trigger warnings: graphic descriptions of injuries, death, post traumatic stress disorder and anxiety and depression

Markus

Markus was another camper-turned-counselor who attempted to stop the situation from escalating further after Katelyn explained to him that the troublemaker of the camp had stolen from her. He didn't do anything, however was stopped by Elizabeth whom showed up to stop the bullies from burning Judith's arm, only to get punched later.
As he confronted Barbara, he noticed the smell of drugs coming from her where he claimed he hoped it was the smell of skunk but was stopped once she asked about her sister.
Inside the mess hall cabin, he hyped up his campers and ordered them to "murder those Horizon Hornets". Later that night, he and Sheila began having sex together, later leaving the room unaware that Jason Baker/The Redwing Slasher was close. He was left deceased and harmed as he never left Camp Redwing due to a blow to the torso, knocking his insides fell outside, staining the white shower he was in when he died.

Kurt

Kurt is seen as a camper who hangs around with Katelyn and her friends. He is the one to cause Judith to fall and hit the ground as she had tripped over his leg. He watches on as Katelyn taunts her. He proceeds to also watched as Elizabeth accidentally punched Judith in the nose, who was initially aiming for Katelyn. He is in agreement with the other girls when Katelyn demands the lighter, something he refuses to hand over as it is now going too far but ends up doing so where he watches on as Judith's arm is almost burnt only for the situation to be stopped with the arrival of Elizabeth and later Barbara.
Kurt tries explaining what happened only for him to yelled at by Barbara who forces them to let the female go. When questioning if anyone saw Judith running from the cabin after an incident involving an undisclosed item, Will vouches for the rest of the group and confirms It's true to which causes Judith to fear she may be done at the camp. Will also witnesses as Elizabeth goes to threaten Katelyn after she attempts to punch her, only to hit Judith in the process. He is also most likely a survivor as he was not seen again suggesting that he was part of the campers and other unnamed counselors who escaped on the bus.

Chapter Four: Bitterblue
warnings: graphic horror violence, smut, strong language throughout, murder, panic attacks
summary: barbara decides on doing it with joe out of anger as they later get trapped together in a supply cabin.
(a/n: to know about the relationship between the Miller sisters, please read Barbara's biography here as well as Liz's here.)
Barbara stepped out the door and onto the wooden steps. She was also pissed off from the stressing situation from earlier involving Pamela.
"You're okay. Just breathe." She told herself quietly, trying to calm her pinched nerves.
She reaches the bottom on the cabin stairs, staying silent for a few seconds.
“Miller!” A voice called.
William appeared in front of her, glaring at the older Miller sister. Barbara knew this was about Katherine and that she was definitely in trouble with her as she startled from his sudden appearance.
“Where have you been? I’ve been looking all over. Your sister—” William stops as he begins sniffing the air around her. “Barbara Miller, that smell better be skunk.”
She rolled her eyes, sighing in utter annoyance.
“What about my sister?” She asked.
Without hesitation, Barbara walked to Nurse Carter’s cabin, trying to figure out the right words to say to her younger sister. Finally making it into the cabin, she opened the door to find Elizabeth sitting on one of the medical beds, Nurse Carter across from her. They both looked at Barbara.
“Hi, Nurse Carter.” Barbara greeted, sweetly as if she weren’t pissed off.
“Hi, Barbarar.”
The fire haired female rose, standing up from the bed, looking toward her sister, almost afraid.
“Elizabeth,” Barbara said in a tense tone.
Trailing behind the other female, Barbara tries mustering up the right words to say as the Miller sisters exit the cabin, and step down the few stairs outside. She grabs her sister's shoulder, making her turn to face her as Elizabeth rolls her eyes.
"Why are you in the nurse's cabin? What did you do?"
"I-- nothing,"
"Liz,"
"I was the one who punched Judith, okay? I was aiming for Sheila and accidentally hit her instead."
"Do you realize what would happen if you got kicked out of camp? Or worse -- getting in legal trouble if Judith does decide to press charges. You could go to jail. You hear me?"
"Loud and clear, ma'am."
"I'm serious,"
They keep walking and stay silent for a moment before Elizabeth breaks the now awkward silence. "Leave me alone."
"No. If you get kicked out, I do too. Mom can’t work and take care of us. Or Dad, who is god knows where at this point."
