Imagine trying to make Orm feel more at home with ocean scents. Diffuser oils. Wall flowers. Car diffusers. You name it. When he finds out about it he chuckles and tells you there is nothing that can compare to the smell of the ocean though you land dwellers may try. But he softens seeing your disappointment. It might not be the same, he will tell you. But he has come to associate these scents with you and that is why he likes them. So you end up keeping them. They might not perfectly replicate the ocean but they still have meaning between you.

Imagine Orm Marius trying to go for a swim in a local pool. Oh I bet he hates it! Used to the Ocean as he is, the sting of the chlorine... it's obnoxious and he hates the feel of it on his skin. Why humans would add chemicals to perfectly fine water he will never understand but it's impossible to get him in a pool ever again. Showers and baths he will tolerate if no other water source is available. But usually just because he can convince you to join him and your presence helps distract him from the chlorine. His eyes prove to be extra sensitive to the chemical, making him even more salty about it. When surface dwellers aren't poluting the water with trash they are putting chemicals in it. Grumble grumble. Want him to drink water? Your best bet is spring water, sometimes with the addition of sea salt. Tap water is unacceptable except in the most desperate of situations. This has been your weekly dose of Orm Marius/Ocean Master head cannons.

I really enjoyed reading the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom comic because it really fills in some of the gap and also gives us a glimpse of another Aquaman villain. But really I just got it for the Ocean Master/Orm Marius character development. It kinda explains his transformation between the first film and the second one and the effect 4 years in prison had on him.

I don't imagine he would ever tell his s/o how it affected him. How he gave up; resigned himself to suffering to make up for the people he hurt. He is still to proud. But to have someone who loves and believed in him again. It gives him hope again. Imagine being that person for Orm, the reason he resolves not to hurt people again. Especially the surface world from which you come.
