Late Night Huntings
[Short one shot. Wanted to do the classic hunter and vampire dynamic lmao. I wish I could've made it sexy, but alas, I've no skills in that department 🥲 Also pls forgive the many mistakes, I wrote this in a flurry]
Shadows danced on the dimly lit walls of a narrow stairwell as the clacking of heels bounced loudly against its cold, stony walls. A set of feet marched with confidence upwards the rounding steps, the increasing darkness and the cooling, stagnant air having no effect on its owner whatsoever for he, without a doubt, was dead set on taking down his prey tonight. There was no turning back for him now, after all he had gone through just to get here, he had to march on.
Whether he would actually be able to accomplish his goal or even leave this place alive, Adam wasn’t so sure of the outcome. Though he didn’t allow such concerns to bother him right now, not when it might decrease his chances of winning even by a miniscule amount. All that mattered was that he appeared confident – strong – someone not to be underestimated, someone who came to this god forsaken place to strike down a beast. Did it matter that his heart rammed against his ribs? Or the fact that he could feel something climb up the back of his throat? What about the increasing sweat gathering in his palms? It could loosen his grip on his sword, couldn’t it? Then he– No. Adam shook his worries away and instead let that familiar anger flare up from within into confident warnings and threats that swiftly travelled up the staircase and out into a doorway where the shadow of a figure moved slightly. It seemed to have heard him. Good. He was the hunter here.
His steps only grew louder with confidence as the last few sets of steps presented themselves upon him and the face of a man, no, a monster, slowly came into his view. Hair like the pale rays of the morning framed a face with a skin of porcelain and eyes of sapphire, stopping delicately just above its shoulders. If any other person was in Adam’s place, they might mistake the monster for an angel and instead try to befriend the beast. That was, unfortunately, why so many have fallen to such a monster. Using their seemingly delicate, pretty features and promises of grandeur to charm their way into the people’s hearts minutes before they would tear that very same organ out of their mortal bodies. In his 26 years of life and many many years of expertly hunting beasts and monsters, nothing was deadlier than the vile creature Adam was marching his way towards. Nothing was worse than a filthy, blood sucking Vampire.
“You fucking leech! You think you can just raze a town into nothing, spilling blood everywhere and be free to enjoy the spoils of your destruction in the comfort of your home?” shouted Adam as the face of the vampire fully came into view. His blood boiled with anger as he recounted the scenery he arrived at nigh a fortnight ago. Ashes swirling along with the wind as dark, dried blood stained the ground that cradled the mangled bodies of the former residents of the small village. From the elderly to those barely able to walk, none was spared from the vampire’s rampage. Adam was by no means an amateur – in his field of area, victims and their corpses were a normal occurrence. This wouldn’t even be the first vampire he would slay, many others had burned to his sword before (and this one would too). But when he heard tales of a beautifully pale, golden haired man (the people’s words not his) dressed in ornate apparel clearly not belonging in a small secluded village apparently wandering amongst its residents at night, Adam knew exactly who the people were talking about.
Unfortunately, it seemed that Adam had arrived too late to save the villagers from the monster. A dull kind of sadness sat on his chest for but a brief moment before it returned back to a flaming fury. Tonight, not only was he going to avenge those poor victims from the village, but also its past victims ranging from centuries ago. Tonight, he was going to ensure that one of the pillars of vampire society would tumble and burn to ash.
Out of the corner of his eye, Adam spotted a boot and… was that a leg? It looked a little crumpled and unnaturally flat. Perhaps another unfortunate victim the leech had gotten hold of while he tracked its whereabouts. His grip on his weapon only tightened with burning determination as his steps increased in pace and his arms positioned themselves to a strike.
“Michael! Tonight it will be your blood that will be spilled inst–!!
Adam was by no means a clumsy man. Hot headed? Without a doubt. Reckless? Perhaps, but he usually had some idea of what to do. Granted, he wasn’t the most graceful man on earth, but he was swift on his toes and the slashes of his sword would cut through the air. So why now, of all time, did his feet decide to not cooperate and betray him? And in front of humanity’s mortal enemy?
Needless to say, his legs did manage to bring him towards the False Sun itself, though perhaps a little too closely for Adam’s liking as his face felt against the silken fabric of what possibly could be Michael’s waistcoat. As he moved his cheek an inch trying to do God knows what, Adam felt the rounded shape of a button. He had, without a doubt, fallen face first towards the vampire.
“I must admit I was prepared for a fight, the usual one…” A cool, silky voice sounded from just above his head, seemingly not too bothered by having a large man collapse on top of him. “But this kind of ‘fighting’...” a hum, then the vampire continued, “I profess I’m not too opposed to the idea–”
If imploding from shame was possible, Adam would have collapsed onto dust by now. Alas, he was only human nor had he bothered to learn of such magicks from his peers. His only option? To do what he had always been good at. Cut the parasite into unrecognisable pieces. Within a split of a second, the shame that enveloped him had completely drained away and his sword swung through the air, the blade heading swiftly towards the vampire’s neck.
“–if it means resolving things in a peaceful manner.” Michael held a tight grip on his wrist, the sliver blade inches away from his neck seemingly non-existent. With a slight, painful twist to his wrist, the blade fell pitifully away from his grip, its metallic clatter a deafening noise in the room.
