As I spent my time with Fadi and experiencing theater class for the first time I can say I enjoyed it more than I thought. I learned so much about theater and its depth that I started to look at theater from a different perspective. I learned about various things, starting from the six pillars which are Plot, character, thought, diction, music, spectacle, each having an important part in theater. We also discussed what our favorite play was and posted it on our blogs. I talked about my favorite song which was tattoos by sade. It was very enjoyable. We watched a short film called boa which was about how an aging Chinese mother, feeling alone when her child moves out, gets a second chance at motherhood when one of her dumplings comes to life. The movie barely has any dialogue. Nobody speaks but you can see the way the mother interacts with her dumpling and her facial expression you can see the story overall. This correlates with the topic of parts of film we talked about in class. Overall I can say this class has taught me many things about theater. The teacher is phenomenal and cares about his students, the classroom felt like a community and it was so enjoyable. I will miss this class dearly and don’t regret taking it!

Elements of drama
To produce interesting stories on stage or film, drama requires a combination of fundamental ingredients. Characters drive the plot and interact with one another; a setting that serves as the backdrop for the story's events; a plot or storyline that unfolds over time; conflict, which creates tension and propels the narrative forward; and dialogue, which allows characters to communicate their thoughts, feelings, and motivations. Drama frequently incorporates themes and emotions to engage audiences on a deeper level, making it a strong and fascinating type of narrative that explores the human experience.

Differences and similarities between theatre and film:
We can state many differences between film and theater, for one the major difference is that film is recorded while in the theater, you see it live right in front of you. But as we dive deep into the topic of differences you can see with film every actor's move and action is recorded to perfection so that the audience can see and understand. But with theater actors have to move their whole bodies in order for the audience can truly understand what emit they are feeling. Actors perform live in front of an audience in the theatre, and the performance is seamless. The action is captured and edited in film, allowing for several takes and different camera viewpoints. For its settings, theatre relies on the audience's imagination, whereas film can use genuine locales and visual effects. Despite these distinctions, both aim to communicate tales, engage emotions, and bring the narrative to life by involving actors, directors, and artists.

What are critics?
As we all know critics play a huge part when it comes to movies and plays. Critics can be anybody if you want to talk about realistically, you can be a critic, i can be a critic, some 80 year old women can be a critic. Critics are people who review and comment on many types of art, such as movies, novels, music, theater, and so on. They investigate and evaluate the works' quality, significance, and impact, and provide reviews or critiques. Critics frequently write or speak on what they like and dislike about art, as well as its virtues and shortcomings and cultural or artistic value. Their reviews have the potential to impact public opinion and assist individuals in deciding what to watch, read, or experience. Critics might be professional journalists, writers, or simply amateurs who express their opinions on blogs, newspapers, magazines, and other kinds of media.

What is Theatre? what is drama? what is “suspension of disbelief.”
For starters theatre is what most think of is a live action play you get to see in person. It's similar to a play in which performers act, sing, and tell stories to entertain and engage the audience. It might be large, such as Broadway plays, or tiny, such as local shows. Theatrical expression of ideas and emotions through acting and storytelling has been around for a long time. It's a unique opportunity for people to gather and partake in the experience of a performance.
Drama is one of the many genres that makes theatre... theatre. It's captivating, can have people on their toes waiting and wanting more. It makes the audience cry, laugh, and creates deep connections to a character/actor. For instance when a character dies people tend to feel sad that their favorite character is no longer in the drama.
In theatre, suspension of disbelief means that the audience agrees to believe the made-up world on stage even when they know it isn't real. They do this in order to enjoy the play and connect with the characters and tale, even if it is all a sham. It's like agreeing to play along with the actors for a bit to make the show more entertaining and interesting.

The parts of film
The elements of a film or play is conducted into six parts, One being the plot. The plot is what makes a story, what grabs the audience's attention. The plot can be presented in a trailer or a teaser. The plot is the foundation of the other five elements. The second element is character, we first got the plot down now we need a character to fit the story line, an actor to act out the plot. We can have a plot but a plot needs a character. The main character has to show elements that can make the audience love OR hate them. This is where the third element “thought” comes from. Thought is basically the theme or central idea of  a film or a play. What did we learn from this? Diction is another part that plays within film and theater. Diction is the word choices and sentence structure. Like if a film is comedic the diction will be informal and will most likely have curse words to give that comedic relief. The soundtrack and songs do play an important role in a film. If a plate breaks the audience needs to hear the plate shattering on the floor. If a woman cries the audience needs to hear how hurt the woman is so we can understand how she feels. Lastly the visuals, The visuals of a movie is what catches the audience's attention most of all. Especially in the short movie called bao.
Bao is a short film about how an aging Chinese mother, feeling alone when her child moves out, gets a second chance at motherhood when one of her dumplings comes to life. The movie barely has any dialogue. Nobody speaks but you can see the way the mother interacts with her dumpling and her facial expression you can see the story overall. The only time we get to hear anything from her is towards the end when she eats the dumpling out of rage, symbolizing how her son left her after getting engaged to his fiance. Hearing a mother’s cry really touched me as an audience. It made me want to go call my mother right now and tell her how much I love her. That was the importance of sound in this movie.
I highly recommend watching it if you want to leave with a sentimental feeling:

My favorite song
I understand that this is not a drama, yet it contains dramatic components. I'd want to talk about my all-time favorite song, which is both beautiful and profound. Sade's "Like a Tattoo" expresses a wide range of emotions. First and foremost, she composed this song about a man she met in a pub who had served in the Vietnam War. In this song, she describes how the man she was speaking with was a Vietnam combat veteran who was giving her combat experiences. The song mentions a grave tone as he narrates his memories, indicating his sorrow and shame over committing a war crime. Throughout the song, we discover that he shot a man who had his hands up in surrender—an act that a major woman in the victim's life may have observed. Despite the soldier's heinous crime, the soldier's regret is only conceivable because of the empathy in his heart; his love for humanity. He'll get a tattoo of his regret.
