The Wormhole - Timelapse 4K from Michael Shainblum on Vimeo.
"WARNING: This video may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised."
I am proud to share my latest abstract mirror timelapse video “The Wormhole”. I knew after creating Mirror city (vimeo.com/70573323) I wanted to keep exploring the idea of kaleidoscopic imagery in timelapse. This time I wanted to expand upon the idea, creating scenes that feel like new worlds in alternate universes. I utilized camera techniques such as hyperlapse and aerial video to further showcase the surrealism in the video. Cities showcased in this video are Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York City, Dubai, Doha, Singapore, Shanghai. I really hope you enjoy the video!

Head Instructor from thomas medicus on Vimeo.
HEAD INSTRUCTOR is an anamorphic sculpture made of 144 hand-painted glass strips. The piece is placed on a rotating platform through which four fragmented images assemble every 90° turn. The glass strips are stuck into a wooden base with laser cut slits. All fragments of the images were painted separately on each strip with the same colors used for traditional stained glass windows. The rotating top part of the piece is 61*74*61 cm.

Splendor from Joe Takayama on Vimeo.
“Splendor” is an algorithmic computer animation piece featuring geometrical patterns found in Japanese traditional crafts. This work specifically focused on Kiriko (切子: Japanese cut glass) and Kumiko (組子: Japanese wooden lattice work). Both are characterized by intricate geometrical patterns by expert craftsmanship. I attempted to simulate those traditional patterns using a method called L-system which is mainly used for simulating the growth of plants in the field of CGI. Houdini, Redshift, and After Effects were used in this work.

Spring from Jamie Scott on Vimeo.
This is a companion piece to my Fall time-lapse from a few years ago. I wanted it to be the polar opposite of the first one. Not just the Fall vs Spring. But wide shots vs close ups, everything in focus vs shallow depth of field, very cuty vs one shot, contemporary music vs classical, static camera vs moving camera.
I shot on a Canon 5D MK2 with a 24mm prime lens. To achieve the continuous motion I used the Dynamic Perception Stage One Slider.
All in all this took 3 years to shoot. I shot over 8TB of 5k footage. It's finished in 4k.

wh0wh0 - bamb00 from Ksawery komputery on Vimeo.
this video is a live screen capture of a Processing sketch, without any cuts and montage. Every play, the project generates a different 60fps video with random perspectives and randomly moving elements (based on midi notes and sound), but with pre-scheduled scenes setups.

a track taken from the debut wh0wh0 album (LP / CD / Digital)
pre-order LP / CD / Digital on Bandcamp: http://bit.ly/wh0wh0
stream: ffm.to/bamb00
-----------------------------------------
wh0wh0 is a solo moniker of the drummer Jacek Prościński. It’s his unique experiment aimed at taking on the intensity and precision of electronic music. To face it live, he uses a self-made electro-acoustic drum kit. It is the fulfilment of a deeply rooted dream to create and perform independently as a solo drummer. Channelling the musician’s curiosity and testing his ability. Exceeding limitations imposed by traditional drumming. Exploring the possibilities of both the instrument and the artist.
Jacek Prościński has been an active musician for years – co-creating LLovage together with Olo Walicki, Mu with Tymon Tymański as well as the LASY and Hałvva duos. He plays in Tobiasz Biliński’s band Perfect Son and was a member of the now-defunct delay_ok. Most importantly, since 2019 he has been intensively developing his solo project wh0wh0, perfecting his individual drumming style.
The record features 8 tracks, all being the result of meticulous exploration and experimentation that show off a wide spectrum of music, not only electronic. The tunes may remind you of creations of different artists – at one moment they sound euphoric like Hudson Mohawke or TNGHT, only to surprise you with calm repetitive passages a bit later, bringing to mind the works of Steve Reich. Influences range from footwork, trap, hip-hop, through techno, ambient and math rock, to electronic deconstruction and avant-garde. This album contains a broad range of structures – from abstract to almost song-like.

Behind the Scenes - vimeo.com/146771415
For my second aerial film, entitled ‘Wild Scotland’, I wanted to showcase some of the wilderness this magnificent country has to offer. From the Highlands and Islands on the west coast to John O’Groats and North Berwick on the east I’ve captured just a fraction of the stunning wilderness which Scotland has to offer.
I’ve spent the last few months travelling up and down the country capturing locations, carefully planning my schedule to take advantage of the best light, be that dawn or dusk. Along the way I’ve been lucky to pick up some unexpected shots such as deer near Ardnamurchan and a large group of seals in a bay near John O’ Groats at the very top of the British mainland. I was lucky to experience a prolonged spell of good weather so filming this was a much faster process than for my first aerial film; Beautiful Scotland - vimeo.com/100426447
Making this film involved a series of mini adventures. Hiking up Bidein a'Ghlas Thuill at 3am in the pitch dark, to film the spectacular serrated ridge of An Teallach, and hearing stags roaring in the valleys below is a memory that will stay with me for a very long time. Also filming Bass Rock near North Berwick, which is home is to the world’s largest single rock Gannet colony with some 40,000 pairs of birds, at first light was a real treat.
The film was mostly shot on the DJI Inspire 1 and for the more remote locations I used the DJI Phantom 3 which can be packed in a backpack really easily.
Big shout out to Drew Gibson who has done another magnificent job colour grading this and also to Pete Smith (thesoundspace.co.uk/) who created the sound mix. Cheers also to Rob Waugh (facebook.com/curiousrobinfilms) for feeding back throughout the edit and helping suggest locations.