There was a tension in his body, frozen by panic, shock, and possibly even fear. Here he was still as a mouse, unsure of his next move for he could die in the next second should Michael deem it so. Face down, his head still leaning against the night creature, for he could not bear to look the thing in the eyes right now, something shimmery caught his attention. How could he forget? Eve always insisted he carry the cross with him, wear it around his neck to appease possible religious fanatics, assure them that he worked with the church not against them. The cross, as effective as it was towards the religious folk, had no real effect against the supernatural except perhaps to confuse them for a second as to why a hunter would bother to depend on them in the first place. This cross, however, was in fact a small silver dagger. Would it kill the monster before him? Adam wished so, but unfortunately the most it could do was possibly to have the vampire let go of him. That would be enough. No, it had to be enough, otherwise…
With a sharp inhale, Adam unsheathed the small dagger and attempted to stab the vampire in front of him…only to feel something cold grasp onto his left hand. The tip of the blade disappeared into the waistcoat, though from the lack of reaction from Michael, it seemed to not have pierced into his flesh.
“Are you fucking with me?” Adam hissed between his teeth. How was it that Michael seemed to be able to read his next moves? Without much of a choice left, Adam struggled and thrashed against the vampire’s grip, his left hand still trying its best to pierce beyond the fabric of Michael’s attire. “Let go of me, asshole! Or I swear you’ll die a hundred times worse than all of your victims combined and then some more!”
Michael merely quirked a brow at Adam’s display, unfazed by the barrage of curses and promises of death hurled towards him. Slowly, he loosened his grip on the human, enough to prevent the thrashing man from possibly twisting his wrists but still having Adam tied to him.
“First you throw yourself at me, then soon after promises of death,” Michael idly noted, though Adam swore he could see the faintest smirk at the corner of the vampire’s lips. “I think you might’ve misunderstood vampires um..?”
“Garth,” he answered with a scowl, though a slight red was beginning to spread from his cheeks. He was sure the bastard was playing with him. “And I did not throw myself at you! I– I merely,” he gulped before quietly admitting as he looked down and away from Michael’s stupidly pretty face, “I merely tripped.”
However, a soft, withheld snort caused Adam to snap his attention back to the vampire in front of him, as red fully encased his face up to his ears, from shame or anger, he wasn’t sure anymore. All he was sure of was that Michael was not taking him seriously at all. In fact, it seemed that the vampire was mocking him! The angelic looking blood sucker from hell.
Noticing the human’s exasperated expression before him, Michael reigned in his amusement, his lips returning to its original flat shape. A smile remind within his thoughts however. “How adorable.”
“Ah, from the House of Garth. Apologies, I didn’t mean to offend,” Michael placed a hand on his chest, where his heart should be, allowing Adam’s left hand to finally be free.
Though, for all his wit and aptitude for killing creatures of all kinds, Adam hadn’t exactly mastered the skill of diplomacy and delicacy, not that he ever tried especially now, when he faced one of the most vile creatures of the night.
“Your face is offensive,” hissed Adam at Michael’s show of sincerity. If Adam was crude and blunt, then vampires were his complete opposite. The leeches were masters of speechcraft and deceit. The bastard in front of him didn’t even have a beating heart!
Michael moved his free hand from his chest to his face, his long, slender fingers carefully gliding over his perfectly smooth cheeks before it began tracing his sharp jawline towards the end of his pointed cheek where perfectly kissable lips were just above it. Adam tore his gaze from the vampire and instead focused a glare at a wall away from the charming face before him.
“Don’t fall for their charms Adam!” he reminded himself. That was it. Definitely. Michael was, without a doubt, using his vampire magic to get Adam to lower his guard. There was no way he was actually eyeing the leech. It was a leech! A blood sucking vampire! Adam mentally slapped himself as he steeled himself to keep glaring at the wall.
“Offensive?” Michael pondered aloud before moving closer to the human ensuring he was in view at the very least, “I’ve heard nothing but compliments from your kind, but I suppose my appearance does not match your palate?”
The vampire had the audacity to come closer to Adam and even do a little head tilt with his bright blue eyes glimmering like precious jewels even in the dimness of the room they were in. How did he manage that? To always look so perfect no matter the angle; not that Adam thought Michael actually looked good. No way. It was all a façade anyway. Sooner or later all that sweet charm would fade into monstrous hunger. He did, however, find it a little odd how he was still alive and ‘conversing’ with Michael. Was he really that much fun to play with? Usually vampires weren’t fans of his ‘colourful’ personality, as many others have said before, and would’ve simply broken his bones already or at least attempted to kill him already. Michael, however, seemed to enjoy it.
“Of course not,” Adam scoffed at the vampire. “I mean, look at you. You’re…” he eyed Michael up and down, from the flowing golden that was his hair, down his smooth pale neck, his lean, strong body up to his long, slender fingers. The vampire was pretty? No, he couldn’t say that. Beautiful? Couldn’t say that either. Alluring? Perhaps, but there was no way he was going to admit that aloud. “...you’re tiny. Right! Too slim, like a twig! Not how a real man should be.”
“Oh?” Michael placed his fingers on the underside of Adam’s chin, caressing the skin there before pulling him even closer towards him. “And how should a man look, might I ask?”
Being this close to Michael, Adam could now truly see how spotless the vampire’s face was, completely void of any imperfections as if every feature had been delicately and purposely placed there. He could feel Michael’s breath cool and pleasant against his skin like a welcomed reprieve from a suffocating heat. An instinctive gulp went down his dry throat, and for a few precious seconds, Adam was truly speechless.
