I assume it gets better later on and the author is just forcing the premise a little bit in the first few chapters because it's so inconsistent not just from one chapter to the next, but from one page to the next, like

Her: "my family is rich, we'll give you tons of money if you release me"

Him: "I can't trust you on that"

Her: "fair enough then marry me and you'll never have to worry about money again"

Him, deciding that that's a more trustworthy promise than a reward, for some reason: "👍"

And then on the literal next chapter he's like "ok so we're getting married, right?" and she's like "Wtf????? He wants to get married????! Wtf is he thinking????! Is he crazy??!!" like girl you literally suggested this. It was your idea. Why are you acting like it was him who came up with it.

I need to check a different source in case it's translation issues
