Book Club?
I’m wondering if this blog should really be more of like my book club, my list of really great books that I’ve read and my thoughts about them. I really like to read. I read a freakish amount for someone who also reads for their stressful, complicated job and whose job frequently comes home with her. In my first post, I recommended my start of the year book, my inspirational, self-help book that really makes me think about life in a different, more positive way. It helps me recommit to myself, which is hard to do sometimes as a new mom, but it is totally worth it. If for some reason you’re still reading this, thanks, and here’s another recommendation for you:
Know My Name by Chanel Miller
This book is amazing. The author is amazing. If I could meet her and be her friend, I totally would. She is the strongest person I could ever even imagine, and this book is a true testament to her strength and character. It is an inspiring story of perseverance and strength. Trigger warning - it does contain details and descriptions of sexual assault. Chanel Miller is best know as Brock Turner’s (the Stanford rapist) victim, but she is so much more than that. If the subject matter doesn’t scare you off or intimidate you or make you want to vomit just thinking about it, I totally recommend this book, as someone who works in the criminal justice system, as just a human being who is concerned about sexual assault, and as someone who has had her share of assaultive situations, even if they wouldn’t technically meet the legal definition of “sexual assault.”
If you follow my advice and read this book, let me know. I really want to discuss it with someone, anyone.

Blogging Newbie
So I’ve decided to start a blog, partially to escape from the stress that is my life, and partially because I really just love lists. But mostly because I’m avoiding actually doing work right now.
I’m not sure what this blog will be. I can recommend my favorite things, from books to podcasts, from beauty products to stuff for the home, from baby stuff to pet stuff, whatever it is people might actually care about. I can write about the things I’ve done or things I want to do, places I’ve been, or things to do in the places I’ve lived. Whatever it is, you can definitely bet there will be lists.
So here’s a little about me: I’m a female attorney in my late 20s, a mom to a beautiful and wonderfully perfect baby, a type-A person through and through. I love planning, color-coding, list making, all things that many people avoid like the plague. I thrive on this stuff. I’m also a wine lover and a compulsive online shopper. I simultaneously love and hate stuff, but I tend to collect it. There is no better way to describe it.
Now as we enter a new year and a new decade, maybe I’ll start with a recommendation of a book to help reset your perspective on life, at least that’s what it did for me.
Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
Sometimes we just need to change our perspective and by doing so, we realize what’s important and what we need to let go. This book has helped me realize the things I need to start prioritizing and what things were not making me happy or a better person. I’m still learning to let go but I re-read this book and I feel like I can do anything, be anything. I want everyone to feel that way too.