“Hmm? Won’t you enlighten me, hunter?”
“I– I, well,” stammered Adam as a slight shiver travelled up his spine. As much as he wanted to pull away, Michael’s fingers, and perhaps something else, stilled him on the spot. He cleared his throat, forcing his own green eyes to meet the vampire’s own icy blues. “Well, somewhat like me! Tall and big and menacing! Not delicate looking like you.”
“You say I look delicate?”
“It’s not a compliment.”
“You are not much taller than me,” Michael noted as he eyed Adam up and down, taking every bit of detail about the human.
“You’re still shorter, and skinnier. It’s not a good look,” Adam insisted as tried to turn away and hide away from the vampire’s obvious gazes. “Quite hideous really.”
“Truly?”
“Without a doubt.”
“Well then.”
All of a sudden Adam felt himself stumble backwards as his other hand was finally released from the vampire’s; he hadn’t even realised he had begun using the other’s hold on him to remain standing. Then, a shadow slowly began to climb atop of him, starting from his shoulders up to face until it covered him and went past beyond his height. With the use of dark, vampire magic, the creature in front of him shifted and transformed from frail, pretty noble to someone who was at least a head taller than him, shoulders broad and wide, wavy golden locks tied behind in a low ponytail. Without a doubt, it was still the same vampire, the same perfectly pale skin, the same precious bejewelled eyes, the same silken gold hair – just bigger and taller, and exactly how Adam thought in his mind a ‘manlier’ version of the vampire would look like. Not that the previous appearance was unpleasant. Wait. Adam gave pause to his thoughts. Michael looked exactly how he imagined him in his head… Did..?
“Did you fucking read my mind?” Adam covered his head protectively with both hands despite knowing the futility of such an action. A fluster began to spread once more across his face up to his ears, his heart beating against his ribs just like at the beginning when he climbed those stairs, but also a little different.
“Have I become more pleasing now?” asked Michael with a sweet smile upon his lips as he stepped closer towards Adam like a predator closing in on its prey, his shadow towering over the human, making Adam feel, for once, quite small despite his tall stature of 6 '1".
“You–!” He quickly picked up his silver sword off the ground, pointing the sharp and deadly end towards the vampire.
Michael stopped before the blade could actually pierce through his waistcoat, though it seemed they had arrived at an impasse. “Why are you hesitating?” he asked.
Why was he hesitating? At this point, with all the conflicting thoughts clashing within his head, Adam wasn’t so sure anymore. He could easily just push his sword through the fabric and into the flesh, ending the vampire here and there – that was what he had spent nearly two weeks tracking Michael for. But despite all his training, despite all his rational thoughts screaming at him to just be done with all this, his grip on his sword faltered, not completely lax, but also lacking the intent he had earlier. This vampire was…odd. An absolute lunatic. But he hadn’t killed Adam when he easily could’ve earlier and still wasn’t attempting to harm him even now.
“Either push your sword through or drop it.”
The fight just wasn’t there. There was no point in attacking someone who wasn’t willing to fight. Adam tried to explain to himself the reasons for his own bizarre behaviour, at least he actively was until he caught a glimpse of a body not too far behind Michael.
“I don’t think your victim over there would be too pleased if I give up now,” he said, tightening his hold onto the hilt once more.
“Oh, him?” Michael moved to the side, hands presenting the mangled corpse behind him to Adam. “A gift for you.”
Then it hit Adam like a giant troll punching him through a wall. For a moment he thought he finally found a different vampire, that despite his lunacy, Michael might’ve been unique from his kind, that perhaps there was misunderstanding. Turned out, he was just better at hiding his tendencies, perks of being an ancient vampire he supposed. Of course, they all turn to their true base selves in the end, Adam should’ve seen it coming.
“I heard you were tracking him down, so I thought I could make things a little easier for you.” Michael moved over towards the corpse, a displeased look painted upon his face.
“Wait, what?”
“Of course, I also didn’t agree with what he did to those villagers,” Michael recalled the tragedy that befell the villagers, his lips turning downwards into a frown, a dark shadow cast on his face as he stomped unto what should’ve the head. “Some of those people were rather affable towards me.”
“W-wait a second!” Adam moved towards Michael and nearer to the corpse on the ground. Now that he really paid closer attention to the corpse, he noted the distinct lack of red blood that was supposed to have pooled around the body. Instead, there was soot and ash spread around a dessicated figure beneath a bunch of torn garments. This was not the corpse of a human. “You mean to tell me that he was the one that attacked the village? Not you?”
For once something else other than cool amusement or unreadable indifference formed itself onto Michael’s face.
Seemingly taken aback by Adam’s question, Michael turned his attention back towards the human, a sad disappointment plastered all over his face, the shimmer in his blue eyes looking almost like crystalline tears. Adam almost wanted to reach over and give the vampire a reassuring pat, but held back instead. It would’ve been strange from his end. Mad even, for a hunter to even think about apologising to a vampire.
“No, it wasn’t me,” Michael answered Adam, dejection nigh palpable from his voice alone. “I would never attack unprovoked and never for fun. It’s not within my nature.”
Before he knew it, a scoff escaped from Adam, “Not within your nature, really?”
“I tell the truth.”
