Sitting here in the Panama airport, we are both happy and sad to be going home. It seems like these past 3 weeks have flown by. We have had the wonderful privilege of doing so many different things just in the relatively short time of being here in Panama.

  Quite a few of the days we were able to work with our brothers and sisters in both English and Spanish congregations, which each made us appreciate Jehovah’s organization in many ways. One of which is how the preaching work is being accomplished. In the Spanish group where most of the brothers and sisters don’t have cars, they will walk for miles just to witness to people on their territory. And with wonderful results. Their kingdom hall is at a sisters house since they don’t have enough funds to support a kingdom hall, but that doesn’t stop them from inviting interested people to the meetings. At the memorial this year, there was an attendance of 284. 40 of those in attendance were publishers, the rest of the people came because of invitations they had received.

  In the Coronado English group is where we attended the meetings during our time in Panama. On Wednesday night they would have the congregation bible study and the Theocratic Ministry School and then on Sunday was The Watchtower and Public Talk. It amazed us to watch this small group function. With only and average of 14 people on Wednesday nights and 18 on Sundays, the meetings ran flawlessly and it was so encouraging the hard work the bothers put into the meetings. Some of the bothers even having as many as 2 or 3 parts for the meeting along with other responsibilities and assignments. What a task to be serving in a hall that isn’t your native tongue, learning the language, and then using it teach people the Bible.

  Of course we did some other things besides just preaching and going to meetings, but the best part of the trip for us was being able to experience Jehovah at work here in Panama. The lives of people down here are simple; they work to eat. Preaching to these native people is so rewarding and satisfying, even if at times the weather was hotter than we are used to. We are leaving with immense appreciation of how hard our bothers and sister work in other countries, despite not having the luxuries we view as ‘common’ in the United States. The brothers and sisters all said how much WE have encouraged them, but really they encouraged US so much. We are leaving with alot of excitement and energy towards the preaching work as we head back to our respective congregations of Pittsburgh Russian and Allison Park congregation.

  Lastly, we would like to encourage all who have the chance to make a trip like this one. We assure you, it was the best trip we could have taken. Even for people who are our age, if you can go somewhere you should. When we look at all of our pictures and experiences from the past 3 weeks, we are so happy. And the stories and experience will stick with us for a really long time even after we are at home, and we hope this blog has expressed what a privilege it has been to be here.