Elizabeth scoffs and rolls her eyes once more. Angry, apart of Barbara wanted her sister's eyes to get stuck, but the other part didn't want to think about her sister that way. Eventually though, she lets her sister go as she stood there, watching the youngest Miller trail the path beneath her, crossing her arms before leaving out of sight.
She shakes her head and sighs, turning and steps away. She wanders throughout the camp, wondering where her boyfriend went. Jennifer walked toward the mess hall, noticing Joe entering the one story building. She slipped through the cracked open door and surprises her boyfriend. He turns around and startles at her sudden appearance before smiling.
"I've decided on what you said last week whilst in the bus."
"And that is?"
"I want to do it."
"Okay, let's go. I guess that cleaning turned you on."
"No, just the anger turning into horniness. Jeez, I feel like one of your friends." She says, pinching the bridge of her nose.
Joe rests his hands on her waist, pulling her closer as her arms wrap around his neck. He brings Barbara's lips to his, beginning to move toward the empty kitchen. Joe closes and locks the door behind them, pulling away long enough for her to remove his shirt, coming back to his lips.
He lifts her up onto the counter, pulling at her shirt and peels it off her body as well as the rest of her clothes, doing the same to him. They are left in their underwear while Joe's lips trace down her body, leading to the top of her breasts while his hands snake around to Barbara's back, unhooking her bra. Once he entered her, Joe begins bucking his hips. She gasps before looking toward the entrance of the kitchen. No one has entered, so he quickens the pace as his hands rest on her hips, moaning softly into his lips. He pulls away.
"Keep quiet, or they'll hear us." He says softly.
Nodding, Barbara bites her bottom lip as she feels herself getting closer. Chills run down her spine as she rides her high, her hand grips the edge of the counter and grunting. Her body gets heavy immediately after, panting and wanting more, she looks him in the eyes as they stay there. Scurrying to pick up their clothes, Joe plants a kiss on her forehead. They quickly get dressed before stumbling out of the kitchen, grabbing supplies and beginning to clean as they act like nothing happened.
~~
The day eventually bleeds into the late afternoon and somewhere else in Camp Redwing, an aged cabin sits. Inside, a male sits with an axe in his hand. He holds the tool where the blade faces his head, motioning that he is about to take his own life. But with a sudden snap of a twig, makes him whip his head around.
The sound of the cabin door opens, revealing another adult -- a woman who is also apart of camp, steps in the room as she sees the male figure crouched with an axe in hand. He rises, facing the woman as her bright look fades into fear.
The male pushes an armchair away. It slams against the wooden planks beneath whilst he makes his way towards the adult supervisor. The unnamed male grabs the female doctor, knocking her to the ground before lifting his axe, burying it deep in her neck. Her bone snaps like a broken stick, abandoning her lifeless body on the floor.
Trudging towards the entrance, he uses his leg and breaks the door open, stepping down each wooden step, wielding his large hatchet. He scurries into the treeline, treading deeper and deeper into the forest as he comes up on campers entering multiple cabins. He hides, examining each and every person closely while he sinks below the treeline, hiding.
His heavy breathing hitches, seeing the counselors before taking off.
~~
Barbara and Joe finally got the mess hall cleaned up, and finally got the campers off to the main area of the camp, setting up for capture the flag. She sighs in relief as she looks over at her boyfriend. She gives him a quick smile before she heads off to her cabin as well, saying goodbye to him.
"I love you,"
"I love you too," He replies.
She saunters into her cabin, closing the door behind her. A sudden snap of a branch causes her to startle, whipping her head around and staring out the foggy window. Her breathing hitches in her throat, wondering who or what made that noise while you carefully step closer, over where your window sits. Barbara looks out, seeing a desolate forest as she sighs in relief then moves toward the entrance, and exits. She leaves behind a desolate cabin, going to supervise the campers and the game they are playing.
She looks up at the sky above, seeing the afternoon sky slowly form over camp redwing. Barbara searches for her boyfriend, noticing that he is nowhere to be found. Approaching William, she sighs.
"Have you seen Joe?"
"No, I haven't. Instead, of looking for your boyfriend, you should be supervising the campers."
"I will. But first, I need to make sure he's doing his job too."
"Okay. I haven't seen him. He is probably somewhere watching these shitheads."
"Uh-huh," She says, making a face at him before turning and walking away.
~~
Eventually, Barbara finally found her boyfriend over by a cabin that is basically a supply closet for toys and outdoor activities, some boxes are even filled with birthday supplies from previous parties thrown a long time ago at the camp.