“You’re a vampire,” Adam hissed at Michael. “Perhaps not the worst of your kind, but a vampire regardless.”
“I am my own person, Adam. I’m not shackled to my birth despite how you and your fellows may think so.”
“How do you–?”
“I am knowledgeable in many things, Adam,” Michael answered his question for him as he made his way back towards the human, his shadow looming over once more. “Of course, you are too. The difference is, I know my proclivities quite well. My needs and wants.”
The vampire leaned down towards Adam, one hand sliding its way up the human’s shoulder, fingers briefly tracing his collar bone before resting his hand lightly against the nape. Michael whispered, fangs so close to Adam’s neck and yet the hunter attempted no escape, “Are you aware of yours?”
Adam could almost feel himself wanting to bare his neck, giving the vampire all the access he needed for a drink. He wondered how it would feel like. Would it be an unbearable pain? Maybe something on the pleasurable side? Perhaps a mixture of both sensations?
“A hunter likes to chase, no?”
Too close. Michael was too close and Adam didn’t like it. “Who would chase after you?!” Adam snapped back, finally having broken free from his brief trance, as he pulled himself away from the vampire using his silver sword to further increase the space between them. He desperately needed the space away from the vampire, to be able to breathe, to think rationally. He was slowly getting swayed by Michael’s words, and that was dangerous.
This time Michael made no attempt to bridge the distance between him and Adam, it seemed he had pushed the human enough for today, though he allowed himself a victorious smile at Adam’s response. “Who said anything about chasing me?”
Before Adam could defend himself from his mishap, Michael began heading towards the door, stopping just before the stairwell to turn back at Adam one more time.
“In half a fortnight, at midnight, in this very same place,” Michael informed the hunter, that same victorious smile from earlier still on his lips. “If you would like to continue your hunt for me.”
Then, in a flash the figure before Adam vanished into a mist swirling down the dark stairwell.
Adam wished he had thrown his sword towards the bastard leech’s face then, only he had already been drained of energy for the night, and perhaps the following night too. Others have warned him about the Auruses before, many others have told him about their dangerous encounters with that ancient vampire family. He had even read and studied several journals and books about that hellish family and their unending capacity for cruelty. He was quite sure, and Michael’s very presence only proved him correct, that Michael was in fact the Michael from the Auruses, direct son of the clan leader. And yet here was Adam, dumbly standing in an empty room, seriously contemplating returning to the place as per the invitation of an Aurus. Honestly, even he wondered if there was something wrong with him sometimes.
“Fuck me.”

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY I finally finished My harpy!Adam x centaur!Michael traditional draw!!!!! i'm so happyyyyyyyyy!!!!! 😩😩😩😭😭😭❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥✨✨✨🎸🛡️
i'm so freaking proud!! 🥹 I feel like I have improved since my last traditional draw 🥰🥰🥰 And I love what I managed to do with Adam's Golden plumage 🪶✨
This au takes place in a world where different beastmen clans exist and rule
Adam is the only son of a middle class family in the kingdom of the harpies, since he was born he has been praised for his peculiar and unique golden plumage, never seen before in all the existence of the harpy civilization, despite this due to the brightness of his feathers adam is incapable of hunting anything on his own, making him the worst hunter in all the kingdom (an activity really important for the pridedul harpies)
He has been engaged to Lilith (daughter on the rulers of the kingdom) since his Childhood, Even though they are very good Friends and actually like each other (You won't get toxic/abusive adalith from me, not sowwy) lilith isn't totally ok with becoming Queen, since it Will limit her freedom and will practically tie her down to land forever (the harpies choosed to rule the kingdom spend almost 0 time on the sky after being crowned) because of this she decides to run away alongside lucifer (a naga friend of Adam and her) and try to convince Adam to join them, claiming that Adam's parents only care about the privilege and status that Adam's marriage can give them and not really about what he wants, Adam out of fear and uncertainty about leaving his Home decides to decline though he keeps lilith's whereabouts a secret.
Lilith's parents made an effort to find her but choose to desist after finding out a letter where she explains that it's her decision to leave, they start removing lilith's presence from their Home, paintings, photos, clothe, etc and even forbid their other children to talk about her, Adam gets very surprised at his old in-laws behaviour towards their once favorite child, making him remember lilith's words about what their parents really care about.
Some time passes and Adam's parents find him a new partner, the beautiful Eve, the only daughter of another high ranking noble family, while uncertain about this new relationship Adam decides to give it a go, Eve and him have very good compatibility and end up falling in love.
After Adam talks to Eve about his impossibility to hunt and how this makes him feel inferior and useless as an harpy Eve decides to help him and takes him hunt with her in secret.
After some weeks, and some sucessful hunts, Adam asks to do it alone to which Eve agrees and even makes it a bet, whoever that catches the biggest pray will win, after some hours Adam finds what it appears to be a Big deer and launches towards it, but as he gets closer he manages to make out the silhouette of a man's torso, making Adam dodge at the last moment and ends up landing against a bush.
It wasn't a deer but a centaur (michael)
After a few seconds of recovering, Adam turns around only to see the huge centaur galloping quickly towards him, Adam expects to be stomped to death but instead Michael kicks a werecat that was aiming for his head, Michael helps Adam get up and presents as the prince of the centaur kingdom, he explains that there has been a Lot of attacks from werecats the past days and that is too dangerous for him to hunt alone, Adam gets very worried for Eve and rushes towards the last place he saw her, Michael following close.
