Theme 44 – Two Roads
I had something entirely different planned for this theme, but nostalgia pulled me back to Star Wars and Kingdom Hearts. I’ve always been fascinated by the parallels between Luke and Ezra: two heroes walking similar paths, having never even met. That’s the nature of parallels: they run side by side, never crossing. Then again, in stories, as in life, you never truly know where the road leads

Anyway, the New Mandalorians exist because the fucking ecosystem of the planet was destroyed due to the Mando's warmongering and civil wars. They're an anti war political party trying to resuscitate a dying planet. They turn to outright pacifism because their people were decimated by a recent! Civil war!
It's mad that so much of the fandom let's themselves get caught up in "oh but what about self defense, teehee" and "what happens if negotiation fails and you have to do whatever it takes to stay alive". She uses traditional warrior guards, clearly she isn't an absolute pacifist. But even ignoring the fact that some forms of pacifism allow for things such as self defense and even revolution, not to mention non violent tactics like disarming and de-escalation, it's missing the point of what the new mandalorians represent!
War kills people! War kills the environment! Glorifying violence and war makes people hungry for violence and war! That's the message that is being broadcasted to us by the show but people see this and go "b-but 🥺 my violence". Like ... Star Wars has always had anti-war themes helloooo is this thing on?
#*loud barking*#THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS#op you are SO right#pacifism is one of the most misinterpreted ideologies in most media but ESPECIALLY kids media#(looking at you ATLA fandom)#also op has said everything about how fandom tends to glorify violence and cultural violence for the ‘rule of cool’#when like. destroying our own planet because of our violence look this is CULTURE is. not culture! or not one that should be promoted!#but yeah also because my girl was mentioned#nobody wants to hear that actually satine kryze was probably one of the most interesting characters in the tcw show#and she made MANY good points#however she was kinda an unapologetically obnoxious asshole about it and a bit naïve to boot#and none of those traits are acceptable for female characters by fandom not now and especially not back then#and she wasn’t a warrior power fantasy either#so people turned up their noses#and her politics didn’t sell toys like the warrior mandos did#so disney erased her from existence in favor of her much more marketable girlboss sister#i thought they wrote her romance badly too you guys but come ON#peace out#my friend awoke me from my sw grave with this post

Dude the Jedi are literally one of THE most fascinating and inspiring good guys / heroes / protagonists I’ve seen in a story and so is their whole philosophy and their teachings. There’s so much depth and sense to them and what they do and why. You can literally learn such useful lessons through them, adult or child.
So I really don’t understand all this anti Jedi nonsense and this idea that we need to be super critical about them and blame them, because apparently the villains / antagonists deserve to be put on a pedestal and excused for everything they do (*cough* murder, genocide, slavery, etc.) because they sad at times with a at times sad backstory.
And the fact that even writers within Star Wars feel like that, instead of taking the Jedi as they are and have always been meant to be perceived as, is so saddening.
It doesn’t take long to take the time, especially as a writer, and look into the Jedi's origins and what GL wanted to tell with his story, especially in terms of evil and good and the concept of balance and being in control of yourself specifically your darkest and most negative characteristics and emotions.
And this whole idea of Jedi being arrogant just because they strive the be the best version of themselves is getting so annoying. Like come on, that’s just your envy and insecurities shining through.

Anakin had a mother, but no father. He was 9 YEARS OLD when he left to be trained by Obi Wan. I hope you don’t have any children in your life if you think that’s remotely okay. Obi Wan is a great queer coded character. But teacher/student relationship is extremely toxic if made to be romantic. Their trauma is familial, and bonded by Padme’s death, and Luke and Leia resembling Anakin/Padme as children. It'd be like getting ready to ship 10 year old Leia with Obi Wan. You're gross! <3

#lol emerging from my grave to laugh at this#if anon was ready to bitch about leia why don’t you let them know her age gap with han is one year more than the gap between kanan and ezra#age gaps are sexy

Jedi June 2025

A creative fandom event dedicated to appreciating the Jedi, taking place during the entire month of June! Each week will feature two prompts, around which people can create fanwork (of any kind – fic, art, cosplay, edits, anything you can think of) or meta focusing on the Jedi and the Jedi Order. All eras and continuities are welcome; OCs, established characters, doesn’t matter – it just needs to be about appreciating the Jedi!
Rules:
If you are participating, please tag your work/meta with #jedi june and/or @ this blog so that I will see it and reblog it here. All work must be your own. Feel free to crosspost it off-site.
This is an appreciation event, focusing on what we love and enjoy about the Jedi – not what we don’t. This is not the place to air your grievances with the Code, take potshots at the Council, prop certain Jedi/certain eras of Jedi up at the expense of others, or disparage the Jedi Order or their philosophy (including the concept of non-attachment) and way of life in any way. You are free to do that on your own time if that’s your thing, but it has no place within this event.
AUs and crossovers are allowed, with caveats: again, the purpose of this event is to appreciate the Jedi as Jedi, so sticking your favorite Jedi characters in something like a modern AU or making them all Sith or Mandalorian is not really within the spirit of this event. However, AUs such as making a non-Jedi character a Jedi, having a character survive their canon death, giving a character a different teacher or padawan, or killing Palpatine off-screen in an unspecified yet embarrassing and painful manner, would all be perfectly fine. Use your best judgement to determine whether an AU fits the spirit of the event or not.
On non-attachment: in a general sense, attachment refers to grasping, clinging, possessiveness, jealousy, and the "I can't live without you"/"I will burn down the galaxy before I risk losing you" attitude. See this post and this post for more information. A romance can certainly exist without these things, so you can certainly write Jedi in relationships for this event!
Please tag any spoilers up to two weeks after the relevant content has aired.
Following the prompts is encouraged, but not required. Any sort of pro-Jedi content is encouraged all year month long, and if tagged (and following the rules), will be reblogged.
We also have an AO3 collection!
Prompts:
Week 1 (June 1 - 7):
Prompt 1: Survive
Prompt 2: Thrive
Week 2 (June 8 - 14):
Prompt 1: Precognition
Prompt 2: Telekinesis
Week 3 (June 15 - 21):
Prompt 1: Community
Prompt 2: Symbiosis
Week 4 (June 22 - 30):
Prompt 1: Celebration
Prompt 2: Hope
Bonus (any time):
Prompt 1: Resisting Evil/The Dark Side/The Sith
Prompt 2: Light in the Darkness
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! I hope you will have fun participating!

