Celebrity tattoos
Celebrities also have there own personal tattoos that hold a special meaning to them. James Hetfield and Jason Mamoa both have their own stories of their tattoos share to the fans, and the rest of the world. i wanted to write about them because they both come from very different jobs, proving that you can be anyone and still have amazing tattoos with meaning.
Tumblr media
The left shoulder shows a composition of four playing cards that make up the date of his birth. The flames are associated with an incident that occurred during a performance at a concert in Montreal in 1992. The artist was captured by a twelve-foot flame during the performance of Fade to Black on this day. It symbolizes the call to rejoice at every moment in the life.
The tattoo on the chest of the singer is dedicated to the family and children. It unites the names Marcella, Tali and Castor around the prayer folded hands and the sacred cross. Children are always in his heart and he prays for them in the shower.
The tattoo at the bend of the James Hetfield’s left hand is the note of the song Orion. This composition sounded at the funeral of his friend Cliff Barton. It serves as a reminder of it.
Tumblr media
Momoa's most prominent tattoo, the rows of black triangles that grace his forearm, has an interesting backstory. In a Fresh TV interview, the Hawaiian actor said his bold ink is actually a nod to ʻaumakua, or his family god. In Hawaiian mythology, it's believed that the ʻaumakua is an ancestor who has died and come back in a different form to protect his or her family. Momoa's guardian just so happens to be a shark.
"It's supposed to take the darkness out and bring in the light," Momoa said of the tattoo, which represents shark's teeth, "but we're still working on that."The symbolic tattoo is also supposed to protect Momoa when he enters the water. Specifically, sharks should be able to realize that he is one of their own and leave him alone.

tattoo identities
identityʌɪˈdɛntɪti/
noun
1.the fact of being who or what a person or thing is."He knows the identity of the bombers" synonyms: name;
Tattoos are culturally rich forms of self-expression and fulfillment, and hold power for their owners, both internally and externally. The purpose of this study is to examine the ways, and the reasons, tattoos are important Body Documents of identity, as well as their perceived role in making their wearer distinct within specific cultural environments. Tattoos are powerful identity markers because of their social projections and meanings in the greater social formation. The power of tattoos lays in their oppositional nature to the status quo, and the ability of people with tattoos to use them as tools for contesting existing power structures and accepted body ideologies.
Tattoos have been and are still a big part of many to this day, and many people have one or more tattoos on their bodies. Many different cultures embrace tattoos, and they can bear many different meanings. In fact, it is quite easy sometimes to spot a person from a certain culture just because of the design of their tattoo or where their tattoos are placed on their body. Tattoos have a rich history, and in this article, we are going to take a closer look at how tattoos are viewed in different cultures and just how significant they can be.
The Maori tattoos are some of the most famous designs in the world. From rugby players to regular people, many people from New Zealand have one or more tribal tattoos. These tattoos are called the “Ta Moko” and are drawn on the face for men and on the lips, nostrils, and chin for women. Some people in contemporary culture prefer to have their tattoos drawn on their arms, shoulders, as well as their chest.

My tattooed body
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i chose to tattoo the left side of my body in tattoos that mean something to me. showing people that tattoos are beautiful has been a real passion of mine, because i am aspiring to be a tattooist. i love the honour of having my artwork on other peoples bodies and, seeing that they love what i have brought back to them as ink on their bodies, gives me a sense of achievement.
My tattoos show every little part of past experiences and meaning to my work. they make me happy and full of pride as the emotion of my pictures show how i’m not scared to show them off. i love my body, tattoos and all, as they show my personality and the comfort i feel in my skin.