They are attacked again by a small group of werecats and Adam gets tackled by one, before his face gets bitten off Eve launches againts it and start ripping his face with her claws, the werecat manages to dodge her attack and bites her neck, causing a huge wound and throwing her against a tree, Michael kicks the werecat with full force againts a rock, breaking one of his arms and this decides to flee with the rest of his group.
Eve it's too hurt and can barely talk, much less walk or fly, Adam asks Michael for help to take Eve to their kingdom to which Michael agrees, sadly, eve's wounds are too deep and she passes away in Adam's arms.
Eve's parents lashes againts Adam, claiming that he was never a worthy mate for their daughter and only agreed to their marriage because of the insistense and persuasion of his parents, that he couldn't even by called an harpy and that he was just a waste of space, that it didn't matter how much he tried nothing he did would change what he was, just a pretty ornament
After Adam returns Home and tells his parents what happened, he is left spechless at their cold hearted reaction, limiting themselves to say that they would find him a better mate, one more beautiful and of a more wealthy/high ranking family.
Lilith was right
Adam lashes against them and decides to leave to find eve's murderers.
Long story short, with the hunting training he had with Eve Adam it's able to find the group of werecats that attacked them that night, he manages to take down all of them but ends up really hurt and on the verge of death.
After some days, he wakes up at the centaur kingdom, Michael found him and took him to take care of his wounds. Michael claims that he was able to contact his parents but that they claimed to have no son. Adam it's not surprised but still sheds a few tears.
Michael asks him what he would like to do, Adam admits he doesn't know, he didn't though he would get out of the fight with the werecats alive, he was willing to die as long as he was able to take eve's murderers with him, he doesn't know if he'll be able to live a normal life or be happy again, Michael claims that he won't let him die and that he can stay with him as long as he wants.
Long story short, Adam starts working with Michael as a royal aide, doing basic paperwork and helping him with not too demanding activities. After some time they start to become more and more close and Adam is able to find a new will to live along with new passions (carving wood figures, singing and painting, My hc it's that Adam is very artistic so i'll add it to this story too because I can hehe)
They get married after some years and have lots of cute babies pegasus 🥹🎸🛡️❤️‍🔥✨
Some fun facts:
-the beastmen in this story use clothe, but Michael owns a secret garden where Adam and him run around naked to take off some stress (as seen in the draws above 🫣🤭 and yes, it's a little hint to eden)
-all of Adam and michael's children have metalic feathers and different coloured plumage
-centaurs are mainly vegetarian but can eat meat too
-Michael, Lucifer, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel and Jophiel are siblings but they all are of different species (their father, a centaur, had a very "ahem" social life he was a hoe lol)
-Adam gives birth to Golden eggs that later hatch on baby pegasus (giving birth to normal sized baby horses would kill him 🫠)
I highly doubt to make a comic or fic from this story but still wanted to share my ideas for this au 🥰🥰🥰
(and sorry for any misspelling word 😅)

I NEED Adam to kiss all of the archangels 🥱
I like the way you think, anon! And maybe even more than a kiss ≖‿≖ Honestly, Adam gets all the kisses for me.
Unfortunately though, I've only really got Michael and Gabriel (and Lucifer too I guess?) characterised out of the archangels. BUT! I do have solid foundations of their characters. So! Here are some shorts I've written for you!
(Lucifer)
“Adam.”
Distant screams and panicked shouts echoed from down below the hotel’s balcony as acid rain brought down another of Hell’s daily punishment upon its ill-prepared sinners. Their screams of agony as the acid melted the flesh from their bones was a sound that used to make Adam sick. It wasn’t pity for his descendants, but rather a feeling of disgust for having to hear and witness the cruelty unleashed upon them. A sore on his eyes so to say. As the months had gone by however, as he had slowly grown to accept that he was indeed to remain in Hell as a sinner, those sights and sounds became nothing but mere background noise to Adam. Simply, another day in Hell. And as he sat by the window, the glass separating him from the world outside, the only sound he only truly heard was the pitter patter of rain falling against the window. It was almost peaceful, like a rainy day on earth where the crops would get a healthy watering. Peace, however, was quite the rarity in Hell.
“Thought I’d find you here.”
By the doorway, one pale hand still on the doorknob, Lucifer stood as a sigh of relief escaped from him. The meeting with Sera hadn’t gone as smoothly as he had hoped.
Lucifer coughed into his fist while shutting the door behind him. “Sera, amirite? That stick’s been up her ass since the dawn of time, so I wouldn’t really worry too much…”
The words gradually died down on his tongue, the light hearted chuckles fading into silence as soon as Adam turned to face him. There were no tears, or fire in his eyes, simply the dulling of gold that was worn for far too long. Adam was a strong man. For all his faults and flaws, the first man was without a doubt strong, hardened by the sacrifices and trials he had to endure during his lengthy existence as both human and angel. Even when he returned as a sinner, Adam remained secure in himself. Sure, there many uncountable instances of explosive anger and haughty pride, but he arrived there soon enough, to stability. He was always good at that, finding a spot for himself no matter how rocky the situation. It was as if he always knew the whats and the wheres. The only other time Lucifer had seen Adam truly lost was during the collapse of Eden. When everything he ever knew shattered before him. His home, his friendships, his love. And now, sitting by the window, Adam had that same look on his face once more, a puzzle piece who had nowhere to go.