Crawling out of my grave briefly to ask anyone whose radar I’m still on a question:
I’ve published a bunch, like a LOT, idek how many, little writing ficlets, tiny drabbles on here, in response to ask games or on other ppl’s posts or even in my own posts
Given that Tumblr will inevitably one day (whether it be next week or a decade from now) die, I really don’t want all my little stories to die, as tiny as they are, they were things I created and I’m fond of them
I’m wondering if it’s worth it to post each of them on my AO3.
Now, I don’t want to put them all in one work as individual chapters, that leads to those billion tag behemoths that mess up your search results and take five minutes to scroll past that everyone hates, I don’t want to be that guy
But what I’m thinking of, posting each and every tiny ficlet as its own thing, makes me nervous
This would be me potentially plopping like over 20 new entries—maybe more I genuinely have no clue how many are on here—into my AO3, which could lead to spamming anyone who still follows me with emails of me posting and possibly spamming the Star Wars tag with my shit, some of which isn’t more than a few hundred words
I’ve got social anxiety and one of my worst fears in the world is being perceived as annoying and like; I don’t want to bother people
But at the same time AO3 is an archive and I do want to have a place where I can keep all my stories up where other people can see them (having them all in one place like that also means I can print them out so I can always have them even if something happens to AO3 one day too I do not trust our new digital society)
So like, does anyone think this is a good idea? Or should I pursue other options?

#actuallyyyyyy this can go here too along with the tags#*inhales deeply*#not gonna lie y’all i went and saw rots in theatres for the 25th anniversary rerelease#and things started looking a lot more familiar than i would have liked#oh no look! the guy in charge keeps granting himself more and more power in the name of ‘security’#while anyone trying to raise an alarm is told ‘oh stop being dramatic he’s not doing anything he’s not allowed to do’#and when the dictator mask comes completely off all the legislators just clap and shrug like ‘welp not much else we can do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯’#and the smaller independent institution who relies on government funds and support tries to keep doing their job#and not immediately kneel to the new king. and then they get squashed like a bug#and the media goes ‘well they were wasteful ineffective and elitist anyway good riddance’#really the most unrealistic thing about the sw prequels is that it took sidious decades to start his dictatorship#we managed in like#less than 5#ugh look i don’t LIKE being one of those terminally online ppl who’s like ‘omG this is JUST LIKE MY FAVE YA NOVEL’#and anakin skywalker remains one of my very favorite characters i don’t LIKE comparing him#to elon’s DOGE squad of 20 somethings who marched into the treasury ripped apart the regulations and stole everyone’s social security info#but#*gestures frustratedly to the world outside*#sw prequels#irl politics

resurrecting this to say that one of my pettiest most meaningless pet peeves that nevertheless haunt me is that in the year of our lord 2025 i am sooooo tired of interacting with romance media (original or fanfic) where they’re trying to have the main couple bond over “nerdy interests” and there’s always always that part where they’re flirting like:
“Ok, so i GOTTA know,,,,, what is your favorite Star Wars movie—and you better not say the prequels 🤢😏😂”
“*gaaasps* oh i would NEVER teehee”
#leave us alooooone 😂#i feel like this is one of the only fandoms where you can reliably catch strays even when interacting with other media#AND ACTUALLY YOU AS THE WRITER EARN NEGATIVE POINTS IF YOU HAVE THE CHARACTER BE LIKE#‘well nothing of course is as perfect as ESB but rogue one was pretty good!’#(do not mistake me i loved rogue one it was great but also it is the most normie-friendly star wars)#(and i’ve become mildly gatekeepy when someone says it’s their favorite)#star wars#sw prequels#morai musings

A New Hope, by Hidetaka Tenjin.
“Various Star Wars iconography has been redesigned into a more Japanese style over the years, but personally I've always wondered what Star Wars: A New Hope would look like if it were reimagined as a Japanese period piece. With this idea in mind, I attempted to create a theatrical poster resembling that of an Akira Kurosawa jidaigeki film by referencing classic posters in order to capture the feel of that era.”

in fics where luke gets plopped into the prequels i want every jedi within ten metres of him to think hes the weirdest jedi theyve ever seen. he has negative lightsaber form. he doesnt know what a kata is. he handstands when he meditates. his solution to sith is to try and have a chat. hes a political radical who keeps suggesting revolution. you ask him what the jedi code is and he says "kindness and compassion and helping those in need :) ". you ask how he used the force like that and he says some shit about how you are a luminous being limited only by your mind. the councils authority is just a suggestion. he is somehow the new favourite of both qui gon and yoda
#op thanks for adding that yoda would LOVE luke in all iterations#dooku WHO yoda meets his apprentice he’s never even had yet and already has an all-time favorite#the jedi order#twin sun#little green man from outer space#sw prequels