The one cabin is also known to have the entrance door get stuck, trapping many people in as someone has to help the people who get locked in a confined space. This time, without knowing, it would be Barbara and Joe. She follows her boyfriend in as she starts ranting about looking everywhere for him, almost getting in trouble by another counselor in the process.
In that moment, Barbara felt like an idiot as she made her way into the cabin. She shut the door behind her, forgetting almost immediately about it getting stuck.
Standing in the middle of the cabin, Barbara is still ranting. The two of them stop bickering as he goes to grab something and begin to exit when the door doesn't budge.
"What the hell?" He asks.
"Let me see," Barbara says as she walks over to the door and tries to rattle the knob.
She can't get the door to open as she can feel the heavy weight against her arms. She curses under her breath before leaving the door and standing in the middle of the "closet", having Joe join her in the process before rushing toward it, and using his shoulder against the door. With no progress, the two of them sit there awkwardly as the day slowly passes and soon eventually they get tired.
"How long have we been in here?"
"We just stepped in -- so a couple minutes."
"Darn,"
With a small table sitting against the wall and a window above, Barbara notices as she wonders if she could fit through. She pushes to table a little closer, carefully stepping on the wood before peering out the window. She is able to open it slightly, calling out as no one pays any attention to her cries of help. Her voice going unnoticed amongst the campers. Barbara calls out for her sister, however, no one calls back as she begins to lose hope and patience.
"Barbara, no one is gonna come get us. We're stuck until someone realizes that we are gone." He states, craning his neck.
"No, there -- there has to be someone who can help. You know I hate confined spaces."
Tears threat to spill from Barbara's eyes. The anxiety is slowly building up in her system as sweat forms under her hairline. Her breathing hitches, getting stuck in her throat as the humidity makes it harder to breathe. Her hands shook. Her body got weaker with each passing second. Joe helps her off the table, wrapping an arm around her shoulder.
"Barb-- Barbara, hey, it's okay. Just breathe. Slow and easy."
She listened, taking in his words and trying to calm down. Eventually gaining the courage to breathe, taking in Joe's words and breathing comes down to normal. Nevertheless, the sweat is still sitting there as she stood in her place, breathing calmly.
Soon enough, a tear stained barbara was standing beside Joe. It's been god knows how long since the two of them got stuck, making her sigh while shuffling in her spot. Joe leans against the wall and sighs, trying not to swear out loud but it slips out.
"Jesus. Why isn't anyone coming to rescue us? Surely, someone must know that we're gone. we're counselors, someone should know."
"Joseph, just calm-- calm down, please? It'll be okay."
"How is any of this okay? I didn't expect us to be trapped in some goddamn cabin. I should've held the door open, or propped it on a rock nearby."
"Don't beat yourself up. Some mean camper would probably move the rock, and lock us in anyway. So either choice will lead us to the same scene."
"I guess,"
"Let's think, maybe something here can push the door open if we use our strength."
"I don't know, Barb."
"Can we at least try?" She suggests, folding her arms against her chest.

Chapter Three: Counselor Responsibilities
warnings: people getting caught having sexual intercourse, strong swearing throughout,
summary: barbara cleans the outhouse with Joe, but busts Pamela with Thomas.
As Barbara continues trudging, she makes it to the outhouse. Before stepping in, she suddenly feels something off in her gut but continues, ignoring the vague idea and steps into the outdoor bathroom. When she enters, the dingy bathroom catches her attention immediately.
“Out of everything else. I had to do this.”
"Well, it's a counselor's job, and--." Joe speaks.
"We're counselors. I know." Barbara finishes.
Barbara frowns at her boyfriend while grabbing out the cleaning brush and doing what she needs to do. She begins scrubbing as the gunk won't come off as she curses under her breath.
"Come off."
"Don't worry, it will." Joe attempts to reassure the brunette.
"This stuff won't budge."
"Well, don't put all your energy on that one stall because you have the other stalls, and clean the mess hall next."
Barbara groans lightly whilst rolling her eyes.
"I know, Joseph."
Barbara continues to scrub and scrub until her arm gives out. But she manages to clean the gunk off the outhouse as she glances down at the stain on her shirt, expression changing before rising and holding her shirt.
"Oh, my gosh. Oh, Gosh. This gosh darn dirt! It’s… it’s all over me!”
“Hey! It’s okay. This isn’t a big deal.” responds, rising as well.
“What? No, it’s not. Okay! It…it’s stained!”