“Adam…” Lucifer started as he made his way to the sinner.
“What am I gonna do now?” asked Adam, his voice cracking as he held back the emotions that threatened to burst from within.
Comforting people has never been quite Lucifer’s strongest suit, preferring to instead drift his attention away from his problems via absurd distractions. Still, for old time’s sake, he hoped to try anyway.
“What do you mean?” Lucifer sat on the floor beside Adam, the redness of the sky like a curtain draping over them, close enough for comfort and far enough not to suffocate. “You have the hotel. It’ll take a while, but you could still get redeemed and then–”
“No.”
“No?”
Adam looked at Lucifer, properly this time, the golds of his eyes seemingly hardening into a fiery opal. “I’ve felt it. When Sera spoke to me…”
“Adam…”
“God has–” Adam sniffed, his lips trembling as he let the words trickle down while he withdrew into himself, to hide from the reality that was slowly crashing down on him. “God has abandoned me.”
The first man crumpled before Lucifer, his form never having been so small before while the world continued as usually did, the seeming insignificance of his pain disregarded by his creator. It was a sensation, a torment Lucifer had painfully gone through himself long ago when he was first cast away from his home. It was a sorrow he didn’t wish for Adam, despite everything the first man had done. He had unknowingly inflicted such sorrow against him once in Eden, and so this time, he would endeavour to piece the first man back together once more. Even if it would take eternity.
“You have us.” Lucifer wrapped his arms and wings around Adam’s withdrawn form, a familiar warmth encasing the two away from realities of the world even for just a moment. Then, a tender kiss planted from the lightbringer onto humanity’s head. An old promise to an old friend, brought back from a time that no longer existed.
“You have me.”

(Michael)
“Well, that’s a look that puts Hell’s fires into shame,” whistled Gabriel as strutted towards his brother, one hand raised and ready to mess up Michael’s wavy locks. “What’s gotten you in such a mood?”
Knowing better than to rise to the bait and inflate his younger brother’s ego more, Michael simply flicked Gabriel’s reaching hand away from his head before it could do any more damage to his appearance. This was especially not the place for him to lose face. Gabriel might keep trying, but Michael refused to appear any more foolish in front of the first man. Having his temper tested was plenty enough for today.
So instead, Michael was willing to let such blatant disrespect towards him go. For now. He would decide what to do with Gabriel once the environment was more favourable.
“I’m assuming your little meeting here is finished?” asked Michael, though it was more of an announcement rather than a genuine question, as he moved past Gabriel and into the dim room filled with colourful flashing lights. There was a large screen with odd coloured patterns, across from it was a low table filled with snacks and drinks, and in the corner of the room, was the first man himself, one foot still on the table as he held an odd looking plastic guitar in his hands.
“W–” Adam started, but before he could even get a word out, Gabriel swiftly collected his things from the room, giving Adam a careless wave of a hand on his way out of the door.
“I happen to be needed elsewhere soon,” said Gabriel as he shut the door behind him, leaving the first man to fend for himself against a clearly displeased Michael. “See ya!”
Now that the two were alone, Michael’s attention had nowhere else to turn to but towards Adam, or more specifically, the state of Adam. Casual clothes, mess everywhere in a karaoke room, colourful lights and music still blaring in the background, Adam was most definitely not in any state to meet up with Michael, who appeared as prim and proper as befitting of an archangel.
For starters, Adam reached for the tv’s controller, pausing both the game and the music that was still playing on the screen. He hoped that the reduced noise would at least somewhat alleviate Michael’s displeasure, and perhaps spare him from the more troublesome punishments that were most definitely awaiting for him.
“Do you know what day it is, Adam?” inquired Michael while he made himself comfortable on the couch, legs crossed and a reprimanding look thrown towards the first man.
“Uhhh, saturday?”
“Try again.”
In all of his thousands of years of existence, Adam could count on only one hand when Michael had ever been truly upset with him. For all his strict adherence to the rules of Heaven and ensuring the status quo, Michael had never truly punished the first man for all the troubles he had both brought and gotten himself into. The only times Adam could recall being punished was whenever Gabriel was involved, and even then, it felt more like just discipline rather than true punishment. This apparent fact, however, was not something Adam had come to realise himself, who was content with the subtle pampering. Instead, it was Gabriel himself who brought it to Adam’s attention just a few days ago, noting Michael’s supposed bias towards the first man.
Adam swallowed dryly. If he were to be reprimanded today, then he might as well test Gabriel’s supposition.
“Ah, well, it’s been an exhausting week, you know?” yawned Adam as he fell dramatically down onto the couch beside Michael in feigned fatigue while ensuring he had his best puppy eyes looking pitifully towards the seraph. “I just thought I’d take a little break.”
“It’s only Wednesday, Adam,” replied Michael with an impassive tone, though the way he had averted his softening gaze elsewhere had betrayed his exterior.
“Oh,” was Adam’s only response, confounded by both how incorrectly he had gotten the day wrong and how he did seem to have an effect on Michael’s current disposition.
It seemed, however, that Adam’s curt reaction had rendered his previous effort null as Michael uncrossed his legs and let out a disappointed sigh, his eyes on the door.
“I’ll let Sera know you’ll be arriving soon.”
“W-wait!”