tattoo stories
I have decided to share some amazing experiences with tattoos at how they have changed peoples lives or share their own story in which they wanted the world to see.
Tumblr media
"I got this after a really REALLY, really bad breakup. I needed to cover up a silly tattoo we had gotten together (yup, learned my lesson) and decided to do so with a diamond because they are unbreakable. It's a nice reminder that if I was able to live through that and come out strong, I will be fine, no matter what." —Conz Preti
Tumblr media
"Done by Matt over at Invisible Ink, this is a depiction of the Greek myth of Apollo and Daphne. Apollo gets himself in trouble with Cupid, who has him fall madly in love with Daphne but also has her want nothing to do with him. Apollo chases and chases Daphne until she's finally fed up and tired of running. She asks her father (a god) for an out — he turns her into a beautiful laurel tree. Despite being a tree and never returning the feelings, Apollo continues to visit her every day and sing her songs of love on his lyre. It's a classic story of the unrequited. I should probably also mention my first girlfriend's name is Daphne. That might have something to do with my fascination as well." —Natasia Hanratty
Tumblr media
"My grandparents had their own Polish radio talk show over in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, for many years. They both won awards for their hard work, and this microphone was on most of the plaques my family grew up seeing. My brother Tommy and I had planned on getting matching tattoos of the microphone in their honor. When he passed away, I got it in his memory along with theirs. Below it, I added his signature." —Natasia Hanratty
these stories are inspiring and heartfelt, and I think it is amazing that people decided to honor their stories by inking them on their bodies.

After years of hanging on to their solid reputation of being the ‘worst’ hotel in the world, the Hans Brinker Budget Hotel is now trying to become the most ‘likeable’ hotel in the world. The Hans Brinker found out that being a savage budget hotel is no reason for people not to like them. So, the hotel is doing its absolute best to become as likeable as they possibly can. “How,” you ask? By asking people to come and like its improbably awful food, service and door guy… and marvel at how its toilets flush (or don’t). Together with some artwork of Anthony Burrill, what’s not to like?
The hotel uses the art work to promote the hotel in a over exaggerated optimistic view on the obviously badly kept hotel, with the awful rooms and the horrible service. they do this to get people to see how bad it truly is because people are curious so they will get the publicity anyway. people are attracted to negativity because it is human nature to be curious at people’s misfortunes.
the first image is of the after effects of staying at the Hans Brinker Hotel, shown that if you stay there it is a changing experience, but you would have to see for yourself. the truth behind it is obviously not being beaten in the night, its merely to show a changing experience, it doesn't have to be good or bad.

tattoos as identity 2
tattoos have always been a big part of my life, as i have grown up with them being accepted and loved. my parent always bought me tattoo books of how to draw them with different designs from different artists. it is a really big interest of mine to become a really good tattooist and help people feel their identity.
all tattoos keep a memory or special time in their lives for them to look back on and with this project i hope to show that with decorating my body in tattoos that mean something to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i am going to attempt to draw tattoos on my body showing that people shouldn't be afraid to show their story with drawings on their body. they cant be so elegant and beautiful, yet manly and scary too.

tattoos as identity
everyone who gets a tattoo says it means something to them, or they love the look of it on their body. However not all tattoos hold happy memories, one example would be the jewish inmates in the concentration camps around the Germany.
Incoming prisoners were assigned a camp serial number which was sewn to their prison uniforms. Only those prisoners selected for work were issued serial numbers; those prisoners sent directly to the gas chambers were not registered and received no tattoos.
Tumblr media
Originally, a special metal stamp, holding interchangeable numbers made up of needles approximately one centimeter long was used. This allowed the whole serial number to be punched at one blow onto the prisoner's left upper chest. Ink was then rubbed into the bleeding wound.
When the metal stamp method proved impractical, a single-needle device was introduced, which pierced the outlines of the serial-number digits onto the skin. The site of the tattoo was changed to the outer side of the left forearm. However, prisoners from several transports in 1943 had their numbers tattooed on the inner side of their left upper forearms. Tattooing was generally performed during registration when each prisoner was assigned a camp serial number. Since prisoners sent directly to the gas chambers were never issued numbers, they were never tattooed.

Dear Straight People
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5frn8TAlew0
this video is of one of my biggest inspirations for my work. Denice Frohman is a poet and i have been looking at all of her works. this poem is really close to me as being a bisexual female, i understand how its feels when you just want to hold your girlfriends hand but you feel as if the whole world is against you.
to those people we just have to say, “you know you are the only person that is bothered by this right?”
she bring such passion into her words and i can really feel how much she loves telling people that its ok and we should be judged for who we love. this ties into identity because our hearts, and love, fall into a very big category of who we are. ill be posting my own poems for this project as i really want to have my own voice be heard for this. =^.^=

Cindy Sherman is an American photographer of portraits. She always takes pictures of herself, but she is always in disguise as someone else. It would be really hard to find a picture of her true self because she didn't like her true image