“Only Barbara Miller would expect to clean the outhouse and not get a little dirty.”
“It’s not funny!”
Gently pushing her boyfriend away, Joe straightens and brings Barbara’s lips to his. She doesn't realize that Pamela or Thomas are not present, and helping. Suddenly the music from the radio stops playing as she pulls back from her boyfriend, looking through each stall before peering outside.
“Where are they?”
Without hesitation, Barbara stepped out and made her way towards the counselor’s cabins. She pushed open the cabin door, bringing herself in as the door slowly shuts behind her. The scene she walked in on was a couple having sex. The female was laid on the table while the male was standing up. Their moans are loud as Barbara took a step back.
She turned and looked at anything else in the room but the couple doing the dirty, keeping her eyes locked on a stuffed deer head that is mounted against the wall. As soon as they finished, the brunette looked back realizing that it was Pamela and Thomas, two people Barbara knew quite well from class at Horizon High School, and who's younger sister she tried talking to back in the surrounding forest.
“Um… what are you doing?” Barbara asked, turning around.
“What do you think.” Pamela replied, panting.
“Hey, careful. You don’t wanna corrupt her virgin ears.” Thomas joked as Pamela laughed.
Barbara knew she had to muster up something, but nothing came to mind when suddenly a light bulb lit up inside her brain.
Thomas, who was pulling his jeans on, looked at her.
“I thought you were dealing with my dip-shit sister,"
“I was until I got pulled away to do actual work. Unlike you two, who are currently having sex when you both should be helping.” Barbara stated, pausing.
Arnie chuckled, putting on a cowboy hat before sitting down on the couch and reading a magazine.
“We have to get everything together for Capture the Flag. And you guys…” Barbara began, flustered. “Uh, uh… we have to finish cleaning the outhouse.”
Pamela scoffed. “We’re doing shit jobs all summer, now we have to clean up actual shit? No.”
“I’m sorry, but we don’t have a choice.” The brunette replied, unapologetic.
Thomas ignored the conversation, sliding a cigarette of the box and slipping it between his lips. He flicks his lighter, taking a hit before passing it to Pamela.
“What are you doing?” Berbara questions.
“Again, what do you think?” Pamela repeated, taking a hit.
Pamela looked over at Barbara, smirking. “You want a hit, Barb? We know you want to.”
“No. I-- I can't.”
The blonde then blew in Barbara’s face as her and male laughed at her. Barbara groaned before walking toward the radio, and shutting the music off.
“This isn’t funny. We have a job to do.”
Pamela blew the smoke in her face once more.
“Pamela, put that down.” She ordered.
“Or what? What, are you gonna snitch on me again?”
Barbara didn't want to delve into the past between her, Pamela and Thomas as she kept her distance. She bit her lip, feeling almost awkward while she stood there possibly looking like an idiot to them.
Pamela chuckled. Barbara continued with the cold stare.
“Okay... What if you go talk to your little friend Nurse Carter about getting us some Camels."
“Yes,”
“Or Marlboro.”
“Both. The more cigarettes the better.”
“And then we’ll scrub all the shit you want.”
“Camels, Marl… what?” Barbara asked, looking utterly confused.
“Cigarettes,” Thomas announced as she shivered slightly. “Just hook us up,”
He looked up.
“No!” She shrieked. “No, I won’t do that.”
Pamela sighed.
“Stop screwing with me and just do your jobs, please!”
Barbara watched closely as Pamela stepped an inch or two closer, getting in the females face as the joint sits in her mouth. Something inside her was about to burst and she didn't know if it were if it were anger or anxiety.
“Maybe you should have thought about that before blasting Captain and Tennille for two hours straight… Snitch.”
Pamela chuckled, stepping back before jumping on the counter. She pressed the radio button to turn the music back on as Barbara stepped out of the cabin who was still fuming at the other female.

Chapter Two: Camp Redwing
warnings: strong language throughout
Friday, July 19, 1985 Camp Sunrise, Chesterton 10:00 AM
Barbara and Cheryl makes their way out of their counselor cabin as they stop in their tracks. Cheryl says goodbye before sauntering off as she stays in her spot.
She examines the camp from where she's standing, seeing that Judith is not where she should be. Barbara saunters off as well, so she can look for Judith, who is likely getting into trouble. Barbara takes off, looking for the younger Baker sister. She walks through the woods and shouts her name until there’s indistinct chating and grunting as the brunette furrows her brows.