Without much thought, Adam pulled at Michael’s arm, dragging the angel closer towards him, their faces inches away from each other. At such a distance, Adam could clearly see the starry marks that adorned the other angel’s pale face and the slight flush of gold that was beginning to bloom all over his cheeks.
“Adam?”
Perhaps emboldened by the drinks he had prior or by his newfound knowledge or maybe even a mix of both, Adam leaned up towards Michael, his lips a featherlight connection against Michael's starry cheeks.
And then, there was silence. A brief moment of pleasant surprise between the two as gold slowly blossomed on their warming cheeks.
“I–” Michael suddenly stood up, pulling himself away from Adam one hand attempting to cover his flushed face. “I think you might’ve had too much to drink.”
“Uh, yeah…” Adam replied as he plopped down onto the couch, eyes staring off into the room’s dark blue ceiling. The absurdity of what he just did had seemingly frozen both his mental and physical capacities, rendering him immobile on the couch as a million unprocessed thoughts scrambled back and forth in his mind.
“I, uh, I’ll inform Sera that you’re, uh, unwell,” continued Michael, still unable to face the first man, before abruptly vacating the room as if he would burst into flames the longer he stayed in there.
“Uh, yeah…” repeated Adam, still staring off into the ceiling, his disbelief like a heavy blanket over him. Then he blinked, his senses returning in suffocating waves with shame and anger hitting him the hardest. Despite all of the overwhelming emotions going through him, however, what truly baffled Adam the most, was the fact that he felt no regret. No thoughts of wishing to take his kiss back or to have given it to someone else instead. Instead, he found his fingers lightly touching his lips, recalling the warmth he felt for a moment, one he hadn’t managed to savour.
“Ughh,” Adam groaned loudly into his hands as he writhed on the couch. “What the fuck did I do?”

(Gabriel)
The embassy walls were as smooth as Adam remembered them. Even in the dimness of the room, the white walls almost glowed in their spotless cleanliness, a stark contrast to the eternal filth and chaos just on the other side of these walls. However, what once provided Adam a familiar comfort with its unfiltered holiness separating him from the squalor of Hell, had now become an unsettling environment. The white and gold walls sent an unwanted chill down his spine, its divine presence hanging like a sharpened sword above his head, sharp and deadly.
The embassy meeting room was a room that Adam was all too familiar with. A room where he was in charge. A room where he was free to do as he pleased. A room where he had the confidence of the commander of the exorcists. Those sensations almost felt so far away now to Adam as he sat at the end of the table, opposite the grand chair he used to sit in. This time, he was the guest waiting quietly in the dark.
As if mercy had decided to end the growing uneasiness that threatened him, a bright light erupted from the large seat across from Adam, dissolving any remnants of darkness within the room. A tall figure then began to form from the light, one with a familiar face.
Adam felt his shoulders relax slightly at the sight before him. He had come prepared to be rebuked and even mocked by whichever superior was willing to arrange a meeting with him at the embassy today. But to his pleasant surprise, the one who came was someone who he was rather friendly with.
“Gabriel!” Adam called out with a smile on his face. Gabriel was one of the few seraphim who tolerated, and sometimes even indulged, Adam’s antics up in Heaven.
The seraph looked up to the source of the voice, a small shock evident on his face. “Adam?” he asked, his eyes squinting despite the perfect brightness of the room, as he leaned forward towards Adam. “Oh wow. And here I thought a demon had grown bold so as to tell an obvious lie.”
“Well, it’s me. The one and only Dickmaster!” affirmed Adam, his arms crossed over his chest and a growing confidence on his lips. His prior malaise ebbed away by the mere presence of his friend.
“Hm, and a sinner now too,” noted Gabriel as he leaned back onto his seat, summoning a glass of red wine onto his hand. “Wine?”
Adam waved off the seraph’s offer, “Can I have soda instead? The grape flavoured one? Haven’t had those in a while.”
“Hmmm…” hummed Gabriel aloud in an exaggerated show of thought, hand on his chin and gaze in the distance, before returning his attention back towards the first man. “Nope!”
“Huh? Why the fuck not?”
“Because I said so,” answered Gabriel, though his tone remained light it was still made clear that he left no room for argument. For all of Adam’s obstinacy and difficulty to accept certain changes, he knew for a fact that Gabriel was even worse than him once he had decided on things, unless he was of course instructed by God itself. Such an event however, would be a miracle itself. The seraph was quite literally the definition of an immovable object.
“So, would you like some wine?” asked Gabriel once more between sips of his own drink.
Knowing it would be a losing battle anyway, Adam relented with a nod. Stuff from Heaven was better than anything from Hell anyway. “Ugh, fine.”
“Red or white?”
Adam slumped down onto the table, a loud groan leaving him. Heavenborns, no matter how amiable and easy going they appear to be, would never fail to be irritatingly haughty by some degree it seemed. As if such an attitude was hard wired into them during their creation.
“Dude, whatever.” Adam waved his hand randomly in the air while his head remained rested against the coolness of the table.
“Same as mine then – red.”
With a snap of Gabriel’s fingers, a glass half filled with wine materialised on the table just beside Adam’s lying head. Its deep red hue a stark contrast against the crystalline blue of the glass table, almost reminiscent of the same shade that freely stained the streets of Pride except this one was of divine origin.
“So,” Gabriel started, “you’ve become a sinner now, have you?”
