Photo

Long before the introduction of color film, a Russian chemist and photographer named Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky used an innovative technique. He took three individual black and white photos, each through a colored filter (red, green, and blue), to create fully colored, high-quality pictures. The photo of this woman, taken by him, is around 107 years old!

if Robb had lived to find out Bran and Rickon were never killed do you think he still would’ve had it in him to executed Theon?
robb as a character is fundamentally trying to be ned, and in so doing he sometimes makes decisions that ned would not make, or becomes a flanderized version of what people thought ned to be in life. robb's interpretation of ned is a person who sacrifices everything for duty. but ned's great secret--especially the secret of jon's parentage--comes from the fact that ned sacrifices his duty (to robert) and his honor (as a faithful man) for love. so robb often makes decisions opposite to what his father might have done, while believing that he is doing what ned would do. ned is a contradictory character because he sacrifices his own honor for love twice (claiming jon as his bastard, and confessing to treason to save sansa), but every other time when it counts he truly does worship at the altars of duty and honor. robb is the "final conclusion" of ned; while ned sacrifices his duty to robert for sansa, robb refuses to do this, choosing to continue the war despite catelyn asking him to send terms of peace to the lannisters through a hostage exchange for sansa.
there was a meta post i read a while back about how ned would at the end of the day be willing to kill theon because he didn't allow himself to love theon in the same way that he loved jon or his own children. he killed gared; he killed lady; he would be able to kill theon as well. this is not, in other words, a jon arryn leading an uprising after being asked to kill his wards robert and ned situation.
so if even ned would be willing to kill theon despite whatever love he might have gained for theon over the years, i think there's unfortunately no situation where robb wouldn't execute theon. he would want to keep him alive as a hostage, but as soon as he starts psyching himself out by asking 'what would ned do' it's so over

If Hector Robinson was marrying any other girl in the land, I'd say she was a lucky woman. But you… He's entirely unworthy of you. You're sensational. But Hector's a perfectly agreeable man, handsome and with prospects, so Mrs. Robinson will live an entirely pleasant life... I believe your settling for anything less than exceptional would be an extraordinary waste.

Trying to understand why moralising Christian novels have gotten shittier to the point they're basically unreadable (and yes I know they were always kind of bad) and I've realized it's because now they're scared to portray evil and immorality as blatantly sexy and pleasurable which like?????
Ofc it is???? Like if u have w world view where some things are bad and you shouldn't be doing them on pain of BURNING IN HELL then um they'd have to result in some pretty amazing sensations or feelings for you to want to do them in the first place.
And idk i feel like older novels ( like early 20th-19th century novels) were better with portraying that vs modern novels which just state someone is bad. And that they do bad stuff. And just leave it at that.

Body horror is when there's a body with some horror. Elevated horror is when there's an elevator and some horror. Folk horror is when there's folks and, anyway you get the idea.
#that devil elevator movie terrified me so bad i couldnt get on elevators in peace for a few months in 2020#until i started seeing tiktok elevator boy content and elevators became laughable to me

my dear friend just looked up from the hat she's crocheting for a very large spherical rock we found in the river and said, in a slightly haunted tone that revealed this was the first time she was having this thought, "i should make something for my cousin's real human baby"
