Hello I'm just curious, but how can we be sure that the money is really going to doctors without borders?

Once the zine production has begun we will start giving updates about how our physical merch is going. During that time we will make our donation to Doctors Without Borders once we have calculated how much we have to give.

Essentially, the "profit" of this zine is the donation money. So how much we are able to donate is dependent on how many people order a zine. That is why our PDF version is also paid for, that gives us extra money to donate to the charity.

We will also make an announcement of how much was raised for Doctors Without Borders, alongside a screenshot of the confirmation email that our money was sent to them. We will be as transparent as possible when it comes to how we are handling the money this zine creates.

Hi there! I was wondering if for the merch artist portfolio, can I just use past merch artworks/examples specifically? Since most of my merch artwork doesn't include a background would it be ok to still submit it an entire portfolio without a background piece or is it just preferred for all artists submissions to have one? Thanks!

That would be perfect for a merch portfolio! The background is moreso for the people applying for page artists!

Is it all right if my portfolio has more than 6 pieces of art? It was very difficult for me to choose the ¨best¨ of all my art portfolio (mostly between old and new art)

Also, can we use any headcanons if we draw any character of the TFRBA universe? For example: I hc Chief as bigender and Dani as Butch, I tend to draw them with small changes compared to their canon designs.

If not, is all right, I just want to know.

That is all perfectly fine! We use 3-6 as an estimate to get a good variety, but as long as it doesn't go over 10 pieces the mod team won't really care.

And yes! Headcanons and fan designs are accepted for this zine, as long as people can still tell which character is which!

Hello i have a question about submissions/protfolio… I am wondering how many images need to be within the protfolio and if there needs to be backgrounds in each? I am new to transformers and also never done a zine before so I apologize if these are answered somewhere

We are typically looking for 4-6 pieces in each artwork portfolio! You do not need to have each piece have backgrounds, but atleast one would needed so we know you can do backgrounds!

Realized I had more questions lol

For the writing portfolio, would you like the entire fic? Or just sections? I have some pretty lengthy works, and I only want to send as many words as you are willing to read.

How canon-compliant do fics for the zine need to be?

If you have a long fic, just a section of your best work is perfectly fine to send in with your portfolio!

As for canon compliance, as long as it remains in the Aligned universe and features Rescue Bots characters that is fine! The two fics from the Volume 1 release were both canon divergent in some way

Yo! Thinking about applying to be a writer. What is the minimum and maximum word count for the finished fics for the zine?

All fanfics will be limited to under 1500 words. Since this is a physical zine, each page added on is an additional cost to us and people who buy the zine.

QnA for Volume 2

Are there any requirements for signing up as an artist? 

Basic requirements are ability to create a full piece with colored background, no AI art, and all contributors must be above the age of 16

If acrylic key charms are selected fir merch, will contributors be allowed to design them? 

Merch contributors will be allowed to create merch, while page artists will be limited to only creating art for the physical zine

Could a vol1 reprint be a possibility?

No, a Volume 1 print at this time will not be possible. It started as a PDF zine and has remained one ever since. In the future we may print it for a charity, but currently it will stay as a PDF.

How many artists will be allowed to participate?

We are looking at 25 page artists currently, with 5-7 merch artists. The merch will have a first come first serve policy on what type of merch people can create

Will artists filling out an application have to have previous work specifically of rescue bots, or is general tf artwork ok

General Transformers art is acceptable, however we would love to see your Rescue Bots art as well

What is the deadline for submission?

Deadline for pieces will be September 20th

Hypothetically if there were physical copies, could this ship internationally?

Yes! There will be extra costs for shipping, but we are planning on international shipping

Is there currently a date being planned for when applications would open?

April 8th

If there are a lot of people doing art/fics for certain characters, will there be a 'cutoff' of sorts so that way more content will be created to focus on other characters? 

We may explore this possibility, as during your application you will give us 3 different pitch ideas. We will from there assign those to the accepted artists so that we can plan on having a wide arrange of characters

Do all art/fics have to include all characters and if not, is there a minimum for how many should be included?"

You are allowed to choose as many characters as you like for submissions. Whether it is 1 character or all, that is up to you

What's the likelihood of this zine becoming something?

Very likely! We will be ordering zines and merch based off of preorders, which will happen during the production period from August to December. We do not have a set date as we will need to get pricing and the shop set up, but we will announce those dates as we get closer to the preorder dates
