumber dragons.

In a lot of ways things have gone "back in time" in this post-war world because a huge amount of infrastructure was destroyed. Into the Badlands gives you a good idea of what to picture visually for the current state of society and the level of technology we're looking at. There's no cell towers, no internet, most people don't have electricity, and what your world looks like can vary deeply from one territory to another. Petty and Juniper come from what was once New England and grew up in a ruined city, while Kai and Sol live in an area that's basically in the Middle Ages. Humans under Corvan are pretty fucking miserable, humans under Obsidian do rather well and her 'wives' are doing REALLY well if you're into mommy doms wait who said that. So there's a lot of variety.

On the one hand, deciding to do a herringbone pattern probably increased the floor renovation project time by 4-5 hours. On the other hand, my library floor is going to look bomb as hell (just as soon as I run to Home Depot for more flooring because I ran out 😬). We’ll do black grout in here as well. And once the floor is done…I can start building bookshelves 🎉🎉🎉