The click clacketing of heels bounced between the sterile walls of the room, their steadily increasing volume almost deafening Adam. And as the sounds got louder and louder, each echo like freezing winds hitting against him, a chill slowly began to climb its way onto Adam’s back. Rising higher and higher until the click clacketing stopped and the sudden coldness of the room seemed to have frozen time itself. Adam directed his gaze from the redness of his drink towards the figure standing behind, standing just a few away from Adam himself like a jailer supervising a criminal.
Shaking off the creeping unease that managed to find its way back towards him, Adam pushed himself upright from the table, his eyes still trained on the smiling angel in front of him.
“Yeah, that’s what I called this meeting for,” answered Adam as he tried to keep his voice steady. His hand reached for his glass on the table, swirling the red liquid slowly again and again – anything to keep creeping trepidation at bay, and the deep red spiral was a welcome distraction. Something to channel the anxious energy to.
“I was hoping you could help me do something about it,” Adam continued, mumbling a little as he took a sip of the wine.
As soon as his lips touched the red drink, however, a searing pain erupted from his lips down to his throat. The glass slipped from Adam’s hand, shattering onto the white marble floor as a glistening deep red that crawled slowly towards the boot of seraph.
“Oh, did I forget to mention that that was a blessed wine?” Gabriel mused aloud before taking another sip from his own drink. “It tastes divine though.”
In front of the seraph, Adam was nearly bent over as he hacked out every little drop of the wine that he had managed to drink. His throat was burning from both the wine and the coughing, his vision a blur from the tears that began to prick his eyes, and head dizzyingly numb from all the sudden chaos invading his senses. But despite his painful display, no help nor comfort came from Gabriel, Adam’s supposed friend.
A few more minutes of pained coughing passed before Adam managed to regain some semblance of his composure back as he stared daggers at Gabriel, who remained standing before him, wine on hand.
“What the fuck? Are you trying to kill me?!” spat Adam as he stood up to grab at Gabriel’s shirt with clawed hands, his horns sprouting into a sharp curve from his head.
Gabriel, however, stood unaffected by the first man’s fiery aggression, seemingly more interested about the safety of his drink at hand.
“Careful,” he warned with a slight drawl as he pulled his glass away from the sinner, “I might end up spilling some on you.”
“Gabriel!” Adam shook the angel in front of him, his anger at the other’s impudent disinterest swiftly bubbling up inside him, threatening to burst into flames at any moment.
Like a parent unmoved by their child’s foolish antics, Gabriel let out a sigh as he carefully placed his drink onto the table before prying both of Adam’s hands off of his shirt with a stern grip. “Shouldn’t sinners be exterminated to begin with?”
“I–” stammered Adam, his anger swiftly dissipating into nothing as a cold burn began to ache where the seraph had touched him.
“I remember you being so adamant about it before,” reminded Gabriel, “Did something change your mind?”
It was then that Adam realised what the haunting chill that stalked him throughout his stay at the embassy – fear. Fear for his safety. Fear for his survival. For the divine walls that once used to shield him from Hell’s wickedness had now become a deadly trap for a being like him. And his friend who once shared in his joy and adventures was now his very own executioner. All this because he had become what he reviled the most – a sinner.
Adam felt the world twist and turn, his vision a confusing blur, as his legs stumbled back in weakness. Then in a moment, he found himself sitting back on his seat, heart ready to escape out of his chest. Every fibre of his being screamed at him to sprint and hide and never return to such a place again, but a pair of seemingly glowing green eyes kept him rooted to the spot, unable to move.
“N-no,” whispered Adam before suddenly increasing his voice. “No, me being here has to be a mistake! There’s no way!”
“Does gold still flow within your veins?” queried Gabriel, taking one step closer towards Adam. “Hm?”
“Just tell Sera about me!” insisted Adam, his fists clenched tightly until warmth began to seep between his fingers. “She’ll figure something out!”
Gabriel merely let a light chuckle, amusement painted all over his face. “Sera made too many mistakes already, and Michael’s too occupied with more important matters. So, I’ve decided to personally deal with this mess myself this time.”
Whatever vitality that remained in the first man quickly went down the drain as a deathly pallor assumed over his appearance. Yes, Gabriel was one of the more carefree angels, willing to indulge in things most Heavenborns would consider senseless and pointless. And yes, Adam was friendly with the seraph, never truly having clashed with him during his life as both human and angel. Now though, Adam was neither human or angel, instead he was a sinner. And Gabriel – never showed any sort of love nor mercy towards sinners. Ingrates as he called them.
“Don’t look so scared,” cooed Gabriel as he leaned down towards Adam, who had remained frozen on his seat. Pale hands gently petted the sinner’s brown curls accompanied by a gentle kiss and soft hushes. “Redeem yourself, and you might be welcomed back to Heaven.”
Gabriel pulled away from Adam, with the other’s gaze of both fear and shock remaining glued onto him. “A snake managed to slither its way up to Heaven. Either by luck or through effort, we are unsure for now. But!” he began to walk back towards his seat at the other end of the table, swooping up his nearly empty glass of wine on the way back, “That means you might also have a chance of returning.”
A bright light began to emerge from the air, enveloping the room once more in its radiance as it gradually increased in size to become a portal. Gabriel stopped before the portal, turning to give a final look back towards the stunned sinner.
“That is if you can survive the exterminations.”