Deciding to follow the noise in case it is her, the teen steps toward a tree as many other pine trees surround the area, watching as Sheila, stands in front of the girl with two boys, making rude comments and beating her up. Barbara steps into view, making eye contact with Sheila, arms crossed.
"What the fuck are you doing?"
“Fuck off!” Sheila shouts.
William and Thomas race behind her, stopping the situation as the female stands there annoyed and a little pissed, wanting to privately deal with the situation herself. The two males break up the problem while Judith rushes toward Barbara with blood running under her nose.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
Thomas looks over and approaches his younger sister, eyeing her bloody features.
"What happened?"
"The only thing I remember is being by myself, and soon getting picked on and was--"
"What were you thinking, dipshit?" Thomas asked, staring at his younger sister.
"Thomas--"
"No! She needs to follow the camps rules. We haven't even been here for very long, and she's already trying to get kicked out. Judith just doesn't get it."
"Thomas, you need to stop! Let this go."
"Just leave me alone,"
"No, I need to make sure you're not seriously hurt, or need medical attention. Just by the sight of your nose bleeding, it looks kinda serious."
"I'm fine, jeez. And fuck off, Thomas. Please!"
The blonde female turns her heel and stomps back to camp, as she wipes her bloody nose while Barbara stood in her place. She crosses her arms, then stares at Thomas pissed off and annoyed.
"What the hell?"
"What? Why can't you ever be lenient on people. You're a stuck up priss." Thomas says, stepping closer and lowering himself to her ear. "Do you remember when we used to have fun?"
"Wha-- Thomas, stop."
"Stop denying it, Barbara."
"I'm just trying to do my job as a counselor, okay? Now, leave me alone."
Barbara turns and follows Judith. In the distance, children are heard shouting and playing around with each other. She finally catches up to the blonde, tapping her shoulder.
"Instead of me, you should have Nurse Carter check out your nose. It could be broken."
"No, I think I'm gonna let it get infected and die."
"Well, that's thrilling." Barbara spoke in a vague tone.
Judith stops in her tracks. "I'm fine, I don't need your help."
The brunette stood there, silent while the blonde continued. She grabbed Judith's wrist, making her to stop in her tracks.
"Just because you slept with my brother doesn't mean that you can waltz your way into my life, and help me. I can handle things on my own."
The blonde breaks free from Barbara’s grasp as she rolls her eyes, turning away. Walking away, Judith holds up her hand as she flips her middle finger at Barbara before turning and entering under the metal sign that reads Camp Redwing above. Once she's gone, Barbara continued as she finally made it back to camp herself.
She looks over at Joe waving his hand, signaling for her to walk over to him. She does so, stepping up to her boyfriend and greeted him with yet, another kiss.
"Yes?"
"We have the outhouse to clean,"
"Okay,"
Barbara sighs as Joe notices, resting his hand on her arm. He makes eye contact with her and furrows his brows, knowing something was wrong.
"Joe, I'm fine. Let's just clean the outhouse, and get it over with, so we can set up for capture the flag."
"Okay,"
And so, the two join Mary in cleaning the outhouse as a bad feeling fills Barbara's stomach. She hopes that it'll fade sometime that night, praying there is no killer coming to try and murder and kill her friends.

Chapter One: Prologue
warnings: slight swearing, teen pregnancy, pregnancy tests
Thursday, July 11, 1985 Shining Street, Chesterton, Indiana 8:00 AM
In the two story house, a female lays on her bed as she sleeps peacefully before being awoken by her mother's voice. It echoes through the corridor causing the girl to wake up. She drowsily opens her eyes, blinking a few times whilst her eyes adjust to the bright sun glaring down from outside.
“Barbara,” Her mother calls, standing in the doorway.
The brunette notices the house phone in her mother’s hand, throwing her covers off and rushing toward her mom. She grabs the phone and puts it up to her ear, saying hello.
“Hey, babe. I wanted to let you know that the bus will pick us up at the bus station.”
“Okay. Let me get dressed, and I’ll meet you there.”
“Alright, love you.”
“Love you too.”
Barbara hangs up her phone, sighing as a smile forms on her face before rushing toward her bedroom to get dressed and to pack up her bag. Stepping into the already warmed room, she feels the heat rising as she steps toward her window and slides it open. The humid breeze flows through her bedroom.
Grabbing her suitcase, packing what she needs before zipping the bag. Barbara throws some clothes on; a pink and white polo with blue jean shorts and brown slide-ons. She pins her hair back and hooks a gold necklace around her neck and golden silver earrings. She finally throws on simple makeup and does her hygiene routine.
