I won the 2004 Hugo Award for Best Short Story for an H. P. Lovecraft /Arthur Conan Doyle mashup fiction, so fanfiction had better be legitimate, because I'm not giving the Hugo back.

Or the 20O5 Locus Award for Best Novelette. I'm not giving that back either.

up in my room and our slates are clean : taylor’s room starts as a very childish place, and somewhere she goes to fantasize about love. it then becomes the only private place she has between her and her lover, it becomes a sanctuary.

Stop using the passive voice. Say what will actually happen. Landlords will increase rent — a voluntary action, not a natural result. The fun thing about voluntary actions is that they can be legislated against. What IS a natural result is that when landlords raise rent, their tenants’ wages automatically devalue. Again, the solution here is to stop the voluntary choice from being a choice at all.

Landlords choosing to increase rent is the problem, not a natural result of the solution.

the cultural shift of how we all perceive tumblr fascinates me so much. it went from ‘home where all my best friends hang out’ to ‘horrible awful hellsite i hate it so much’ to ‘mess that’s shoddily taped together yet somehow the most bearable social network left’

I got to marry my wife, and our pupper was our flower girl. 2.5 years ago this wasn’t possible, as it wasn’t legal in Australia. It rained our whole wedding day, but was so worth it in the end with our phenomenal photographer.
