“Ohh, yeah!” Larry started, plastering a solid, genuine grin on his face. “Of course she was, dude! Why else would I date her?!” he said, “Dude, Cindy was an angel.” He could and would say that about most of the girls he’s dated, though. “She always remembered what kind of coffee I liked and she’d compliment my art all the time…” 

Larry tilted his head in thought, trying to remember little things about her. It was hard without the reminders of her presence. A soft frown soon found his face and when he started to speak again, his voice was a decent measure quieter. “She used to do this thing where she’d start laughing at something I said and, when I asked her what was funny, she’d end up laughing so hard she’d snort… Then, she’d get really embarrassed about it…”

He went silent, brushed a hand from the side of his head to the back, and sighed. “…Aw, man, I miss her. I hope she’s doin’ alright in the afterlife…”

Her knees were shaking and she was clinging to a cabinet door for her life, and, despite her best efforts, she still couldn’t reach what she wanted.

She took a deep breath and held it, shutting her eyes tight. “I can do it! I don’t need your help!!” she yelled, “I’m not scared and I can reach it!” Even though she said that, she didn’t budge. “I’m not scared!!”