~~~~
Cheryl’s point of view.
Eyeing the pregnancy test in her hand, Cheryl shoves the box in her bag as the anxiety rises inside. She wanted to know if she was pregnant, but was unsure if she’d be able to handle being a mother. With a call from her dad downstairs, Cheryl grabs her belongings and exits. She slides in her dad’s BMW as he drives and drops her off at the bus station where she awaits with the other counselors as well as campers.
~~~~
Barbara’s point of view.
Eventually, Barbara is fully ready as she steps out of her bedroom with her suitcase in hand and her shoulder bag as it hangs there. As Barbara entered the bus station, she waited with other campers and counselors, noticing Mary and Pamela standing off to the side with their bags in hand. She watched as Joe approached her, greeting her with a kiss. A douchebag — who goes by the name William approached, blowing his whistle. Thomas stood beside him as the two made eye contact. his younger sister stood opposite side of Barbara.
“Alright, you dicks! Get on the bus.”
Stepping on the bus, Barbara and Joe grabbed a seat. She sets her bag down on the floor beneath her and leans back before grabbing her book from the bag as Joe smiled at her. The book Barbara's reading was 'Skeleton Crew.' A book her aunt recommended last month after the release.
“What do you think we’ll do? Watch a bunch of children as they run around?”
“No, we clean and supervise children as well as plan group activities.”
“Okay, so we won’t be able to sneak off somewhere and have—“
"Joe! Shush. Jeez."
Barbara's face turned a bright shade of red as she looked around the bus then at her boyfriend, shaking her head whilst he mustered a quiet chuckle. Barbara looks out the window beside her as she begins to see a forest as she knew she was getting closer to Camp Sunrise.
Once the bus driver pulled up to the main entrance of camp, Barbara and Joe along with the other campers and counselors stepped off the bus before parting ways with her boyfriend. The female said her goodbyes and went off to help some of the youngest kids get to their cabins before grabbing the map and seeing where her cabin was. She watched the counselors group up along with the campers from the different sides of towns.
Mary is seated beside Barbara as she rolls up a joint, taking a puff of the plant. The female rolls her eyes, feeling small right when the smell catches up to her nose. Walking away, Barbara grabs her bag and heads to the counselor cabin soon walking in and taking up the sight of the old, ratty beds. It makes her shiver when a spiderweb catches her eyes. She took a seat on the bed, hearing a squeak or two as she got some glances from other female counselors including Cheryl. But she ignores it and grabs her bag, getting her clothes out along with her books.
"Barbara," A voice rings out.
"Yes?" She asks, looking up at the raven-haired female.
"Can, uh, you help me with something... in the bathroom?"
"Uh, sure."
Barbara rises from her bed and follows Cheryl into the cabins bathroom for girl's. Cheryl reaches in her bag, pulling out a box that reads 'ADVANCE at-home pregnancy test' as Barbara's eyes widen, knowing that this is real. She makes eye contact with the other female, resting a hand on her shoulder.
"Whatever happens, you'll be okay."
Cheryl hands Barbara the box as she begins opening it, pulling out the test along with the directions. After a few seconds, she hands the cup to Cheryl and lets her do her business, continuing to look over the directions to make sure she is telling the other female the correct information. Coming back Cheryl holds the small cup of urine, setting it down on the counter. Barbara reads off the instructions while the other female does what the paper tells, proceeding with the rest of the test. Once finished, the raven haired girl comes and stands beside the brunette as she watches the test carefully.
After many minutes of waiting, the test reveals the truth within Cheryl as she brings her hands over her mouth. Tears well up in her eyes, stepping closer and stares at the pregnancy test, knowing that she is expecting a baby before turning toward Barbara and being brought into her embrace, crying in her shoulder.
"Don't worry, when we get out of camp, we can get you the abortion you want. That is if you want to go that route..."
"I don't know, I need time think about it for a while. And, I need to tell Thomas. I think it should be thought by both of us."
"Okay. That's alright. If you need anything I'm here."
"Thank you, Barbara. That's sweet of you. But I think it's best if I deal with this."
"Okay."
The two girls toss the test in a nearby trash can as Barbara covers it up with tissue paper, hiding it from the view of other counselors before trudging into the next room. She gets her stuff out and situated.
Hopefully everything will be okay. So Barbara thinks.
She takes off to start her summer doing whatever she can to help out.
