Despair Say stay alive. As though your blood weren't saying it. As though your senses weren't listening. As though you had a choice. Buck against the closed mouth caging the wild animal of your tongue. Call the sun a sadistic source and rage the whole day through. Then fall against the teeth, old and holey but strong enough to chew you down to size. Fall not in defeat but exhaustion. Curl up in the remnants of the curses you hurled across your lips, the sounds falling around you like names, pinched possibilities, the settlements of sallow cells. It's a good place to be broke. You can suck the sour candies of your sores. You can watch the clouds pass through your head and dare them to break hell loose. You can oven yourself to bake the blues. You can raise the corner of one lip or two when the dawn dies and your veins report a good night's work distilling light to replace the gold life looted. Life's a digger. She has no scruples. She'll take the teeth out of your mouth. She'll loan you breath, belief, the apparition of will, a disrepair of bones. She'll collect whenever she wants. She won't listen to reason. She'll take it all. She'll give a little back. She'll pry your name off your tongue. She鈥檒l soup your guts. She'll slurp. https://ift.tt/2UUCyWn

Debut collection coming very soon... Spring Again Under the cherry trees we visit the last week of every April, come by train and foot to celebrate the renewal of the years, under blossoms bombing bodies that grow more quiet but no less ebullient in their celebration, Addie rests her snowy chin across my shin, sighs and settles her sumptuous snout into a nap. If I didn't know better, I鈥檇 think a visitor from the sun had placed his hand there, and that his warmth was telling me something I should know. In turn, I too close my eyes, return to the earth, and place my hand on the marvel of her knee, asking it to wait ten thousand days before it hurts again. And this, the transference of fealty, not words, is the language we use when we to talk to each other on either side of sleep. https://ift.tt/2sASIrL
